After the order of Melchizedek does not mean it could not have been Christ. Is Isaiah 6:9, we are told that to us a child is born and the Son is given. God made a distinction because the Son always existed but the child (His incarnate form) was born. Jesus existed before His birth, and there are several times He was observed in the Old Testament.

In the burning furnace, Christ appeared with the three men who stood for God. The king looked in and said, "Did we not throw in three men bound? Why do I see four men walking loose? And one looks like the Son of God."

Jesus said, "Abraham rejoiced to see my day." And, "Before Abraham was, I AM."

Again Hebrews says that the Levites, who do not pay tithes, paid tithes to God while still in Abraham's loins. This is referring to Abraham giving a tenth of what he had to Melchizedek. The tithe was to God. It is always to God.

Not only that, but the Bible identifies Melchizedek as the King of Righteousness and the King of Peace. There is only one king of righteousness and peace - God. Only God is unborn and without beginning or end. Only God is the king of righteousness. Only God is the king of peace.

Melchizedek is a two-part name which literally means King of righteousness / king of peace. This alone is a testimony of Christ. For in Christ, righteousness and peace are united. It is He who made us righteous through His cross so we could have peace with God. Even the bread and wine offered to Abraham was a foreshadow of the cross. What do bread and wine represent in the New Testament? The body and blood of Christ. These are all events that testify of Christ and point to what He would one day do on the cross. And now we look back and see them as evidence pointing to what He has done.
