Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born againhe cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
For God So Loved the World
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

It means that you are now born into God's eternal kingdom. You have passed from eternal death to eternal life because you have accepted God's only Son, Jesus as your savior.
We were all born once from our mother's, but you must be born of the spirit to see God.

Radius there is NO Scripture that support the theory of ACCEPTING Jesus as your saviour....

Lylyan the Bible talks about BORN OF SPIRIT AND WATER... BORN OF GOD.... To be born AGAIN we have to be dead first! Did God not teach accept a corn of wheat DIES and fall to the ground it CANNOT reproduce.

The Bible teaches that God goes through a process to establish a REBIRTH... It is God that works all things to make a sinner HIS Kingdom child. As the Bible teaches ALL God's children are made to be EXACTLY like Jesus. God says He makes ALL His children NEW CREATURES.... And He says HE DOES IT IN CHRIST! 2 Cor 5:17... Then God says the OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY.... BEHOLD ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW!!!

Reborn is not us being reborn to be sinning again, It is US IN CHRIST, and HE IN US... So it is actually CHRIST BORN INTO US... That is why God calls it BORN OF GOD (1 John 3:9) (1 John 5:18).

All reborn children are IN CHRIST, and HE IN THEM, that is why they are PERFECT, as 1 John 3:9 says. Reborn is from God and ALL from God is perfect! We are not born of ourselves or other men, but FROM GOD! And HIS SEED remain in all who are reborn... That is why they CANNOT sin, because they are BORN OF GOD or has been born of God.

Rebirth is at the END of sanctification/cleansing/repentance/lead of Holy Spirit.... After reborn/rebirth/born of God/ there is no more WORK to be done... Eph 4:11 to 13 gives a good example of how God does this.

Also read the book of 1 John. and John 17 the Prayer of Jesus, then you will understnd how God seperates His people from evil.

Though we are born physically, we're all separated from God at birth, because of sin. We have to be reconnected with Him before we die. We have to be spiritually born (2nd birth). We're not automatically children of God, we have to become one.

Scripture says all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We cannot be saved by works, only Christ's work on the cross for us, His one perfect sacrifice, which paid the penalty of sin.

Being born again is life changing. We become new creatures in Christ. 2 Cor 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new"

Being born again is the 2nd birth (spiritual birth) which is an act of God, where eternal life is given to the person who believes in Jesus. When a person is saved they are spiritually renewed and then become a child of God.

John 3:3: "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again (spiritual birth), he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast"

Ephesians 2:1: "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins"

1 John 1:12-13: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God"

Titus 3:5: "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit"

1 John 2:29: "If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him"

1 John 4:7: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God"

When was your flesh renewed? When we get saved we are still in our flesh and it is the flesh that has ruled over until we accepted Christ. It is the spirit that is reborn. Our minds are being renewed by the word of God. When we place our faith in the Cross the flesh is silenced. When we take our faith off the Cross and place it in what we are doing, then the flesh speaks.

God told Adam that if eats of the tree, he shall surely die. Did he die immediately? No he was separated from God and ruled by the flesh. You can look at Romans to see what the works of the flesh are.

We will not be perfect until the fullness of the redemptive work of Christ has come. Jesus said when you see these things come to pass, lookup for your redemption draweth nigh. What was he talking about? We are saved at the Cross. These future events that Jesus was talking about is the redemption of our flesh bodies.

Earlmayknowornot, you asked the questions, I will let the Bible answer... When is a persons body renewed, to serve the Holy Spirit and not the flesh....Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
This quickening is MAKING ALIVE/REBORN. To wake up, and live a GODY LIFE! Eph5.

When we get saved we are still in our flesh you say... God says you are HID IN GOD WITH CHRIST! For who are IN CHRIST, not in flesh, IN CHRIST! You are either in Christ or in flesh, NOT BOTH! God says for those that died off the old man this has happened... Col 3:3... For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
If my life is hid in God, who can see the life and who cannot. Who is it hidden from? And In God there IS NO SIN... How can I be dead, yet alive in God, and HID IN HIM, and still sin? Do you see that you cannot understand this YET? Do you see that you cannot SEE how holy it is IN GOD? There is NO SIN IN HIM... 1 John 3:5... And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

You ask if Adam immidiately died when he sinned... YES HE DID! He died in his sin! Your idea of death is stop breathing, God's idea of stop breathing is ASLEEP for those that HE LOVES. Jesus said many times... the child is not dead but asleep... LAzarus is not dead but asleep..... God says... the prince of this orld is already judged, and already they died in their sins! He NEVER even knew them. So the ones that will taste SECOND DEATH, God does not even know! They are already dead in their sins. But if we die of the sin... Then we will RECIEVE OUR LIFE!!! Our holy, Godly life. Everlasting life and no TASTE of second death, because WE WILL KNOW GOD AND SEE GOD. 1 John 3.

Earl I write you this to help you in love, to discover what it means to be saved.... Jesus was manifested to TAKE AWAY OUR SIN! And if HE DESTROYS the works of Satan for us, WE ARE SAVED FROM SIN, not IN SIN! If God saves you, YOU CANNOT SIN. That is how well HE SAVES.

God bless you my friend, and may HIS TRUTH be in you. AMen!

I always thought this as well, but then I noticed in the Bible, God actually completes the work on us here on earth. The whole process of making us in the image of HIS SON, God completes here. The "making holy" "making perfect" "glorification" ALL this is done here on earth... why? Why does God HAVE to do this here on earth.... Because God cannot lie and HE SAID He will do this.

Earl when Jesus prayed to Father in John 17, Jesus said that HE is glorified in the saved people. That is a very powerful statement,... If Jesus is glorified IN ME, and I am IN HIM.... can you see any sin or evil or uncleaness, or unrighteousness, or mistake or anything negative in this.... You in Christ, He in you, and you are PERFECTLY ONE WITH GOD? is there sin in that frame? NOPE! And that all happens here... God said in the Bible... 1 John 4:17... As He is so are we in this world.... And also... If He appears we know we shall be like Him.....1 John 3...

My friend, to say we cannot be perfect here on earth is making God a liar, He said... He will give us a new heart and a new spirit and HE WILL cause us to walk as He wants us to walk... How is that walk.... MAtthew 5:48 is that walk... Be perfect...

We can be perfect here on earth, because God ants perfect people on earth... John 17, Mat 5, 1 John 3, 2 Peter 1. Oh and just about every book in the Bible! It is God's will that HE WILL HAVE HOLY PEOPLE HERE, and there is NOTHING SATAN can do about that. He is God and He will have His will be done here.

what does it mean to be born again?
It is when God brings you to a point in your life when your heart is broken over your sins and how you have rebelled against God. You experience godly sorrow and you fall down your knees and pray with a humble and contrite heart that "I am not worthy but GOD please forgive me" then God tells you about Jesus and how Jesus died for your sins and you are washed clean in His blood (most often by His earthly body: the Church and its members). To be BORN AGAIN is when God raises you up from your knees and fills your heart with HIS peace and His joy and gives to you His Holy Spirit to lead you and teach you how to walk, because before you were barely crawling under the weight of your own sins and guilt and condemnation.

However when you are born again, you know that God has forgiven you. Jesus nailed that condemnation to the cross and you have been washed clean. that old you is dead and buried and you are a NEW creation in Christ.

After being born again, you learn to walk with Him and pray and how to walk with the Holy Spirit, bearing the good fruit of love. peace, patience, joy, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. Diligently adding to what God gives you and learning wisdom from above. Eventually God will determine that you are mature enough to be entrusted with good works to do for the glory of His name and you help others who are walking that self same road toward that upward calling of GOd. With love and joy and thanksgiving you walk hand in hand, doing whatever God asks by the talents and powers God has given you to be living epistles to this world that God is LOVE and they are not forsaken and without hope.

Many believe that the expression “born again” refers to someone who makes a solemn promise to serve God and Christ and, as a result, is changed from being spiritually dead to being spiritually alive. Consider what the Bible says.

The expression “born again” is mainly discussed at John 3:1-12. In this account, Jesus highlights several aspect of the “new birth,” and emphasized that it is of great importance. Compare 1 Peter 1:3, 23. Considering this, Christians should make sure that they understand this subject and the following vital questions accurately.

How important is the new birth?
· Is it up to us to decide to experience the new birth?
· What is its purpose?
· By what means does it take place?
· What change of relationship does it bring about?

Jesus stated: “Unless anyone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) The words “unless” and “cannot” highlight the necessity of the new birth. In other words, he was stating that being born again is absolutely necessary for seeing God’s Kingdom.

Some teach/believe that it is up to each believer to obey Jesus and take the necessary steps to undergo the new birth-a personal choice. The Greek expression “is born again” can also be rendered “should be born from above.” Thus, according to that alternate rendering, the new birth originates “from above”-that is, “from heaven,” or “from the Father.” (James 1:17) Yes, it is caused by God. (John 1:13; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 3:9) It is rendered in the form of a statement. Jesus was stating a fact or requirement-not giving a command. The account shows that Jesus’ words did not teach that it is up to us to choose whether to experience the new birth or not.

Many believe that one needs to be born again to receive eternal salvation also; and, that the two expression-entering into God’s kingdom and receiving salvation-refer to the same reward. A kingdom is a form of a government and this specific government is of God. (Daniel 7:13, 14) This same kingdom is also called “the kingdom of the heavens.” (Mathew 13:11; Luke 8:10) When Jesus stated that one must be born again to “enter into the kingdom of God,” he meant that one needs to be born again in order to become a ruler with him in heaven. Simply put, the purpose of the new birth is to prepare a limited group of humans for heavenly rulership. This shows that Jesus and his fellow kings will rule from heaven over the earth.-Revelations 5:9, 10; 20:6.

This new birth takes place by means of a twofold process. It is accomplished by a person being born again of “water and spirit.” In other words, of first being baptized in water-for a public witness; and, then by means of God’s Holy Spirit, being baptized of spirit-only if He chooses certain ones to serve as a co-ruler in his kingdom.-Mark 1:9-11; John 3:22; 4:1-3; Acts 1:5; 2:1-4. Compare Romans 6:3-5.

When a person undergoes both baptisms, they experience the new birth, a remarkable change, a new beginning in the relationship with God. Through this preparation, those specially favored would experience an “adoption as sons” and that God, therefore, could deal with them “as with sons.” (Romans 8:15, 16; Galatians 4:5) His spirit implants in those “adopted as sons” the conviction that they would live with Christ in Heaven.-2 Corinthians 1:21, 22; 6:18.

God’s word also states that others-besides those who are born again-will receive everlasting salvation. In the Bible, it mentions that God purposed to save two groups of people-a comparatively small group of rulers living in heaven and a large group of subjects living on earth. (Luke 12:32; John 10:16; 14:2, 3; 1 John 2:2) Their privilege of being restored to God’s favor and enjoying life without end on paradise earth.-Psalms 37:9, 11, 22, 29, 34; Proverbs 2:21; Isaiah 45:18; Revelations 7:9, 13, 14. Compare Psalms 104:5; Ecclesiastes 1:4; Isaiah 45:18.

The Greek renders it 'born from above' compared to our natural birth and I believe is tied in with...

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."
(Jer 31:33-34)

linked to the NT here...

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."
(Heb 8:10-12)

I think the most important CHARACTOR of a born again person is God declaring that person to be as holy, and as righteouss as He is. In 1 John 3:9 God says WHOSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD, or ABOVE as crossnote mentions....DOES NOT AND CANNOT SIN. This is the powerful recreation of a person born from God (or above). And how many people believe otherwise? Billions... because of false teachings about BORN AGAIN!

The BORN AGAIN person is not a sinner, it is a holy Godly and righteouss person, recreated to the perfect image of His Son. There are so many verses in the Bible that teach that God's children are NOT CARNEL/FLESHLY/SINNING or evil influenced people. Nope, they are SEPERATED BY GOD FOR GOD AND HIS WILL AND WORKS.... That is ALL who are Born of God!
