As in the laying on of hands to deliver a gift of healing; can someone 'lay hands' upon themselves and be healed?

Hands don't heal. Only God heals. Next.

Why would they get sick? A snake bit Paul, God says they will drink poison and step on scorpions.... walk on water, tell trees to replant themselves, move mountains, and the WICKET ONE TOUCHETH THEM NOT....

There are so many promises and HUGE powerful things that will manifest in a believer, if we believe this, then why would they get sick RICKY?

Was Jesus sick, EVER? and if God makes us in His image, will we get sick? Just because Paul had a thorn of what MANY people did not know what it was, now all has PLENTY thorns in their bodies.... BULLDUST.. it is only lack of faith and a lot of sin and guilt that makes them talk this way....

I f we copy and paste what God said about a sacved person and His elect, and only the good parts, it would be a SUPER HUMAN WITH GODLY POWERS portrayed there. VERY few if ONE will believe it... Just one verse.... Jesus said the things He did EVEN GREATER things they shall do.... How about that Ricky, know any of these people?

Even Timothy had an infirmity. Why didn't Paul lay hands on him and heal him. God is God, He raises up and He puts down. He gives and He takes away. He wants our faith, that is the only thing we can do to please Him.

John 1:4In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

I have tried it myself with anointing oil ( virgin olive oil ). You can order evil out of your home, you can order evil spirits out of some one ( in Christ name ). But I think it should be okay to anoint yourself if your sick. I have had good results . But im still working on things. and think that maybe it would be a good idea if there was another believer that had faith in doing those things.

But there is a scripture that says something about gathering people together to anoint for the sick. In a few places. But as far as I can tell, im confident you can order evil spirits out of a place, or person, on your own. Naturally. Christ name in who you do this in, is who does it.

Over all, i think its fine to ask for healing for yourself.

2 Cor 12:7-10 Paul prayed three times to have his infirmity removed. God said no. There is a very special ministry in suffering. We see the unsaved suffer and curse God. We see the believer suffer and bless God. How many souls have been drawn to Christ by the way believers suffer? Far more I suspect than we will ever know this side of glory.
I believe that the bible clearly teaches that God heals our infirmities. God does not use "healers". The faith that heals is in the individual who requires the healing. Praying and anointing done for healing is not a mystic rite. God can withhold healing when the infirmity glorifies Him.

...heal themselves?
First, healing is the work of God alone, not a pastor's act of laying hands or something. Secondly, no one can heal themself per se; yes, one may take medications and whatnot and recover but healing is ultimately in God's hands. Also, one can certainly pray for their healing and God can honour it and grant their request if it's His will. For instance the sick King Hezekiah was told by prophet Isaiah that he will die as per God's decree, but he renounced it and prayed passionately and God spared his life for another fifteen years.

This follows the subject. I just wish you would have titled this thread a bit better .

James 5:14-16

King James Version (KJV)

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

a righteous man works at it. and does God's will. I guess that would be a good place to start.

This is what the angel Gabriel said:

Look what Luke 1:37-50

King James Version (KJV)

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

( this is not the only place you can read about this. This is just the one off the top of my head )

I personally would think it silly to heal other people and NOT heal your self, you wouldn't trust a sick doctor would you?

Reward?
The reward for healing your self is removing your pain, and Gods glory.
The reward for healing others is seeing their pain removed, and Gods glory.

Absolutely, only their are always conditions that must be met first. God never fails to do what He has promised in His word. But if you don't know that it is His will to heal you, then it would be better that you just take the medication, because God honor His word and the faith He has given you, not hope. In other words, He will not heal you if you are hoping. You must know that He will, because He said He will, in His word.
And the word of God plainly states in simple language, that it is His will for you to be healthy and whole, that is to say, not sick. Again, if your not sure it's His will or that He will heal you, take the meds, it will work better.

Good, good, all good answers and taken to heart. And you are right, those of you who said you can't just lay hands on someone, there has to be a partnership with the Holy Spirit. Some think the Spirit must be leading, but it is wrong to see someone in suffering and call upon the Spirit move into the situation and bring a gift of healing? But the point I was getting at was, while it's perfectly normal to pray for healing, there is no example of someone giving the gift of healing to themselves. It always requires a third party intercessor.

So, given that a Holy gift of healing requires an intercessor, could satan afflict someone by separating them from any and all potential intercessors?
