Scared me for a moment with the title "Chapains", I thought there was a new injury for sitting too long in the pews. ROFL

Sure women should be Chaplains especially to minister to other women.

Are you asking for opinions or for biblical truth? Because everyone has different ideas what is biblical or not some might say it is biblical other will not in the end only God can reveal the truth to you

There may not be chapter and verse in Scripture but the principle is definitely there.

I thought we were going to learn about Harry Chapin's family.

I think a woman should be allowed to do absolutely whatever she feels led to do, by the spirit of God... in the kitchen.

I was a chaplain for a few years in long term care. I really loved the work and the people and I was very sad when I got too sick to do the job anymore. Maybe one day I will be able to walk again enough to get around and minister to the people in long term care.

I know many women who are chaplains. They love God and people and they have usually trained for a long while to do the work they are doing. They are very much called by God.

when I think of the word 'chaplain, I think of Holy Duty -
something that is required of all of us who truly love our heavenly Saviour.....
goodness knows, the Holy Spirit gives us ample opportunities to serve our
brothers and sisters without measure....

Here is what I know. Throughout the bible I have seen prophetesses I have seen women being used by God to do great and amazing things in both the nt and the ot but I admit I have never seen them in high authority like many men in the bible where.
But I also have this to say, I believe it is very biblical and true for a women to be a teacher or chaplain because God will use whoever he chooses for his will to be done

My sister is an EMT/firefighter, and she's the chaplain there. How she ever got elected is beyond me, because she takes the Lord's name in vain ALL THE TIME. :/ Plus she isn't religious and doesn't even go to church.. BUT she IS good at comforting people, so maybe that's why they made her chaplain. All I know is, I wouldn't want her ministering to ME on my deathbed..lol..

I like this topic, it has been on my mind for a while. For I see it says a woman is not to teach a man...What does that refer to?
Work, intimate moments, scripture..what? For does a mother teach her young son, when the father is at work, or away.

I assume you are speaking to me! When you are alone, sick and dying, you are thankful that anyone comes to pray with you, share some Scriptures, and talk about things that are important to you.

So yes, men and women! I have lots and lots of Greek exegesis of what the verses mean, but I am currently in my car travelling through the Rocky Mountains with little or no cell phone service. I will try to post tomorrow when I am home! I will explain why it is ok for women to preach to, teach and certainly comfort men!

If I can learn something very important from someone then it doesn't matter to me what gender the person is.

Yes women can be a chaplain and hold any other positions in the church as a man.

One thing that is taught in churches now days is a cover up that man has done to try and change the fact that in the early church, even among the original 11 Apostles + Paul + Matthias there was women in leadership roles in the church back then. And Apostle Paul even commends some of them for their working in the faith !!!

I have had a few ladies minister, and even correct me. I praise God and thank him every day for those ladies in Christ.

remember to interpret scripture in context of history and region. In many of the NY churches, a woman was seen as a second class citizen, And would offend most men, and cause them to not listen to the word, even if they spoke truth. But in other areas, it was not that bad, Paul spoke of many women apostles in his letters. But we have the sacrifice yourself for those you are around idea he spoke so much about

Yes. God had a woman named Deborah lead Israel, in the book of Judges, did he not?
