I heard a quote once "A full understanding and knowledge of the Bible is the fastest way to Atheism" Not word for word but the same idea. Im curious to know what you people think of this quote. I of course believe it to be untrue.
If you ONLY seek 'understanding and knowledge' you probably were an atheist to begin with: it's a scientific mindset. A christian also needs Illumination of the Holy Spirit to truly 'understand' scripture. 'Understanding scripture' then means trying to find out God's will: THAT's the mindset of a believer.

Sounds like a blanket statement used in conversion tactics. Of course it's highly subjective, to say the least. I find it ironic and sense it's the kind of thing that's born of spite, not "understanding."

There have been a number of people in history for whom this statement has actually worked the other way around. Listen to any Atheist-turned-Christian give their testimony, and you will most likely hear them tell you about how the Bible led them to true Wisdom when they finally decided to start reading it earnestly. In my own life, I have actually met people who are living proof of this. They got to know the Bible like the back of their hands while they were atheists, slowly turned the wheel towards agnostics, and eventually came full circle to becoming a Christians.

So yes, I suppose you are right... the statement is a rather silly thing for atheists to say.

Another odd thing that they say would be something I heard a while back from an atheist friend of mine. She was debating me about God and brought up the whole "If-God-why-evil-thing." Her exact statement to me on disproving God was the following, as close as I can remember it:

"I don't believe in God because He took my father from me by giving him lung cancer." Hem hem. Who took your father from you? Who gave him lung cancer? How can God give people lung cancer and kill them if He doesn't exist, pray tell? Plus, He didn't even give your father lung cancer in the first place, so your reason for atheism is null and void (*allow yourself a snicker at her emotional lack of logic here. It is rather a pity, though.) At the end of the day, Atheism is not be based on knowledge. It is only be based on emotions and the desire for independence from moral obligation and a Higher Power. The whole axel of this wheel is usually just resentment and pride.

I don't really think a full understanding/knowledge would lead their, but if taught improperly it can lead there. My best friend from high school use to be baptist until the pastor started yelling at kids that it was their fault that Yeshua died on the cross. At that point my friend turned away and became an athiest.

((next breath))

"
let me tell you about infinite parallel universes completely unreachable from ours! real cutting-edge science stuff!"

Obviously the statement will not get support here because we are Christians. But it is clear you did not ask it to gain support.,You wanted someone to discern your need, for God to nurture. You even stated that you brought it up to reinforce the fallacy of its conclusions..

.Hence, doubt is your plight of worry? If so, The statement to me highlights the fact that we operate on the teachings of our coach. We have two of them, Jesus said we are no better than our Master. This reading of the bible and falling into disbelief is a Satan- based debate opportunity being suggested by his minions of earth, the carnal- hearted man that wants to delight in others sin...which Jesus also talked about in the direction and finish line of sins destiny...death and Apostasy. Apostasy is when we start out enjoying sin without conscience then sin drives us to delight in others sinning. Sin has a direction...and if we read this statement of lies, and conclude what the statement indicates is not a lie, Someone would have to lie and delight in the sin of the one buying that con job;Apostasy! Hmmmm, I wonder who, as a coach, would be able and willing to do that? Oh I don't know, maybe SATAN!

Life is about where you place your faith and Mind, and Satan loves a non-believer to read scripture and Satan will help him distort it, ridicule it, and all for the purpose of turning to the Christian for attack. Satan has a agenda, and the bible that they mock has illustrated the truth of that evil seeded conclusion.. For every Godly creation, Satan has a fake version, a empty version, a deadly version, an utterly corrupt version...This is what I see.

I have heard such people speak, it was on their Holiday God set aside just for them. You didn't know God has given them a day of celebration? Oh Yah!!...Lot's of people are their too........It's April 1st, they call it Fools day!

The scripture that says there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors...this scripture is
emphasizing the word COUNSELORS here; Godly advice, not majority rules. For if majority rules why is the wide road and not the narrow road headed to Hell?

Jesus Thanks His Father

“I thank you, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11:25-27
Indeed for what has been hidden from the wise and intelligent must be found in the infants to truly know more that he has to offer us. which no one Will listen to them for there not wise or intelligent.
