God made us into a Kingdom of Priests. Priests minister to God and to others. Isolation does lend to that very well.:)

1 Peter 2:9-10 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

Although I must admit, the thought of being able to spend time like that every now and then sounds appealing!

Shalom,
Matt

Shalom,

But I heard they do visit communities to help people at times, so it's not so isolated I heard
Matthew28 NASB
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Bryan, you cannot accomplish Jesus commission by living a life as a Buddhist monk. The country where I live 90 percent of the population are practicing Buddhist at some level. As I stated in one of your previous threads, my wife and I live next to a large Buddhist temple and my wife grew up in the Buddhist faith. Monks are not an isolated group of people and they interact with their community on an everyday basis. Jesus did not simply say that I am showing you the way, he said He is The Way.

John 14:6 NASB

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

God bless you!

Hi Bryan, I understand your enthusiasm about living an exciting life for Jesus in a far away country so why not direct all that energy and enthusiasm you have toward foreign missions. And you can start that research today by reading all you can find about Christian missions. Who knows but that maybe in a few years your church will be sending you out to the mission fields.

William Carey, 1761-1834 - Baptist missionary to India. Known as the father of modern missions.
Hudson Taylor, 1832-1905 - Missionary to China, medical doctor for 50 years, known for his respect for the Chinese culture.
Amy Carmichael - 1867-1951 - Missionary to India considered a career in missions after learning about Hudson Taylor about the need for missionaries in China - if you can read the book, "A chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael." by Elisabeth Elliot, a missionary to South America. And of course without a doubt you should read about the missionary journey's of the Apostle Paul in your bible.

Just a few thing to think about, God bless!
