I don't think it was meant to be literall, we can never be perfect but sure as heck can try right? LOL that was a joke, but yes we can try but only for the right reason or else we can never be even close to it. I mean the Pharasees tried so very hard to be perfect and they did a good job on the outside but the problem was their heart were wrong. the key to being perfect? A god loving heart. other wise you end up like the pharasees

Yes Blain, I get to be perfect every morning. I was born in sin meaning I inherited a sinful nature from Adam and Eve, so when I am cleansed through the blood it takes a lot of power to cleanse me, but Christ has that power. It is very hard for the mind that I have to understand all of that, so I do actual washing my hands as I put my whole self before Christ for forgiveness and cleansing. As my hands are washed clean it helps me see Christ cleansing me. I know of ways I had sinned, so I had to repent of what I knew about. Then I sat with prayer, and for awhile I was perfect.

Well I gues we were perfict the day we were creatid, until the moment sin entered the wurld, Sorry for my lack of spelling, I guess I'm not pefict lol . I'm sorry, Joke. I got what you meant. But yes, true we once were perfect, when God created man, once sin entered by the wrong decision to disobey God, we then we cursed and that perfectness went out the window. We could of lead a perfect life, but then because of that little word called sin. Perfect had no meaning in our lives.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. The previous verse speaks of friending only people who are friendly towards you and that even the unsaved do this. But God loved us while we were lost, without Him in our lives. To me this means be patient, loving and kind hearted to those who d o not love God and hate you because you are a friend to God the Father and of Jesus Christ.

And the church choir sings hallelujah!!

Matthew 5:48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

He's trying to tell us to head in that direction, but none of us can't be perfect in this Age.

In the flesh, no. The scriptures that charge us to be perfect I take as an exhortation to continue to mature in Christ.

Hebrews 5:13 Anyone who has to drink milk is still a baby, without experience in applying the Word about righteousness.
14 But solid food is for the mature, for those whose faculties have been trained by continuous exercise to distinguish good from evil.

1 Peter 2:1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, of all deceit, hypocrisy and envy, and of all the ways there are of speaking against people;
2 and be like newborn babies, thirsty for the pure milk of the Word; so that by it, you may grow up into deliverance.

There were a couple people in the Bible that came pretty close though. King David only slipped up very rarely and he was very very close. He's one of my favorite OT characters because of that. Enoch pleased the Lord so much God scooped him up and he never died, not even the first death. Lot was also considered a just man.

Hebrews 11:5

"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God."

Why does the saying 'aim for the Stars and you'll hit the moon' come to mind. Its a kind of standard to aim for every day we wake up IMO.

1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

no man that ever walked the earth was perfect except Jesus. not even His disciples were perfect. they had faults as well.

we are only saved by the grave of God, through our faith and love. if we lack either of those, we deny God. basically what im saying is, if you are stressing that you wont get into heaven because you are not "perfect", no need to stress. no man that ever walked the earth has been perfect. Jesus doesnt count since Hes Jesus lol.

Yes you can, it is a faith thing... do you think it is possible for God to make you perfect? then let it be done. do you wish to be imperfect, then you will be imperfect.

Jesus meant what he said when he commanded us to "be perfect"

Don't doubt, just believe you can be perfect from now on.

no man is perfect. man was / is made to be weak. now thats not an excuse, but dont deceive yourself to thinking you are perfect. if you think you are, you are lying to yourself. but what that scripture means is to aim to be perfect, in all that we do, its about being aware and conscious of ourselves and correcting ourselves. does that mean that we are perfect? no. no man is perfect.

as Gods children, we have to turn to Him to raise our awareness of ourselves. like me, once i was born again in the spirit, little things about myself and the world became clearer, much more than before. then when i got baptized, everything became even more magnified even more than before.

i like to compare being born again and getting baptized to getting engaged and getting married. not the same, but its a process. being born again in the spirit i compare to getting engaged, and getting baptized, is the wedding. where you give yourself to the Lord and become ONE with Him, much as you would with your spouse.

and that is when you become alive, and spiritually, thats when you became alive. \

im having a hard time finding my words tonight for some reason. maybe its because my daughter is whining next to me playing donkey kong because she cant beat a level. anyway...

its about the effort, patience, faith, love, and being humble. being humble is grossly over-looked for some reason, or so it seems.

with that said, nobody is perfect. we just aim for that with the help of God to make us aware of our flaws and strength and wisdom to correct them.

When Jesus mentioned perfect in Matthew 5:48, perfect means complete, not flawless. Try to live in the completeness of Jesus, not try being flawless, that's ridiculous and impossible.

Yea but the bible said the Job was perfict and God him self said that he was twice in the book of Job. Then you havr king Asa who was perfict even though he didnt tear down the groves in high places. So even in the flesh he was seen by God as perfict.

When we accept/trust/believe on Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us, we are made perfect in the Father God's eyes, because we take on the righteousness of his Son, JC. But, we remain sinners, in that the Holy Spirit works in and through us to help us to become more like Christ. This happens on a daily basis. We will be fully redeemed when Jesus Christ returns for the second time.

Then why did Jesus tell the woman go and sin no more. Or why dose he not tell us try to be like me. It would seem that the tone of the bible is stateing that it is posable. No where have I read try to be perfict
