From Billy's rules for studying scripture:

If there appears to be a conflict, stop and resolve the conflict. God's word does not conflict!

Strong's-#3404
hate- gr. miseo- hatred; to detest (especially to persecute) by extension; Love LESS

Strong's 3404 can mean to hate, to detest or to love less. All three words mean something different. Which one of those definitions did God intended in that verse and how do you know?

Ok, there's a lot of Greek and Hebrew folks who say the word of God is preserved in the copies of the original languages. If this is true then how do we know what God intended in that verse? What is the preserved word in that verse... hate, detest or love less? Anybody???

I never open my Bible without my Webster's dictionary and my Greek and Hebrew dictionary.
There is no understanding of what is said in the Word if we do not understand every word.
Its a process. It takes time. And it takes much prayer.
Wow! You actually still use printed books while studying? Yay! Way cool!

Hubby used to too, but I couldn't even give him a good night kiss if he was studying because he had four feet of books around him. (Strong's Concordance isn't merely a good door stop. lol) I was quite pleased that by the time I got around to actually studying scripture eSword showed up. Now those four feet of books all fit on my computer screen, and no one has to put them away afterward.

I use Quickverse 10 when i study the Scriptures at home. When i'm away from home i study the Bible in book form.

Many, many, many people really do not want the Truth from God in the Scriptures. Many people want their ears tickled with heresy instead.

2 Timothy 4:3-4
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
[SUP]4 [/SUP] and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Fables. Here is a few Fables that the Catholics live by.

1. Mary was sinless.
2. Mary is our Mediator.

Romans 3:10
[SUP]10 [/SUP] As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;

Romans 3:23
[SUP]23 [/SUP] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 5:12
[SUP]12 [/SUP] Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--

ALL have sinned and ALL includes Mary also.

1 Timothy 2:5
[SUP]5 [/SUP] For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

There is only one Mediator between God and men, not two like the Catholics teach.

The reason we have contradictions in doctrines is because of evil men trying to deceive the very elect into following their teaching and rejecting the Truth from God to satisfy their own itching ears.

It is all about what the heart desires, like if I was a stiffneck drunk, I will change the perception of the word to fit into my lifestyle; Like i will state from the scriptures to others to drink and be merry, because I doesn't want to hear the truth but to twist it around a little, subtract or ignore what I dislike and or to add what I like until it fits into my personal lifestyle..

Miles Coverdale's rules of Bible study:

1) What is spoken
2) Of whom
3) With what words
4) At what time
5) To what intent
6) With what circumstances, considering what goes before and what follows, i.e., context.

"A text apart from its context is a pretext." Then study the facts of the context in the light of related passages and axiomatic fundamental truths. "... No prophecy of scripture is of private (special) interpretation" (2 Peter 1:20); "The sum of thy word is truth" (Psalm 119:160).
I would add---

Who is he speaking to

There are many different Doctrines and teachings from the Scriptures that different groups use different verses to try and defend their belief about what is being taught.

Good examples are Doctrines about Salvation and the Rapture and the tribulation.

How can we have so many different teachings on the same subject? Does this mean God contradicts Himself? Or could it be because we are mere Humans we do not have the ability to completely understand what God is saying?
God (and Jesus Christ, who is God in flesh) is quoted many times in Scripture. I doubt you’ll find any time he contradicts himself.

We need to be Bible believers, not Bible correcters...

The reason we have so many different teachings is because no one really believes the bible exactly for what it says. Prime example below. Plain, simple, easy to read and easy to understand English.... and people wont believe it.

1 Timothy 2:12 KJV
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
