In light of what has happened in the US recently with the shooting of innocent children I know this will be a touchy subject, yet at the same time I also think it is the best time to discuss it. On Friday, I was in CC chat when the news was just breaking of the shootings. One lady typed about the evil b****** that did this (her words, not mine) the shooting raised anger and hatred towards the gunman who did this. This, obviously, is a natural response but it also concerns me. In Matthews gospel, Jesus talks about the Signs at the end of the age, chapter 24 v 12 it says "Because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold.

Think about those words.

We hear about the "great falling away" and many say "no, not me!I will stand firm to the end!" but how easy is it for us to get angry when we see evil being let loose. At present we are only seeing the tip of the ice berg. Its going to get a whole lot worse before Jesus comes back. If we look at Noah before the flood it says "The Lord saw how great mans wickedness on the earth had become and that EVERY inclination of the thoughts of his heart was ONLY evil ALL the time". God is a gracious God. He waited until the very last minute to wipe out the earth and I believe He will wait again because God is the same God yesterday and forever. He will wait until the last minute for people to get saved, or until all hope in those not following him is gone.If this is the case just imagine how bad it will be living amongst those people. living amongst those like this guy who shot these children? Will we get bitter? Angry? will we lose our love? Will it grow cold because of the evilness in the world increasing to such an extent it will have a detrimental effect on us?

Jesus tells us to love our enemies and from a natural perspective that seems so much easier said than done. God loves from an eternal prospective. He loves people 100% , we cant do anything to make Him love us less, neither can we do anything to make Him love us more. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.God loved that gunman as much as He loved the children that died. Jesus died for both.

The bible also tells us that our fight is not against flesh and blood. So what is the eternal prospective here? 20 children are now in the arms of Jesus FOR ETERNITY, never to feel pain again, never to cry again, experiencing the amazing love and joy of our God and one young guy is not.He will never know what it is to recieve Gods forgiveness, Gods healing, Gods love. Satan claimed a soul.Satan screwed up a young guy so badly that he had no sense of right and wrong anymore. Satan, the enemy of mankind, the one who seeks to kill and destroy ANYONE made in the image of God.

To stop love growing cold we need an eternal prospective. We need to keep our eyes firmly fixed on loving our enemies and KNOWING without a doubt who is behind the evil.No matter how evil a person gets, no matter how bad they hurt others our love for their eternal souls should never falter.

Amen. I feel sorry for those held responsible for evil, because their reward is not something to be admired. Their reward is partly to watch us suffer, to kill, steal, and destroy, and as long as evil is present with us, we will suffer, because that's part of their reward. If confronted with the possibility to lose my life by a gun shot, I would willingly allow my flesh to die in order for that person to have their reward a bit longer, cause it's a temporary one, and torment follows. I do hope that torment for these is not everlasting, and it's possible for some to be in everlasting punishment temporarily. As long as their are some being punished/destroyed/tormented forever, then it's everlasting, but that doesn't mean it's forever for everyone. I definitely wouldn't even want to spend a little time in that torment, and so I don't want others to as well, but I have hope that for many it's not forever.

I forgive the person who killed those children, because I blame those responsible for that person being that way to begin with. Hate is the same as murder/killing/capital punishment, and I agree that we ought to forgive and love these, even if it takes our life in this flesh. Good post.

I love you all.

Fantastic post, twofeet! As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:37. Even so Lord Jesus, come. BUT in the meantime, those of us who are looking for His return, must act in love in EVERY area of life. Love is nothing if shown only to the good who we believe deserve it. Love contains the precept of forgiveness. If there is no forgiveness.. there is no love. These are the last days and believers are being challenged more and more and being called on to show obedience to the commands of Jesus in a greater way every day.

The enemy will cause more and more evil in this world. And God will respond by giving more and more love and forgiveness. We can do nothing more than follow God.

I remember when hearing the news the first thing I thought "Those babies are in the arms of Jesus now" the second thing I thought, "A soul that was lost" and the third thing I thought "I hope the parents are able to forgive". I have literally felt the love of many wax cold around me especially since the passing of a parent, but with that being said I know as long as I trust in the Lord, He will bring me out of the darkness into His marvelous light; my focus cannot be on the water, but on Him.

A prayer that I've been praying lately is for God to send laborers into the field even before the shooting, because there are many souls that are lost and turned off from hypocrisy. We have been charged to love and the greatest example of this love is found in Jesus; He was called a blasphemer, drunkard, demon and it continues to this day. We cannot expect anything less, there will be a testing of how true our love actually is.

Also, that day I prayed that the children whom remain will be used by God, and I trust they can.

Amen!!! Many times I also see hypocrisy, the anger and bitterness, God set us the example, God has shown us His nature one of Holiness and love and by this, walking in this, BEING His nature, Christlike we will be known as His disciples.

Nobody said God hasnt the authority to execute violent men....not really sure why you brought this up as its not related to the thread? No one is questioning Gods divine judgement here. The thread is about how WE make sure our love doesnt grow cold. Maybe your on the wrong thread?

I have always wanted to see people like god does- good and bad. It goes very deep with his eye's, you no longer even notice if they are good looking or not you only see what is inside them. I have said before even the most hardened criminals can be the most powerful warrior of god, obviously i have yet to obtain these eye's and i have yet to obtain his heart and mind as well But wouldn't it be amazing if we felt like he does and see's and loves and mourns when he does? Like we are totally in synce with our creater, This is one of the many things I want. And I am sure many others want this as well But it appears some of us already have some of it huh twofeet?;D

The getting angry of the shooting deaths is not the falling away. Its the 50+ million aborted deaths
in the USA that hasn't raised an eyebrow, is the falling away. It amazes me that people look at this
guy as some kind of monster, when half the country in the USA is guilty of murdering millions.
Those kids in the school could atleast run and try to get away. That baby in the womb has no where
to run. Just who are the real monsters in the world? If people are just now getting upset, they
might be in that "falling away crowd." You can not have the same mindset as that guy and condemn
him. And half the people in the USA have that very same mindset. Getting angry is not a sin.
And its ok to be angry and upset over the school shooting. But why isn't there that same response to
the 50+million dead? That's the falling away that says it should be legal, that the fetus isn't human.
And since that school shooting, probably 10 times the number have died in abortion clinics.

Innocent members? I'd like to meet one, just one.

We have no right to kill/prevent people from the reward they choose. People don't want to die to the flesh, and that's a big problem.

What bad would come from allowing someone to kill you, or anyone you see as righteous?

Firstly it is a very sad story and my eternal prospective is that all the 20 kids that died that day are in heaven t this very moment, they have seen God,heaven, saints, angles and if you think about it they are a trillion times more happy than they would have been today in school playing with their friends an they are experiencing joy in the most awesome way there could be. :)

The obvious context of 'innocent' is. a civilian context. By innocent I mean one who does not physically take the life of another. It is those murderers of mankind that God has ordained the State to wield the sword (capital punishment).

:)BLESSING TWO FEET. YA KNOW WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE, AND I JUST CAN'T LOSE FOCUS OF IT. IT'S LIKE A TORCH, THAT IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE AND CARRY AND PASS THE FLAME OF IT, FOR EVER. IN MATTHEW 9: 13 OR ABOVE IT A BIT, IS THIS. JESUS OVERHEARD THE TALK ABOUT HIM SITTING WITH TAX COLLECTORS AND SINNERS, THIS IS WHAT HE SAID, IN { MATTHEW 9: 13} GO AND LEARN WHAT THIS MEANS, I DESIRE COMPASSION.} THAT HE CAME FOR THE SICK, WHO NEED A PHYSICIAN. HIS LOVE STILL GOES FORTH, WHO'S GOING TO CARRY IT FORTH.

What about this then?

Luk 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

Killing/preventing anyone from their reward (unless you're running or something) is not acceptable to God, instead we turn the other cheek.

Only good can come from offering up your life, and allowing God to protect you, or going home if it's time.

I also want my heart to beat in time with His, to have compassion as He does on the lost and broken in this world. As I see it, God holds the "blue print " of every human soul because we are fearfully and wonderfully made by Him. And its that "blue print" I try to see. I try not to focus on the damage Satan has caused when loving a person, no matter how badly damaged they are. In Ezekiel 18 it says that God does not delight in the death of the wicked......so neither shall I. Its a very sad thing to me, and also Deborah felt that same sadness. The enemy has claimed one....that is never anything to rejoice over.

I have commented on threads in this forum regarding abortion and my view on it. NO ONE will ever beable to justify murdering a child...as I have just said, we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God....He OWNS life. No matter how bad the circumstances a woman gets pregnant, all healing can be found in Jesus Christ, all answers are in Him and in His death and resurrection.

Getting angry is one thing....but it deepens on where that anger is directed.

Amen! We do need to attempt to see others thru the eyes of Jesus and not as the world sees things. We are never called to hate our enemies.
