"Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (This 'eat' and 'drink' speaks of what? What obedient act of Scripture do churches commune to do weekly/monthly? ;) ) 54Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

61Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit[SUP]e[/SUP] and life. 64Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

66From this time many of his disciples (not His 12 disciples referenced here) turned back and no longer followed him."

These 'disciples' lost faith in Him, whom upon they looked on and believed for salvation unto them given :(

Keep in mind, these disciples, of course, were not The Twelve whom Jesus hand-picked, who dropped everything to follow Him :)

What kind of a disciple do you want to be ? What do you think it takes to stay with Him ?

OH, WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait just one minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think, Scripture states that EVEN those disciples named 'The Twelve' ALL left Jesus, too, at one time in their lives.....

Want to believe this truth ?

"At that time Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56"But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets." Then all the disciples left Him and fled."

Do YOU think Jesus was trying to prove a point here? :) Is a lack of faith in Him sin? God knows our heart, BUT if you leave Him, even if it's just cuz you're scared when the going gets rough, is there a way back to Him ? Of course ! He seeks after you, so, you seek after Him. :)

It's OK to leave Him. Just, come back when He comes to you and tells you, too, like Jesus did The Twelve when He met with them--with the nail holes in His side--after having been crucified on the cross and risen again on the third day. Jesus forgave them, He knew their heart :)

So, don't worry if you stray, as we ALL do, we ALL crucified Jesus on THAT CROSS :( All of us, "enemies of God," Scripture tells us in Romans 5:10, and, elsewhere. Our ACTIONS made us SEPARATED from God. But, Christ became a mediator for us to get back to right relationship with Him, by taking on Christ's righteousness for believing in Him, and, saying we will follow Him. :)

But, yeah, like the 1 lost sheep of the 100 flock of the Shepherd's, a a parable Jesus told in Luke 15:4 and Matt. 18:12, if you become LOST, or, go off like the Prodigal Son, also in Scripture, He will come after you and everything will be fine again, just like it was for His disciples who accepted Him like old times when He came to them after having been crucified

By accepting His death in your life, you understand being crucified with Christ, (Galatians 2:20), which Scripture tells us is true happening once we accept Him, follow Him, with no turning back, no turning back, having decided to follow Jesus :)

Decide, He's calling you, now. You read through this thread and listen for Him, His voice, His Love, calling, calling, calling out to you. 'Come Home, into My arms, choose Me, I have already chosen you, eternity to be, with Me, your slate of slunk rubbed clean,by His blood, free. Home:)

Great song! "I have decided to follow Jesus." I haven't heard that song in years.

John Ch. 6 is one of my most favorite chapters.

John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

The verse says that many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

When He asked the disciples:

John 6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

I've always loved Peter's answer here, because there are a lot of hard sayings throughout the bible.

When I come across something in the word that is hard to understand, I always remember what Peter said,

“Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.”

And keep pressing on.

The twelve did all flea when Jesus was arrested. It seems to me that they fled in fear, but their hearts remained with HIM.

In the account of Peter denying Jesus three times, when the rooster crowed and he remembered the words that Jesus spoke he wept bitterly. And then Peter's relationship continues with Christ even after Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus met with him and the other disciples on more than one occasion.

The disciples that went back, (as stated in John ch. 6.) It only says that they went back and walked no more with him.

They must have turned completely away.

Stay in Him :) Don't 'walk away, too.' Peter got it right, he had faith, didn't he, leastbegreatest :)

I could see a little of why some disciples walked away at this time, for Jesus' was not yet raised up from death and seeing Jesus in front of our eyes obviously does not mean we recognize who he really is--Messiah, Saviour, God in the flesh. But, now, it's different, we have been redeemed, made RIGHT again with God, through His 'great' act of mercy, and, grace, by His sacrifice of His only begottnen Son for us, as while we were yet sinners and deserving of death He died for us. Worthy of death, just the opposite happened to us, God saved us, giving us LIFE WITH HIM after we die :)
