While it makes good copy, this made-up story is completely misleading because it is based on a false premise, and employs a false dichotomy.

The truth is that the KJV was translated from printed Greek editions, which were in turn constructed from very few late and incomplete manuscripts. There are far more manuscripts available now, there is better scholarship, there is broader knowledge, and the modern translators don't answer to the theological whims of an English king.

Further, many of the words in the KJV are truly archaic (when was the last time you used "trow" or "wimples" when you weren't reading or referring to the KJV?) and many have commonplace meanings today that they simply did not have in 1611.

The KJV is not the standard by which all translations are judged. Arguments based on the premise that it is are inherently flawed and often self-refuting.
Like I said, it is how I view the translation debate. The King James Bible is unique and stands out among the crowd. I know the King James Bible is the word of God and no man is going to convince me otherwise. You cannot see it because you have hardened your heart to the notion that God has given you His pure word! (Psalm 119:140)

Exodus 20 begins by saying "And God spake all these words saying."

Do you believe that God actually said those words in Exodus 20?
Absolutely! The parts revealed by prophets where God’s words are recorded I believe can be trusted wholeheartedly given the strict parameters of testing them.

How are you testing them?

It was to address your misconceived notion that any man or woman had to be perfect for God to preserve His word perfectly. Who is in control?
I think men have free will and their actions will be judged but God does not continually interfere in the affairs of the Prince of Darkness.

What do you make of Genesis 50:20 based on what happened in Genesis 37?

Your silly, incorrect and baseless ad hominem fallacy is noted.

I didn’t test them. In order for someone to be considered a prophet he had to be a Jew, perform miracles and have 100% accuracy. If they failed they were stoned.

First of all I said continually, because God can and does make change in the world. Secondly, that had to do with a natural famine, not directly opposing someone else’s will. There are those who willingly serve Lucifer and they are in our churches and governments planting seeds of division and subversion. There is going to come a day when we will give an account. Our rewards won’t be based on what we read, it will be based on how we acted. Our love for people and this world and especially our dedication and obedience to God will be valued. It’s almost comical that many/most Christians think that their whole mission is to go to church and read the Bible and after death they go to Heaven. That’s about as accurate as it is for an individual to go to school, get decent marks then upon graduation, retire and collect a pension. People aren’t impressed with an artist because of his knowledge of design. He is honoured for his workmanship and application of the knowledge. Nobody watched Wayne Gretzky, Bruce Lee, or Michael Jackson because they knew things. It’s because they applied things they knew. Neither is Satan shaking because of how many verses a Christian can utter. The Word has power through application. If you think your mission is to defend the validity of the King James Version, then congratulations Satan. He has kept you completely distracted from making a difference for God. “Do not merely read the Word and so deceive your yourselves, do what it says.” I don’t care what section it’s from, or even what version, I understand what means and that is what scripture is intended to do; teach so we can do! I’ve spent enough time lately on CC. I’m taking some of my own advice. Be blessed all, I won’t be back soon.

You are certainly welcome to believe anything you like. When you make insulting comments about other believers or other Bible versions you are Wrong! Your beliefs will ALWAYS be more valuable to you than to ANYONE else. This is especially true when you are wrong; which, IMO, is most of the time.

I did not make an insulting comment. What I said is true. The same goes for you. If it is your desire to have a Bible with errors that you have to go around making corrections in with lexicons then that is what you will get. The problem is what you believe concerning the written word of God. Change that and then your eyes might opened. Prove me wrong using the word of God because "opinions" do not count for much.

I was in the camp of using many translations, lexicons, interlinear bibles, and concordances to gain a better understanding of God's word but something didn't 't feel right about and I became discouraged. I had issues with the King James Bible (Acts 12:4) at that time. It didn't change my belief that God's word was perfect as far as the original manuscripts go but I had a genuine desire for that perfect truth in a manner that eliminated a middle man such as a scholar or a translator. I believe it was my desire and want to have the pure word of God that led to the opening of my eyes because they were closed.

"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise." (1 Corinthians 3:18)

Does anyone really think they are wise enough to correct the word of God?

“Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6)

I do not believe that anyone on the forum would undertake an attempt to correct the Word of God.

It is often appropriate to correct the work of men who undertake to be translators and copyists.

The Word of God is ALWAYS absolutely right. The work of men is often wrong.

Do not forget the subject is the pure word of God and not salvation or the belief in Jesus Christ. I know you believe the Gospel. I also know that you are sincere but the truth is you are wrong on the issue of the preservation and translation of the word of God.

Is there a difference between the "word of God" and the "Word of God?"
