Yes, this is what I was was talking about, Mr. Green (I corrected your typo before quoting, hehe
).
As I stated before, "conviction" may not be the best word, although it's the one I grew up with, and I never thought of it as anything bad (although perhaps unpleasant at times, after I did something REALLY goober-headed
)
But, whatever word you use: chastening, scourging, rebuking, training, correcting........what I am referring to is that ooky feeling you get when you realize: "Oooohhhh.........That was NOT the right thing to do......." And then you can take it to the Lord in prayer, and get your lesson, and hopefully not make the same mistake next time. I grew up hearing this called "conviction", but perhaps that's not the best word to use

Yes, snackersmommy, indeed, the typo was funny, but not how our Loving God speaks to correct us.
God is Loving, and, yes, that 'ooky' feeling, lol, is good, indeed, for us as we realize we've strayed from His path for us. And, milady, you're not related to 'The Adams Family?'
'Ooky, kooky, snackersmommy.' Rhymes even
Of course, I'm kiddin' ya, and, yes, IF you want to THINK you are conVicted of your wrong things done, so be it, the Lord leads us to all Truth, but, for me now, that is not a word, upon my further recent study, that I see at all in God's vocabulary of dealing with His kids . Only Satan guilts we sheep.
That snake, er, goat !
Scourging , chastening, correcting, rebuking, all those words in scripture speak of eradicating our bad without making us feel GUILTY. God compares our chastening in scripture to Love for us.
A father does not convict (pronounce them guilty and deserving prison) his child of a wrongdoing, he corrects them, sometimes harshly, but it is done in Love , with no scarring left in child's mind of the feeling of guilt for the wrongdoing
BUT, 'convict' speaks of not just bringing guilt but of being FOUND guilty. I just don't see my God (and yours) operating with that modus operandi .
He is our Comforter, Counselor (advocate), and, Helper .
God bless you, Christ sis, and that ooky, kooky pottery son you have
