I have not fellowshipped or assembled with any group since about 1977. Unless Alcoholics Anonymous counts as a "Christian" group. So now that I have sobered up since 4 Aug. 1989 and no longer attend AA meetings since about 2018 and find myself finally accepting Jesus as Savior and reading that we should assemble and fellowship and finding myself in a bit of a quandary as regards purveyors of Bible Truth and puzzle over which group is more likely to teach Bible Truth with least bias I ask who gonna call? Ghost Busters???!!!

I found a ministry that seems to teach chapter by chapter and verse by verse so that you hear God's words instead of man's. Check out shepherdschapel.com or on youtube.

I have been aware of them for a long time and early on was almost taken in by their pseudo-teachings. Their GIMMICK that I fell for was a free CD about their ideas regarding THE MARK OF THE BEAST. Their teaching a lot of stuff that apparently has roots in someone else ideas and they add their own spin. Supposedly the reach they have is worldwide.

Their ideas or the true word of God. Each must make their own decisions what is truth and what isn't.

Okay so here’s a question.
‘Do you want to assemble because the Bible says so or because you feel it?

I assemble with the Lord everyday, through his word and spirit, and in prayer. Because we love the Lord we feel the need to assemble with him and those that love him.

Is your question to Hebrews 10:25 that we not forsake the assembly of ourselves together?

I always feel it should be somewhere local to me rather than a particular denomination or ministry. One reason being that I think a good church has a spiritually positive impact locally. You can always leave if you find things you are not comfortable with. Of course if you know God is calling you further away, follow God.

Thnx for asking Cameron143, I am trying to find a group locally to attend as it seems that is what we should do. I have been in phone contact with an AoG group and also watch them on the internet and I may start attending there. I like the way they pray for guidance of the Holy Spirit. I might put a thread with their web site and ask 'Would you attend this group?'.

If you believe the Bible is the word of God then that would narrow down things to exclude theologically liberal churches.

You want a church that does not water down the Bible and preaches straight from it.

Yea they are rare, but they are not gone.

Key features of a biblically grounded church:

Belief in the Trinity

Baptism by immersion only, for believers only

Autonomy and independence of the local church.

Salvation by grace thru faith in Christ, which can't be undone.

Tithing and Lord's Supper as ordinances.

Belief in the second coming

Emphasis on faith hope and love over all other spiritual gifts.

You may have to google where to find one close to you, but the "primitive baptist," preach straight from the scriptures, quoting many in their sermons. After singing, and preaching, they fellowship everyone individually, between themselves and then serve a meal.

Thnx for the info. This is all new to me so I am going a little slow and have realized that there is a lot of deception with church groups. I grew up Catholic & rule them out so far.

That looks great. Go for it and God will guide you along the way.
They are getting a new Pastor soon and I plan to wait till they select the new pastor.

You bring up a Good Question here : ----you need to make sure the ones your assembling with are actually True Christians and you need to know the Scripture well enough to know when what is spoken is the actual Scripture from God's Word ----and not being twisted or watered down to suit people's agenda -----

You need to assemble with like mined true Christians -----the Minister needs to have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which most Ministers do not have -----there is no protocol for Ministers to be indwelled with the Holy Spirit to be a Minister of a Church -----and that is very sad ---Anyone can become a Minister ---Minister Gretta Vosper is a great example of that -----calls herself a Christian but is of the devil ----a professed Atheist preaching God's word ---crazy

She is still a Minister Preaching in the United Church of Canada who allows a professed atheists to preach in their Church ---Now that is Scary ------she fought to stay and preach in the church and won her case -----shows you Satan is well and active in this world --- she was never a True Christian when ordained -----

You need to be careful who you assemble with and who you listen to ------as Satan is alive in many Churches today ----
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gretta Vosper is an “atheist minister” in the United Church of Canada.
