Sorry, but the fact is ...
very few are given any of the 9 spiritual power gifts (1 Cor 12)
who have NOT been baptized with the Holy Spirit (by Jesus Himself),
the confirmation of which is at least a few words in tongues.

Believers are first baptized into the church by the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor 12 also).

For the power baptism of anointing, I recommend Matthew 7:7-11.
Good example of six wasted years of my life as a believer. This kind of poppycock.

Hint: Don't buy it -- anyone.

Orrrr, if you do I got some real estate just east of Atlantic City for you.

Let God guide you. He will show u if your supposed to be in some kind of spiritual ministry.
Theres so many gifts. The spiritual gifts are no more special than the other 7 from Romans.
Ask God :) and you'll receive
We're all supposed to be in some kind of Spiritual Ministry. The problem is "which ones?"

Hi all,

I have done spiritual gifts tests in the past ...but am wondering about the best way to discover spiritual gifts.Any suggestions?
The Holy Spirit is a still small voice, gently leading you forward. Will you listen to
His prompting and bless others with the words or actions He gives you?
Stepping out is always hard, because you need to be convinced it is right.
But in your soul you will know the time and place, just be patient.

Nope, but I do believe gifts are activated by the laying on of hands...
Mine weren't. God just showed me what I'm able to do in a myriad of stuff I'm not able to do.

Usually others see it in you. If I knew you and where the grace of Christ has used the most in your life, like let's say teaching, then I would see a manifestation of the gift of teaching (of course other women and also children). If you are talking about tongues, then...

we all 'stink' at some things, but Lynn, you are such an inspiration to hub and me and others here,
so what do you care about the 'other-Spiritual-gifts' that are out there?

we're going with what Jesus has given to us, and of course, ALWAYS seeking to IMPROVE in order
to HELP and TEACH and LOVE others as our Saviour has taught us how He Loves us and what we
must and are required to do in order to be 'like Him', and His Holy Love so freely given to us...

to make a long story short. learn to define, what is said in the bible first. the answer is plain to see.

?3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?4 Did you suffer so many things in vain---if indeed it was in vain?5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith--

So maybe we should consult our friends, who might recognize things in us that we don't see.

when i've been presented with one of these "
spiritual gift tests" i've thought the same thing, that this isn't really something i should be filling out myself.
they come across to me as more of a "
preference test" than an actual test for giftedness in any area. the ones i've seen ((only a few in total)) all ask questions about whether i'd rather do this or that, whether i like this or that, or what my favorite is out of these or those. so they are about my own desires, likes & dislikes, etc. they are asking what i'm most comfortable with or most pleased with, or what i value most, and they are not comprehensive in any way. i get the impression that they are modeled after some kind of career-matching survey.

but why should a "
spiritual gift" be correlated with what i personally prefer or enjoy? are those the same thing?
as an example, i played soccer ((football for all of you who aren't American)) for some 15 years. i like to play offense. i prefer to play offense. i like intercepting passes, trying to score goals, trying to put distance between myself and the defense to score passes. sprinting after loose balls and upsetting formed plays. but i'm not that great at ball control and i never really excelled at scoring. on the other hand i was really, really good at defense. match me with the other teams star player and for 90 minutes that dude is either not going to touch the ball at all, or he's going to be on his face in the pitch the moment he does. his passes are going out of bounds. he's not going to be open. he is not going to score. but i don't enjoy that or prefer that position. any "
soccer gifts test" in the format of all the "spiritual gifts tests" that i've ever seen is going to make me a forward -- but a smart, observant coach is going to put me on defense, and that's going to be better for the team. coach isn't going to ask me what i like to do -- coach is going to watch, and see what i actually excel at, and put me where i'm most effective, whether its what i'm inclined towards in my mind/heart or not.
same thing with American football, which i also played for about 6 years in school. i wanted to run the ball, or to be a receiver, catching passes and scoring. it's my favorite part of the game. but coach put me on the line on offense, and at defensive end, because coach saw that i'm really good at gaining leverage, tying up the defensive line and stuffing linebackers, and at throwing tight-ends off their game, sacking quarterbacks and wrecking end-around runs. what i "
liked" or "wanted" had little correlation with what was optimal for me to be doing for the sake of the team.

so i figure these kinds of tests ((in the format they are commonly designed)) are asking the wrong people. it doesn't matter if i want to teach - i hate it, am terribly frightened of it, and try really hard to avoid it. but other people tell me i'm good at it, and that they learn from what i say, and that i ought to do it. other people who never ask me if i "
want to" or "like to" or "am inclined to" when given a choice.

I must have taken the other kind then. I love to teach, but I'm not very good at it. I love to talk, but I'm better at listening. Despite being very good at talking, my gift is mercy ministry, not evangelism, nor teaching. I may well talk your ear off, but when you tell me stuff, I remember, can offer encouragement, prodding, or actual physically help, depending on what's needed. The part that annoys people is I remember long-term. (It's annoying, because if someone tells me they're going through a rough patch in their marriage and what they did wrong, three to nine months later, they may come back playing the victim, but I still remember what they did too. So, they're expecting comfort, and I give them prod. But prod is mercy.)

As for soccer? I'm best left far away from the field. lol

Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift in him that as given through the laying on of hands, by the elders...

So you know there are nine different gifts, and that people don't all receive them,
yet you think that ALL must be given the gift of tongues? Why is that? I know several people who have gifts of the spirit but never spoke in tongues
The tongues I spoke of is NOT one of the 9.
It is simply the confirmation of receiving.

Should there be an activation by a prophet?
Several places in the NT we read that the apostle(s) and prophet(s) are the leaders of the churches.
They appoint the evangelists, pastors, and teachers.
Please see Ephesians 4:11 for the 5-fold ministry.

Nonsense!!!!

The order of the gifts in scripture have nothing to do with their rank or power over the other gifts....the 5 fold ministry work together for the maturing and equipping of ALL the saints....not lording over each other and causing division and strife...

I had a delusional couple come up to me one time and he was Apostle Bubba and his wife was Prophet Mamma Bear.....As a Pastor, I threw them out so quick they had to blink to catch it....

They came in saying how the Lord sent them to correct me and to mature me....foolishness....pure foolishness and self proclaiming gifts.....

The most anointed man in the local church is the local Pastor....

Yeah we know you are leaning on Acts 2 here and individual tongues and not gift of tongues....but you are still wrong...

Jesus said for them to tarry in Jerusalem until they be clothed[endued] w/Power from on high to be witnesses...You don't need heavenly prayer language to be a witness...but you do need the love of God shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit...which will then baptize you in the 9 gifts as the Spirit severally wills...

I believe 3 times in the NT ...
we read about "the apostles and prophets" leading the church(es) in something.
The impression is they are the leaders, and that they appoint the other leaders of the church.
IOW, they are led by the Spirit in leading the churches.
