I was enjoying this thread, it started out so good. Human love is fickle, it is based on ' me me me me ', until we have children, then its , ' them them them me' LOL, but the love of a parent for a child starts to beckon similarities to the 'divine love' we are privy to in Jesus.

I can't comprehend what Jesus did for us on the cross, what He went through even before He hung there dissolves my understanding. "[SUP]14 [/SUP]. . . his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men". "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting".

This is love toward us, uncomplicated, all giving, life transforming. It has already been posted here; love is long suffering, and is kind; Love does not envy; Love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,Love does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; Does not Rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Endures all things, believes all things, hopes all things, Love never fails.

This is the love we have toward our brothers and sisters and our creator, and it fulfils our place here on earth, it guides us and brings us into His presence. WOW!
His love is beyond our understanding...

Ephesians 3:19 KJVS
[19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

...at least the understanding taught void of His Spirit. But hopefully we are growing in trust in that love :)

Yes, we are called to know, the love of Christ which passeth knowledge (which is in part) and there is also the peace of God that passeth all understanding in Phil 4:7

I hear loving people saying things that they really shouldn't,,,but, we must always remember that each
and every one of us is unique in God's eyes and that He does truly love each of us in His own way...
and He does excuse us many times when we are ignorant, 'to a certain 'point'...

after conversion, it is never about me, me, me, or them, them, them, it is always about Him, Him, Him'...

we each have to learn to over-come our life-long-inherited-wordly-comfort zones! and this is one of the toughest things
that we will ever have to put into continual practice, - 'over-coming' and desiring to putting our old-hearts
into learning to do the Holy-Will of our Heavenly SAVIOUR...

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 John 5:11
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Ohhh, such a rant. LOL And it kind of goes to show you didn't read what I wrote in that post when I "preached to others." I said "Might it be?"

And any man who ignores his wife's earnest wishes and apprehensions is no leader.

I must admit when I read those words about your not ignoring your wife's earnest wishes and apprehensions I was again reminded why I like you so much. Loving your wife like that will always keep her close. And isn't that what the Bible teaches about the husband loving the wife as Christ loves the church? We desire to follow close to Him because He loves us more than anyone. He made us that way. That kind of love constrains and motivates us each day.
;)

Joyful wife / Joyful church I also find it so sweet that as sheep we follow the Good Shepherd because He loves and cares for the sheep at all times and has no problem letting the sheep know and see this about Him. He says "My sheep here My voice and follow me"

1Jn 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Act 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Love is a sacrifice of our time, money to help the poor, and our lives, giving up the pleasures of this world,to help all those in need.

What seems to be a sacrifice at first because we have these "earth suits" turns out to be the best thing we can do for others and ourselves and most of all the Lord. When we "put on Christ" it always yields the peaceable fruits of righteousness ... (doing what we were born to do) Obeying God always - always - always turns out well for us. When Christ is living His life through us we are at our most joyful and happiest.

Ever hear of a wrathful lamb?

Revelation 6:16 KJVS
[16] And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

Remember the sheep of His pasture are never afraid of the wrath of Their Shepherd. All wrath has been put on Him so we are free to follow Him knowing He has and always will love and protect us. We are the sheep of HIS pasture. We are now IN the Beloved.

It is those who are outside of the fold that have to fear. We must always make that distinction because many religious people will not. It is our job as sheep to always tell of the goodness and love of our Good Shepherd Jesus. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Those who come to Him He will in no way cast them out. He is the door. Amen.

When approaching God, is our motive to gain His love and approval?
Or is it because we believe we are already loved in the Beloved?

Ephesians 1:6 KJVS
[6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

1 John 4:10 KJVS
[10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:19 KJVS
[19] We love him, because he first loved us.
