Shouldn't "saturdays" be capitalized "Saturdays"? ;)

It's an English language thing, i think.
I, on purpose, don't capitalize it.

Its already enough of an idol as it is. Just not my idol.

Like God, and god. ;)

Thanks, Deade, but I don't understand why Law keepers are so reluctant to give us a list of effective ordinances. With such a list in hand it would be easier for us to understand what you guys teach.

Greetings Marcelo,

It is the similar to asking you to write down a list of etiquette that you practice within your family and friends and church members. The Holy Spirit who is our teacher, and the scriptures NT & OT are a body of knowledge that we continue to learn and understand. To those who are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit find there is be an almost insistent conscience towards situations that press moral, ethical, compassionate, reasonable boundaries. Our maintenance of our proximity to God and the leading of His Holy Spirit through Faith/reading of His Scripture and prayer and meditation on His ways determines "the list" you refer to. How does one search the scripture for specifics on how to treat other drivers in rush hour traffic at 70 mph? We have universal principals such as "love our neighbors as ourselves" Which is a great place BTW to observe how many people are surrendered to that principal! But while that universal principal practiced mechanically from a list is admirable, the Laws upon our hearts are indispensable. So, when the Holy Spirit takes us to the Torah, as we should all read all the scriptures, are we open to the writing upon our hearts from these Laws? Or do we dogmatically reject any Faith we might obtain from these areas of Gods Words?

Bottom line, the intricacies of Gods command of a surrendered heart to Him relies heavily upon our daily even moment by moment surrender to His will through reading, prayer, meditation and even fasting. This "list" you ask about is relative to this. If today a man keeps himself, his mind on God (Isa 26:3; Phil 4:6-7) That list is long, yet easy to remember. If tomorrow a man walks in his own strength, that list is short.

Pro 3:1-12 NIV My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, (2) for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. (3) Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. (4) Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. (5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (6) in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (7) Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. (8) This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. (9) Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; (10) then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. (11) My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, (12) because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Do you think Gods commandments can now be forgotten, allowed to slip our of our hearts?

Okay, excellent reason to alter the rules of English! I back you up 1000%! I don't even like to "say" the days of the week let alone write them.

English is a fluid language isn't it?! Just as I can if I choose use two grammatical terminations to the previous sentence to make the sentence both inquisitive and an exclamation. And, I can start a sentence with "and" if I choose. You just won't play nice GP! You treat lightbearer poorly! I know why, and so do you and everyone else who is on here. The beauty of this forum is your perceived liberty to condescend with venom knowing you don't have to look into the eyes of a man who is filled with the Holy Spirit looking back at you!

You would play a different "game" then, of that I am sure!

Thanks, SG! So, you mean you don't need a list of effective ordinances because you're guided by the Holy Spirit. But can you give me then a few examples of Mitzvot that you keep and other Christians don't? For example: Did you get circumcised?

Not only that but He said, "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

And what does our Lord and Savior Jesus mean by least in heaven?

"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."
(Matt 5:19,20)

Hey lightbearer,

I appreciate your view on this and am considering it. I have always seen the first two in vs 19 as “in the Kingdom of Heaven”, one has some error and shared that error, while the Pharisees were not in the Kingdom due to hypocrisy.

The first two followed what they understood about Gods laws;

The first one was obedient, but did so with some error.
The second was careful and obedient.

The third, the Pharisees, knew the law but didn’t obey, hence the hypocrisy. No entry into the kingdom.

The first two practice obedience to the Law, one carelessly, one carefully. Hence; “In the Kingdom of Heaven” This speaks to the “levels” of reward in the Kingdom.

The Pharisees did not obey. Hence; “Not in the Kingdom of Heaven”

Speaks directly to a solid working knowledge of His Laws!

Sincerely

SG :)

Did we have an unfinished conversation a week or two back where I mentioned an answer to your question why some were not required to be circumcised and the Judahites were?
It doesn't sound familiar. How about we start from the beginning?

No, I am not, but I know quantum physics is something nobody understands.

Does your church provide members with a list of effective Mitzvot, out of the original 613?
That's a great question, asking for a list. of those who say that Christians today should keep some portion of the written law of Moses, I have never had anyone post an actual list. Neither can I find one on the internet.

There seems to be a very real reluctance to actually write down the commandments.

I was tickled by part of your question; "Did you get circumcised"? I thought of an eight day old motioning to the; whoever does the circumcisions, to getter done! ;)

Not sure what you are getting at with the "mitzvot" line of questions. Is there a larger point you are driving at? No, I don't categorize myself in reference to others. I leave that to God. He separates us by our hearts. I treasure righteousness but recognize my shortcomings. Many treasure "right" ness. God knows the difference.

No, The body of beleivers I fellowship with regularly are over the phone or net with occasional visits. We study the Scriptures and receive our guidance from the Holy Spirit. We fellowship and share our understanding and work together to insure that we are being faithful to the scriptures.

Cannot say I know of any "churches" that do that. Does yours?
Please talk more about how often you physically get together in a particular location with other believers for fellowship, and what happens there.

How would you think it would affect us today? Not saying it wouldn't, but would like to hear your reasoning.
I don't think God giving isreal a certificate of divorce does affect what laws we are to keep today.

Okay, if your "thinking" is your standard for making that kind of determination that is your choice.

Marcelo, my advice is you want to start the spiritual application of Christ's commandments, ask yourself when and why each ordinance was established. Make an effort to keep the 10 Commandments and go from there. You will probably realize some things were established way before Sinai. View attachment 202144
Hi Deade,

I'm confused about what you believe. I thought when you and I were talking you had said that Christians didn't need to keep the law of Moses.

one suspicion that I have is that those who say we are to keep some portion of the written law of Moses are to some degree spiritually unhealthy.

One thing your doctor might ask you when assessing your physical condition is
Have you had a sudden unintended weight loss recently?
That's because there's a whole host of physical issues that can cause that sudden weight loss.

Similarly, I believe that healthy believers earnestly seek regular meetings with other believers. If a person says they don't, yet they feel that they in some way receive special knowledge from God, it raises suspicions in me.

Of course you don't have to answer. But again, if a person is unwilling to talk about how the views they put forward on the internet are actually played out in their daily lives, again it raises suspicions in me.

Goodness! It was just a simple way of wording it.

I'll try again
As I read the scriptures, they tell me that God giving Israel a certificate of divorce does not affect what laws we keep today.do you read the scriptures the same way? Do they say the same thing to you? if they say something different to you, please describe.

I know that you were talking to Marcelo, but I disagree very strongly that it is similar to asking someone to write down a list of etiquette that they practice within their family and friends and church members.

The law that Moses wrote down in the wilderness was just that, a set of written laws. If a person says that we are to keep the letter of some of those commandments, it wouldn't be too hard, it seems to me, to just go through what Moses wrote down, and highlight the parts one feels one is to keep today.

Then just copy the highlighted parts onto a separate sheet of paper, or your favorite word processing program.

They love to water down the mosaic law. Then scream at people that try to show them how they are taking the law ouyt of context as hating Gods law.

They prove they hate gods laws just by thei mere fact they water it down. And to not take it as written. And as required (obey every word)

Okay, if your "thinking" is your standard for making that kind of determination that is your choice.
Gods standard is that every word had to be confirmed by everyone, and obeyed, every word.

Failure to do so put the sinner under the curse of the law.

Why can you not accept this fact of the law?

Greetings Marcelo,

I was tickled by part of your question; "Did you get circumcised"? I thought of an eight day old motioning to the; whoever does the circumcisions, to getter done! ;)

You didn't answer my question; did you get circumcised or not? Circumcision doesn't have to be done at the eighth day; it can be done at a later date.

You didn't give me any example of ordinance that you keep. When I said "and others don't (keep)" my only intention was to make clear that I was referring to commandments of God that Law-keepers think are still effective while other Christians (non Law-keepers) think that are no longer effective. Ex.: Law-keepers think Christians must keep the Sabbath while non Law-keepers think otherwise.

My questions about lists of Mitzvot are intended to get clarification from you; they are an opportunity for you to get your point across.
