I would agree the living word God like the thorn can prick a person’s religious conscience or heart as a persons own source of faith and perform what it intended. We can see that working in the unbeliever (no faith) Saul, who was persecuting the Christians murdering what he thought was the outward completion, the enemy, as he walked by sight (empiricism). He did that according to the "law of the fathers" (Christ nemesis) which is after the philosophies of men, as a false misguided zeal toward God.

I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the “law of the fathers”, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. Act 22:3
Later on having become a member of the Nazarene denomination .

Paul being persecuted by the King reveals his born again conversion testimony.

Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. Act 26:12

It could be a good thing that you are kicking it with us around here. Most of us I believe know what it means to kick against the pricks.

Hello again Skeptical,

Most threads (indeed, most people) can argue nearly anything almost forever, but may I give you the benefit of the doubt in this case? I would like to imagine that you really are asking questions because you are seeking the truth, whatever it is. If this is the case, I have reposted below what I wrote earlier.

I doubt anyone can argue you (or most any honest intelligent person) into believing what they do. The only way you can really find the truth of these things is to earnestly seek the Living God yourself.

IF there is a God, and if He loves you enough to die in your place, would you want to, not only know about Him, but to know Him personally? If so, please go ahead and seek Him for yourself. You can do so through the following:

If you are sincere in wanting to know the truth of all this stuff, read the Gospel of John several times asking God to show you the truth of what you read.

If the Jesus of the Bible is true, and if He really did rise from the dead, then there is a God who loves you and wants you to join His family.

Indeed, if you are sincere in wanting to know the truth of these things, it is God Himself leading you to ask these questions. So, start with the Gospel of John and sincerely ask God to make the truth clear to you.

God seeks those who wish to love and worship Him in truth.

It could be that He has a great and wonderful plan for your life. All you need to do is seek Him in truth.

If you are not really seeking the truth of God, do you know what you are looking for? Are you brave and honest enough to sincerely ask that question of yourself?
