Well, if GOD is the one who gives us a soul, how can it possibly be an "inheritance" from family genes? I mean, inheriting things such as grandma's dimples or daddy's smile, yeah. LOL. But I don't think the soul is a familial inheritance.
You never want to get me into a soul debate. (Or maybe you do because I don't get "soul" at all. lol) But, if God can create a genome that took 5 years for scientist to map out on a super computer, don't you think he could jam a soul in one of those little gene thingies?

Granted, I've got no idea how brown-eyes register in a DNA sequence, but maybe a soul does too. (And I say that leaning toward there is no such thing as soul, until we start talking Marvin Gaye or Whitney Houston. They HAD soul! lol)

Let's just say that... there's ALOT of stuff that makes complete sense to ME, that the rest of you wouldn't be able to make sense out of.. LOL

Serious question: Don't you think my mind is pretty simple?

I don't get that at all. Looks too complex.

I don't know anything about the Mormon church blue.

What the spirit babies were asking for was to be redeemed. ??? Apparently, our desire is to be redeemed. At least that is how I see it right now.

This serpent seed thing has kind of crept into thinking by Jesus calling Pharisees sons of vipers. I don't agree with this because God has lumped all mankind under sin. Is a mindset more...again, my opinion. Opinions are subject to truth though.
Question from my sheer ignorance:
What is a spirit baby?

Why don't y'all just accept the Biblical definition of soul?

Man does not have a soul but is a living soul.

Scripture does say that Adam became a living soul. But, for me to try to state my opinion here of this? Would bring the wrath of CC down on me.

Now the plot thickens. "The spirit shall return unto God who gave it."

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
It looks like we are going to need more coffee and these...

Revelation 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
God is outside of our human perception of time, and how he sees is outside of our full perception..
If God is at the beginning and the end, He knows you before you were born because he saw it already.
Colossians 1:16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Isaiah 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
We were created for God's glory.. it never really is about the individual person but it always points to what God
is doing, did or has done/ or will do, and who He is.

(Ps 100:3)

Know that the LORD, He [is] God; [It is] He [who] has made us, and not we ourselves; [We are ]His people and the sheep of His pasture.

My own personal view of the soul is 2-fold.

1) It is the life that is being expressed in us and that we possess. In other words we are living and not dead.

Here is an example of the Greek word for soul which is "psuche" being used in this manner which would also go along with Adam becoming a living soul. ( The Greek word psuche for soul is used in Gen. 2:7 )

Matthew 2:20 (NASB)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] "Get up, take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child's life are dead."

Here is Jesus using the word in the same manner.

Mark 10:45 (NASB)
[SUP]45 [/SUP] "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

2) I believe that the soul is a reflector of what we are thinking and believing.

For example: - The soul has emotions and when we are afraid - this manifests in our behavior and affects our thinking.

When we are trusting God then we experience a rest and peace in our emotions which are a part of our soul. Both are "reflecting" what we are believing and thus influencing the quality of life we are experiencing.

I am sure there is a lot more to it then just what my current understanding is.

The word "know" is also used in the sense to know intimately - like Adam knew his Eve. Ginosko is a Greek word which means "to know experientially". I'll have to look the verse up in the Septuagint to see what Greek word is used just for the fun of it.

What you said in brown above is your own thoughts on the matter or do you have some scripture that backs this up? I find the theory interesting about "being" before we are actually born - whether in God's mind only as you have said or as a spirit only that was with God. Thanks.
(Not trying to sound snooty or whatever, just a gut reaction to your concept)

But we do know what we were before zygotes. Genetic DNA, plasma, atoms, all being passed along from Dad to Mom. It's not like I was eating some popcorn and watching a movie in this huge amphitheater in the clouds before Dad and Mom had some passion.
