I'm fairly certain that I can communicate with God in ways that are not common. There are certain things that took place before this became evident. I have my theories about why I can and others can't. All of scripture backs up everything I believe but what I believe is not accepted by most. I think others might have a similar gift but am curious if their understanding is similar to my own. I don't think I'm a prophet in the classical sense but I don't know if I've been given a gift or am suffering with mental issues. Since I think I'm about the most logical and rational person I know and what has been explained to me by God makes complete sense when you read the Bible, I fear that most people are "missing the boat".
Remember when Satan says, "You are special," his motivations are different from when Jesus says, "You are special." When satan says it, he wants to pervert God's meaning. The reason is Jesus understands you are, in His Spirit thru your spirit, a reflection of Himself, whereas satan also understands this and is out to pervert it, saying, "If Jesus is special, why wouldn't he make some more special than others? Doesn't He have that right?" (subtly suggesting for you to operate on your own (godliness) for the needs of those below you. Not away from God, but toward God in your own flesh. Oh my, this is dangerous, deadly - heresy.

My attitude as a saved and sanctified soul is that of profound, humble holiness (there is no such thing as proud holiness). "Guard your hearts and minds....."

Job 33-14 tells us G-d speaks first one way, then another, though we don't perceive it. I believe it means He is constantly seeking to communicate with us until such time as we perceive it is from Him and walk out His instruction to us.

Did you run out of "o's"? Here you can have mine {o}.....I have plenty extras.......shi--tim.....

God is faithful to us when we are faithful; and even when we are not. Job is referencing his diversity by way of means thru convictions, but Christianity is not walking in the light of our convictions but walking in the light of the Lord, a very different thing. Convictions are necessary, but only as stepping stones to all that God wants us to be....so yes, "from Him" is awesome! Right?!

I remember that for years, when I was in the charismatic church, that I thought God was trying to tell me things but was not able to get through, I do not believe that way at all anymore. If God wants to get through to you He will. On the other hand, it is possible for us to ignore the leading of the Spirit simply because God is telling us what we don't want to hear. I remember a particular ministry that was teaching a false doctrine and they were praying vehemently that if they were in any error that God would show them. Well shortly after that, I was watching the program one morning and in the space of half an hour, seven people called in and explained why the false doctrine they were teaching was false(something I had never witnessed before), anyway, they just blew it off by saying, we don't believe that here. So God answered their prayer but because the answer came through human voices they rejected it.

When the HOly Spirit first entered into me, my heart and mind, I was given to fellowship with a small charismatic group.

I praised God with them and it was very pleasant, but when the small group gathered and I would hear the "elder" or leader start in saying "We are going to have the Holy Ghost here" as though he were attempting to draw God into the assembly I thought it odd because I felt I was in the Presence. Then he would announce a (healing" and soon after a woman was brought in for us to pray for, which I gladly did. The woman came to ma afterwards and asked me why she could not be healed. She also told me she wanted to serve God, so all I could tell her or adviser her was fairly simpoe.."serve God in the manner given you, be it in prayer, teaching, sharing HIs love in all manner, and you will be better or you will be worse. He will determine all for you.

I reaalize that was simplistic sounding, but I had already been used as a vessel for His work in severl ways that were only explainable as miraculous and after also.

I believe He speaks to us all, but like Samuel at first, and because we, like Samuel are too humble at times to realize He is speaking do not hear Him. I have heard Him on several occasions, though not many for my 70+ years, and I know if He speaks to me, He speaks to anyone. May you hear Him , or understand you already have, in the manner He chooses to speak to you, in Jesus christ's most beloved name, amen.

After checking up on this thread as updates occur, I have got to say, I think this "hearing from God" is a bunch of malarkey. I think it's just a bunch of wishful thinking of people who, in their normal lives aren't special in the least, but think that somehow they are "God's special little snowflake" and get to have some sort of direct line of communication to Him. Now, maybe I am wrong, and I welcome anyone to weave however many Bible verses from as many unrelated books together into some sort of crazy, phony, cohesive rebuke, to prove me wrong. Until then though, I am going to remain highly skeptical that God has somehow chosen to speak to YOU.

Contiue listening, but in faith, hope and love. You see, God really is not dead....He cannot die.

He is the same, yesterday, today and forever, what He did in ages past He is doing today.
Scripture tells us G-d "Spoke in his ear", and He still can and does today.

Hi YG: Why does God actually speak to one person and not to another? I don't know, however to ridicule someone who God has spoken to does not seem to me to be very wise, because if God really did speak to the person then the ridicule is really toward God for speaking to them and not to you...it is called jealously. You do not have to believe that sometimes God actually speaks to people, just keep believing in the Lord, however the NT teaches that God sometimes speaks to people, there are examples. At my salvation experience I had never read the bible, and God actually talked to me and explained what I needed to do and some other things. Sorry if that offends you. I don't think it is wrong to share something like that because it really happened.

God does what He pleases to do, and what pleases Him is always good whether you or I understand now or not. He may choose to speak to an individual for His own purpose, while nto to others, again, for His own purpose.

Oft times when people avail themselves to Him, He will have something to say to them in the form of instructions that are specifict to being used for a miracle or given a teaching.

There are so many reasonse God does or does not . His ways are not our ways.....God bless all in Jesus christ, amen
