The outbreak was like a Hot Potato, so with some humor in it. How many chapters were you able to read?
Hot Potato! Haha! My hands would have been tied behind my back dduring that particular game.

I had planned to stop at 3 but I got nosey and kept reading to see what happened. I think I stopped around Ch.6.

I am aware. I just like chucking it down to more. .swallowable amounts.

By reading a little a night or through the day.

Plus, I like when people direct me to certain spots. Makes me feel like they picked it just for me and my current situation.
I believe if the bible had an actual heart (not saying it doesn't) it would have to be the gospels of the nt.
The book of samuel (it was 1 book in the beginning) would have to be the rythm of that beating heart.

For many many years i had only glanced at "samuel". Then one day I was fixing a flat when a man came up to me knelt beside me and said "I want you to read the book of samuel"
Kinda strange huh?
I dismissed it because I knew samuel was 2 books not one. LO and behold that same day I was reading nelsons book of charts and maps. Guess what? I read in that book that 1&2 sam was actually only one book originally.

Wow what a ride i had reading samuel!!! Now I pass it on as maybe you will also do!!!

Hope you get the same experience!!!

LOL me too.
I read a little, let it go down, ponder it,and get the juice outta it. Sometimes it is overwhelming when the Lord sit with me and reveals himself through his word.

I used to open up several bibles in my house and "sneak a peek" at averse when I passed by. Kinda fun

Anyone know some good Bible verses I can read up on tonight?
I doesn't know why people only reads the verses, they should read the whole story to understand the meaning. No one that reads a romance novel just pick out and read certain sentence in order to understand the novel; beside verses were some type of method the translators used, but in the original text, it didn't even had verses or punctuation marks and or any separations of words, to distinguish each word and each sentences, and or each chapters.

In a sense your right.

I guess, it's because we feel like every word, literally, has a meaning so we read a sentence and sit to ourselves to see if there was a message in that particular verse.

I've seen preachers go hours preaching off of just a handful of verses so. . .I guess it's done to make sure nnothing is missed.

Eventually your going to get done with the section. Doing some at a time doesn't seem like such a issue.

P.S- I don't like romance novels.

When I do read books I break it down into chapters. Soo. . as long as it gets done I don't see a problem with it.

Well, try reading the type of books that you read backwards and see if you can understand the whole book. Each story should be read from the beginning to the end, but I know most people aren't interested in the word, but trying to make themselves look as if they are interested, like as if they are doing something. P.S. the preachers only read one verse during the week and make a whole story from it, it is because that is the only part of the scripture that they has studied that week, the rest of the week, they'd served their stomach.

Philippians 3:18-20 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Interesting! Any idea why you feel like he pointed you to that particular spot?

Was it in sync with a part of your life you were going through?

Okay. I like that.
How about Ruth 1. Just imagine and the setting. Ignore parts you don't understand at the reading. Feel the emotions. And look for noble or praiseworthy acts.
I just finished reading Ruth 1. All of it! I like it.

Ruth was very loyal to her mother in law & received a husband, a child, and her (and her deceased husbands) land back.

Wonder what would have happened if the second Daughter in Law had stayed for the journey.

I think it was God speaking through him.

It was just a special personal thing and makes me so glad he is a loving God and would guide us so personally.

When I start reading Samuel now...I set aside much time...cause I do have a hard time not reading it all the way through at once. David...the example of a man after Gods own heart is so inspiring...

Psalms 139 is one that reminds me that such knowledge is too wonderful for me...it is high...I cannot attain it. God is awesome!

I think I love the whole thing, when I am open to the Lord. I was reading one of the prophets last week, and he spoke for the lord and said, whene I took you out of Egypt, I didn't ask for burt offering and sacrifice , all I ask wwas to obey my VOICE. When we read the bible ,we can read it like a duty, orstructured, which I have done, Or we can wait on God's voice. I guess I mean to really be personal , to here him, in your lifeand in what he has been teaching us lately. I don't mean no more stuctured reading ! I am just saying find Jesus , hear his voice,Let him guide your life not just the perifials. I like proverbs sometimes
