By dissecting and tearing apart each scripture without trying to find the spiritual meaning of it, if we tear into each scripture legalistically we can make scripture say anything. By setting aside our legalistic mind and putting on the mind of Christ, we just find love. Love leads us to obedience.

Obedience would lead us back to scripture, and we would abhor what isn't of God and love what comes from God. That is why I prefer what God says about celebrating Christ to what a bunch of self styled experts decided on, even if it was over a thousand years ago they decided on it.

The Jews wrote the Talmud and even Christ knew about it, it was before our Easter tradition. Christ didn't think much of the talmud, Christ wanted them to stick to the bible. That sounds like a good idea to me, tradition or no.

And yet if you try to explain to others the problems with syncretism you are ridiculed as a Judaizer and castigated for trying to warn others of the associated problems.
I agree......

John 14:1) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 .) In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 .) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 .) And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
He returns to the earth (you have heard of the second coming) and He stays here. We are with Him.

John 17:16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 .) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 .) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 .) And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 .) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 .) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 .) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 .) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24 .) Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 .) O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 .) And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
You are not of this world. The word for world is...

G2889
κόσμος
kosmos
kos'-mos
Probably from the base of G2865; orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by implication the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants, literally or figuratively [morally]): - adorning, world.

And we are speaking of society, culture, not of leaving this planet...

All you had to do is quote the previous verse...

Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Matthew 1:1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2 .) And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 .) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 .) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
This passage says nothing about going to heaven.

John 3:3) There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 .) The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 .) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Again, geography is not mentioned here.

(and there are many more..........)
No, actually there are not. In fact the ones you quoted do not speak of leaving this earth to go to heaven. Here is what Christ says about going to heaven...

Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

So no one prior to this has gone to heaven including Enoch and Elijah...

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Here is the truth about a man after God's own heart...

Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Christ says we are not going to heaven...

Joh 13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

What He does say is that He is going to return...

Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

And that we will rule here on the earth with Him...

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

By the way, meekness is a quality we should strive for. What happens to the meek?

Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

You are free to believe as you wish.......and God bless.......and I am free to believe as I wish.......yea God!

(not for nothing, but in the "Good Morning" thread [Miscellaneous Forum] I spoke of this whole thing a couple of days ago..... :)

Like I said there.......paraphrasing..........I don't believe we will be on earth for all eternity.......BUT IF IT PROVES to be true, then all I ask is God give me a small plot of land where I can grow my veggies and flowers...........I WOULD COUNT THAT AS AN ETERNAL BLESSING.....

......anyway, I will not enter into debate over such.......including all the "end times" stuff.............'cuz to me it doesn't matter.............

I WON'T BE HERE!

This "kosmos" commonly translated as world, in John 3:16

"For God so loved the "ORDERLY" __world here is a poor translation.

Apparently my church committed heresy then, since we held an Spring Fling celebration a week ago at which children from preschool age to fifth grade hunted Easter eggs. During the occasion we reached, over 500 families in the neighborhood, some church and some not. However at the end of the event, a Gospel presentation was made for the crowds.

I understand the need to stand true to the bible. Honest, I do. However if we as Christians can't find the space to adapt, (not compromise) but adapt, then where is the lost world to turn? You are right, like most major Christian holidays, the Easter Bunny and all those trappings are based on ancient Pagan rituals. But the reason we have the celebration today is because priests and missionaries agreed to keep some semblance of the Pagans celebrations in order to save their souls. Granted the first missionaries were not the warm, fuzzy and love them to Jesus types, but they did adapt, not compromise, but adapt in order to spread the word of God.

There is a very big difference between adapting and compromising. Adapting means we show the love of God and Christ in a more modern light, different from what has been seen. Compromising means we allow the world and society to tell us what we should and should not believe. As my pastor says, "I'm tired of the lost world telling me, a Christian, how a Christian should behave."

I'm surprised no one has said it yet, so I guess I'll go ahead and be the bad guy.:p

While Jesus' resurrection is certainly vital, monumental and pivotal......

It's not Biblical.
It's not commanded anywhere in Scripture to anyone.
If it wasn't for pagan/"christian" syncretism, no one would be celebrating it today.

I know of plenty of awesome, spirit-filled Believers who celebrate it with good intentions, so that's between them and God.
Just know that it's not a Biblical holiday.

(Let the hostile debate begin!)
How do you get through each day? Considering the names of every day and every month have pagan roots.

I just use numbers instead.
Sunday = Day 1
Monday = Day 2
Saturday= Day 7

;)

There's a difference between common things that have nothing to do with God (i.e. days of the week), and things that are involving God.
