A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him.
But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked. - Mark 14:51-52 nasb

There are several possible interpretations. A nice one is that the linen sheet is of the material worn by students. The sheet symbolized his hope for the future that Jesus would bring, that would cover the young man's uncertainties in life. The action is a symbol of many disciples being stripped of their hope, when Jesus was taken (and before they knew He woudl rise, of course).

Many believe it was mark himself. The had the last supper at his or his fathers house. He probably went to be with a linen when he heard the news of Judas. He probably went to warn jesus, when he got there. They tried to sieze him, and to get away, he let them have his linen to get away.

Not sure if I really understand these verses, but it appears at first glance that the person who was following Christ forsook him, and in doing so lost the covering for his nakedness, i.e., his sinfulness and wretchedness.

Mark.14

[40] And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
[41] And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
[42] Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
[43] And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
[44] And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
[45] And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
[46] And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
[47] And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
[48] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
[49] I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

[50] And they all forsook him, and fled.

( the disciples all ran away )

[51] And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:

( maybe Mark. And the temple thugs tried to grab him and capture him )

[52] And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

( in the struggle or running, he lost his cloths and ran like the wind........ That's about all I can glean for this )

The Greek word for this cloth is

sindwn
sindon
sin-done'

of uncertain (perhaps foreign) origin; byssos, i.e. bleached linen (the cloth or a garment of it):--(fine) linen (cloth).

[53] And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
[54] And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
[55] And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

Famous naked people of the bible. Isaiah 2 years. Joseph, Optafers wife. Certain young people. The rich young ruler. Realy no one knows these are the things that one builds faith. And two alows you to dive into the bidle deeper. You do not need answers to all thethings you find in the bible. Else you chase every wind of doctoren. Alow it to pull you into bible so that you can visuly see christ being taken away. And if you find the answer keep it to your self. That is for you. Any thing else would spreed assumeing to others. Other things are right there on the page and need no deep thought. In short it is verses like these that christian debat over and over again and the whole time the satin is burning down the house they debate in. It is to the same degree as to wonder if adom and eve had a belly buton. It should not be glossed over. Yet it should not distract you from the point. Jesus is being halled off

That's a neat way to think of it hmm, but very symbolic for a naked dude.

How would we know for sure it's Mark if many believed? I kinda picked this one out of Mark cuz it's also in Luke and Matthew I think also. But that would make a lot of sense.

No I believe it is just in mark. And the fact mark wrote it would tend to lead us to believe he had first hand knowledge of who did it, maybe even himself.

The rest of the disciples had already left before he got there, so they would not have seen it.

I think the point he was trying to make, is all who followed Jesus (including this man) left him when he was arrested. Thus Christ was left alone.

I also heard John Mark was actually a scribe of Peter when writing this book, but the title was credited to him.

Job 29:14 I put on righteousness as my clothing; justice was my robe and my turban.
Mark 4:17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

The Blood of Jesus makes us righteous, but if we forsake Him we are not covered.
