Never once have I advocated Christian Perfection and for you to insist as such is a complete lie.

I believe in living a life of consecration unto the Lord so that the desires of the flesh and our own selfish agendas do not get in the way of God's purposes for our lives.

I believe that the bible teaches that sin has consequences (in this life and the next) and that sin clouds our ability to minister effectively.

That has always been my personal stance.

You are the one sowing strife but putting words in peoples mouths and making wold accusations in order to make yourself and your beliefs appear to more pious.

Why must insist treating anyone who disagrees with you like dirt?

Have you ever considered seeing a doctor for your behavioral issues?
sorry
i've been preoccupied because i am in love.
its distracting me from these threads,

did you admit you are FireOnThe Altar?

we could save alot of useless repetition.

Do people get sick and die due to a lack of faith ? Can we have anything we want ...... if only we have the faith ? Is our faith meant to give us hope for an extra few years on this planet ...... or is it for the assurance in the hope and the promise of eternity in His glorious presence ? I would truly like to see somebody, anybody ...... use their faith "properly". Lots of sick people waiting in hospitals to be healed. We witness best by our actions regardless of the good intent of our words.
To quote Yoda: Do or do not there is no try!

You do not try because you do not believe in faith oriented healing Therefore you have little faith it's alright Jesus knew this he knew the faith of most was very weak and even He did not cure every sick person he passed by.
Please don,t take this as a slam I ain't claiming my faith is stronger than anyones Fes, just pointing out what I think is the root cause for the problem of cessationism.
Relying strictly on scripture alone puts too much emphasis on faith of the correct translations by men of a book compiled 333 years after Jesus death and translated through 4 languages and as I said before this doesn't mean throw the baby out with the bathwater but rather look for the similtudes and rely heavily on Jesus's actual words.
He never said one thing wrong so if any one who wants to debate over what Jesus said I say let them argue with the Lord.
Did he not say those words recorded by Matthew17:20?

Did he not mean it literally?

If he didn't mean it literally why say it?

Smaller than The size of a mustard seed is truly the majority's faith level regardless if you are Christian or not!
But to say that casting out demons or healing or prophecy stopped
is to have little faith and if people who were casting out demons in Jesus time were getting hassled by the Apostles why do you think it would be any different today Pentecost? Jesus had to Go but the Holy Spirit has never left. God is not a bad sheperd he would not leave the flock unattended ever!

Oh my! this is gona take some time. To start with the premise is wrong. As that everything else no matter
how perfect it is wont make it right.

the key here is first to start with healing
next it would be what is and is not faith
then is faith what heals

This is a big subject. And i can see already that there is a belief that
faith heals....so that will just make its dialogue impossible.

Id recommend that the Healings of Jesus and the Apostles had a purpose and(not understanding the purposes of the healings)
that you might be taking what you think are promises in the gospels, but were prophetic to the disciples only(apostles later)
And a unlearned knowledge of the book of Isaiah...and the quote from Isaiah in Peters epistle

If they ceased, how come I was supernaturally 100% healed of a serious heart condition at a Vineyard church in July 2010. Obviously, it surprised everyone who knows me, not the least of which was me, and of course I no longer take medicine for a condition which no longer exists. And yes I felt it happen.

Strict cessationism simply isn't true and I have a new heart to prove it. And yes I still have arthritis at this time and no I've never spoken in tongues, etc...

Well your wrong about faith not being a force it is the greatest gift and force you have ever been given

when your will is in line with Gods will then you are certain to succeed because God will listen to you and

know what your asking for is not for your own benefit but for others and he will answer.
.
We can ask for self as long as it goes along with Gods will we may recieve what we ask for in prayer if it doesn't get answered then perhaps we should look into what we asked for.

I.E. winning lotto numbers, bad Idea unless your gonna help out a lot of needy with the winnings

I.E.Praying for The brother who wasn't married for 40 years and finally found some one who would

accept him for who he was (when everyone thought this was impossible) and married her. I am still

dizzy over the extrapolation and disection of that quandry yet! But it happened!

Prayers get answered everyday somewhere in the world all ya need is a little faith!

Somebody that day in July 2010 was filled with faith and whos prayers were answered no magic no voodoo just good old fashioned faith!

Perhaps the Lord had more work for you Brother?

Every day is a blessing and the older I get the more thankful I become!

Was this at one of those laughing revivals?
Or a church that had them?

It does not say that the apostles were the only ones doing his work at the time quite the contrary actually.
  1. Mark 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
  2. Luke 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

Jesus meant this message for all men not just the Apostles
  3. Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Thank you Muskoman.

No Abiding it wasn't. I've never been to a "laughing revival" (or rolling, moaning, howling or any other like type of revival) though I've read about the "holiness laughter" movement that occurred and, of course, understand the mainstream apologetical criticism of them.

It happened at a backyard men's barbecue after we had worshiped for a time and then broken into small groups to pray for each other. This was the church that hosted the Men's barbecue, worship, and prayer gathering: Welcome to The River! / The River / Welcome...

Good to hear. and hearing more is cool. I doubt these threads teach us alot. But they do
help in small ways. Im a man without a label as yet. But the word says to do as you did.
And that healing may come. James is what im refering to. Besides God heals anytime He wants.
Even cessationists believe that.

I think these threads need to be put togather a little more careful since they can
be so easily misunderstood.

Oh my, now things are ever more complicated.
Now we have demons, healing and others....ok

Matthew verse doesnt apply to healing

Matthew verse does apply to demons and mountain moving.

Yes i agree demons will obey a command from a believer in Jesus name. Spoken in faith(which simply believes)

So where are we now?...gets tough when another thing slips into the convo

right...that last paragraph only referred to healing.
