Question:

Someone is a practicing homosexual.
He repents. He is no longer practicing.
Is he saved?

Someone is saved but is immature and is practicing.
He dies but didn't understand in his mind that it was a sin and believed in Jesus.
Is he saved?

There are so many different circumstances, I don't know how we can say who is or isn't saved.

To me it would have to be a practicing homosexual, who understands what he's doing, DOES NOT CARE, and does not care to change or is sorry for his actions, or life-style or cares to repent.
These are questions I've grappled with! I came to a basic understanding, but one I've still had issues with. I first had to define sin. What is sin? If you really want to open a Protestant or Catholic can of worms, just ask that one question. But I think the true answer is in scripture and it's pretty direct. 1 John 3:4 says Sin is transgressions of the law. Period. Romans 3:20 Paul says "by the law is the knowledge of sin". The psalmist in Psalms 119 weeps rivers of tears because men do not keep God's laws. This is knowledge. Pretty straight forward and not a feeling or an emotion. Not something we've got to fast over or to go find yourself and understand if you think something is sin. Pretty easy peazy really.

Now, if you know and defined the transgressions, your questions then go into Christ's conversation in Matthew 5:19 where Christ is not speaking of whether breaking God's laws is sin. He's speaking of how keeping those commandments affects your future rewards in His Kingdom. This implies that those with faith and by God's Grace not only have a place in the Kingdom, but that our works - or how well we adhered to God's commandments - reflects our rewards while there. (We've had this conversation about works before in saying they are not a requirement for salvation but reflect not only our physical life on earth but our rewards in heaven).

Sooo, using this formula, I think you could conclude that any or all of your scenarios could have salvation, but that it's largely a futile guess without having the personal knowledge God has. I have my horse. I mean, I could easily bet the outcomes you presented, but you know the song .... "I wish we'd all been ready".

Hi 7, his OP was can Bruce Jenner( I think he called him a female) be saved, of course he can be saved if he turns from sin and turns to the Lord. Bruce Jenner WAS one of my heroes, a great athlete. Anyway I did a short post on what a great athlete Jenner was, and this guy Allen says, I disagree, so I write another post wondering what he disagrees with? So here is what he wrote, I am sorry you do not understand the opening point, do you have someone at home who can help you? Where I come from that is just being an arrogant jerk. Who doesn't know that Bruce Jenner could be saved? The answer was so obvious I thought I would write a few lines about Jenner, that is no excuse for the behavior of Allen.

Oh boy, am I glad you are not God.
Christianity is a one time grab or you lose.
I don't see that in Scripture.
Then you need to keep reading. Read Hebrews 6.

in my humble opinion, BJ took the mark of the beast (rather early). He took God's perfection and changed it into something ugly. Blasphemy to the hilt. He is like those in Noah's days that tampered with restructuring of the human body. Would making a part human part animal be any different....NOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo.

He changed God's perfection....He cursed himself.

There are so many different circumstances, I don't know how we can say who is or isn't saved.
And therein lies one of our biggest problems.... we CANNOT say who is, or isn't saved. That is not our call.. it's WAY above our pay grade...

We should simply try to let the word speak to "them" (and us, of course) and let the Spirit work in their life.

Christians speaking condemnation on others is not what Jesus called us to do. Let the word and the Spirit do that.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I can't help it.
Your entire comment up above is the reason why OSAS is such a bad doctrine.
The N.T. tells us to ENDURE, to HOLD FAST, to CONTINUE IN, and so forth.
If he was Christian before and then goes back into the world, what does this tell us?

I don't know the Whole story of Jenner. Was he born again before, after?
IF he was born again before, he definitely disobeyed the word of God. What he did is such a bad testimony for Christianity - which is what I believe the O.P. referring to. In short, he did go back into the world.

Different scripture comes to mind, for instance,
1 Corinthians 5:9-12 where Paul tells the Church in Corinth not even to associate with immoral BRETHREN. One of the reasons is due to idolatry. Could being SO CONCERNED with how you look be called idolatry? I think so. Paul says we are to judge those that are in the church and advise them and help them.

And a funny scripture that comes to mind is
1 Corinthians 16:13...
"be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong..."
yep. Lets all EARN something God calls a gift freely given.

Then walk around boasting about how we did not earn it.. it was by grace not works.

no wonder the world is confused about Christianity. People who call themselves children of God do not make any sense.

??
Do you have some scripture to support whatever it is you said?
Or are we just supposed to believe you because YOU said it?

Hi Blade: Someone posted a picture of Bruce Jenner on a Wheaties box and then thirty years later on the Wheaties box looking like a woman. Under it was written, this is what happens to you if you eat Wheaties for thirty years. It is beyond my understanding why such a specimen of male strength, and who had lots of women, would decide that he needed to dress and pretend to be a woman. I do believe in cases like this where it is obviously mental that Satan has a big hand in what happened. Also, the evil of Jenner seems small to me in comparison to the media people who kept promoting what he did.

oh yes,

it's all about putting it in our faces, in all of the 'Boxes/Containers' - and then asking you,
what you are going to do about it? - how FAR will you go to get what you want???...

without Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, there is 'absolutely-nothing' that anyone can do
to survive, without His Saving Grace...
