Now there's a word ?, character ? Look at all the people The Lord chose from Moses Abraham Joshua Ezekiel Timothy the apostles, and many many since, oh and king David of course for those who have read the bible devoured it unto soul, The Lord talks about all these people's character ? Why was it so inportant? Character determines an awful lot and god knows each one of us by character, hence he sets some in some places in ministry some in healing, teaching.caring, singing, and many other fields bt each one needs differing characteristics, The Lord chose the people who are willing to hear him today god is not calling all the world at this time I repeat it god is not calling the whole of humanity at this time only a few ? Why is god doing this? Because those being refined and washed today are to be priests and rulers with Christ when he returns to earth, so character is vital now as it was of old those who seek power in gods world shall never be given such look at what they've dne on earth with limited power let alone spiritual power holy power? No The Lord will only share his glory no one can ever gain it its freely given and character determines how much The Lord shall give to any of his children the character of sme Old Testament prophets is simply amazing even by today's standards of courage bravery faith Daniel and lions for instance bt I just wanted to say our character and our motives are the standard we shall be judged not if we know 900 verses of the bible or not I dnt think Jesus first question to his servant will be just how many scriptures did you memorise my child ????? No no no ? A lot to be said for character let our behaviour show others our character fruits of the spirit in other words will be visible if we are being changed and renewed and character being shaped into holiness amen ... Jesus is a friend as well as our lord.....

The characteristic of their spirit resembles some of God's character. God yearns so much to be with His children as the same as David has yearned to be with God.

Psalm 84:2
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Genesis 25:34
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.

Romans 9:13
Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

Hebrews 12:16
See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.

Good character is formed through time like diamonds take eons to form and surface Esau character was mentioned before he was born so god knows already those who in this age would be inclined if true knowledge was given would succumb to his will we do have individual character all of us let The Lord show us all what he wants us to do? Yeh lot to be said for character I reckon. That's why its high on gods list for his children it says an awful lot about us to others hence The Lord warns us to be of good character as you say so we are confirmed to godly character the works are of god bt the individual has to want the same as god wants for his life? Thank you lord for refining my character I've always bn a character led person since youth bt never understood why it was so prominent in my make up bt now I know I want gods character as he wants me be like him oh I'm past wondering of everything god does for us and thank The Lord for the time to learn amen

God in us? Without god in us we are as nought and yet even now we only have a deposit of the Holy Spirit not full measure imagine the good god will do with millions of god people like children imagine the pace and capacity to do good? Yes god is reproducing himself in us this is amazing, and as 1corinth 2 v9 is only a glimpse of whats ahead for gods children a tiny glimpse ? We have no idea of the power and ability god is going to give us when we recieve our immortality ? Godlike power will make all the powers we know seem as of old? And all this is a gift? Knowing what I know and I dnt say lightly as the day of The Lord is a dark day, even so come lord Jesus come rule earth as in heaven....amen

Amen!

Yes character is very important to God, for He wants a people who want to fear, serve, and love Him. Godly fear is that of great respect, as a child might have to their parents knowing that if they do wrong they will get in trouble. The bible is full of men and woman of great character, not all were perfect, look at King David, though he was a man after God's own heart had many troubles yet continued to seek forgiveness from the Lord once he realized the errors of his ways. God gave us His only Son, Jesus as the perfect sacrifice, though innocent of any crimes, he died for our sins was buried and rose again on the third day and when he ascended into Heaven sent down a Comforter. So we now have the baptism of water and Spirit; the gift of the Holy Ghost that is free to as many as God call's. We can repent and be made clean through baptism, and then are given power to stay clean. That Holy Ghost gives us the power so that we may keep the Lords statutes. What and amazing God we do have! I thank Him always for His Mercy and Grace, though I am unworthy He has made me worthy by His calling, in Jesus name Amen! (1 Corinthians 15; Acts 1&2 KJV) *plus so many more scriptures! ;)

Deuteronomy 10:12-15 KJV
12
And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 KJV

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Take Care and God Bless! :)

2 Peter 1:5-8
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,[a] and virtue with knowledge,6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.8 For if these qualities[b] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I would sooner here one word in truth than a thousand words of supposition and theological debate? I think many on here would like the same, we are not all bibliophiles, we are not all looking for theological striving either, nor do I expect nor desire verse upon verse of doctrine in reply to a single point, sure I respect that in another person bt please people lets keep it real, not one is good before god? Not a single one, let that teach us first be honest share wat you know not for kudos or praise. Just to warm each others hearts talk about all the good god has done for us see if we can aide each other bt still I see judgemental tones and doctrinal speak seeking to claim a higher position on here bt lest we forget all are gods children on here at different stations than others lets welcome newborns on here those just visiting here seeing how we relate people who dnt know the bible yet this is the audience I'm partial too not to those who are senior in The Lord tho they too I'm here to learn from bt I know legalists when I see them and no one is gna inprison me ? Not from the freedom I have to be me in Christ Jesus ? No man???? Blessings to all on gods green earth....

I like that you posted this verse, especially right after my post. Later that same day during a bible study this scripture was brought out and it made me think of this thread, of course we were discussing character. I was going to come back and add 2 Peter 1:3-8, I really like how verse 3 leads into verse 5. :) I love how God works when He wants us to think & study on something, it seems that just about every topic you come across relates to that particular theme, well that is what I find to be the case, even in a random conversation.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Virtue is the character God calls us to be and looks for in those that follow Him. Amen!
