If it was clear to you that I was suggesting America and Christians were the reasoning behind poverty well then I would have to suggest glasses lol idk I've got nothing else? The post was to inform people who may not know what's going on in the world as i previously stated. The news about the American drones killing children are just the facts sorry if you may have been offended
You haven't understood a single comment I've made...........I will leave you to your thread...........

By "we," if you me literally WE? Well, I can't speak for anyone else here............my home church congregation (average attendance of 35-40) sponsors a Missionary family in Iran..........operate a Food Pantry for the needy, donate monies to the Heart to Honduras Ministry, donate monies to National and State Boards that assist needy congregations/Pastors within our overall church family, and donate monies to needy families in our City/County.

We also assist those members of our congregation who may have needs............and during the April 2011 tornado outbreak here, we worked continuously to assist those in need.

We are as far from being a wealthy church/congregation as one can get, and there is ONLY ONE member of our congregation whose annual income would meet or exceed the 60K limit stated in the OP.

So, WHAT ARE WE doing............? All WE can.......

What ABOUT Y'ALL?

(edited to add)
Yes, I understand that threads which tear down, criticize, create denominational/theological arguments or fusses ARE FAR MORE POPULAR on practically ANY Internet Site............

Will check out your thread............ :)
Glad your congregation is doing this to help out! I really don't see this as bragging because you are just expressing what you do to others but not for the reason of boasting to them. Nevertheless, may your congregation keep up God's work. God Bless

I find many Christians are unaware of many global conflicts, the reasonings, the agendas, lots of things. They know one thing and it is their own perspective. Thank you for posting this thread, I didnt see it as an attack, just as an awareness to the world around us. I think the aim should be more on USA however, I hope that was what was intended. Christians or not we should always help others in need. We should do our homework and see the point of views of both sides and come to a reasonable understanding before letting our patriotism and ego get in the way.

Although I agree with your declaration on where it should begin, please keep in mind there are many instances where our love should be demonstrated to the less fortunate at home.

I know how it is to live in poverty and hunger with wealth all around. One does not fault the wealthy at all, but is made to wonder just exactly where all the love is claimed by those calling themselves faithful.

The thought is rhetorical, for there cannot be a response, not valid anyway because each person has his own manner of acting within the framework of the faith given him from on high, so we are not to judge by appearances either.

I don't agree with charity should start at home I really don't, I think charity should start where it is needed most

ok, with reference to thinking about people at home i'll tell you what happened to me the other day. I have been rather selfish lately complaining about where I am living.

Basically last year me and my husband were living in Australia in the city with rough accommodation and it was particularly scary , the neighbours were under the influence of drugs and they were very violent.

Now back in the UK me and my husband have been travelling the country all year with his job, and I have done nothing but COMPLAIN about how unhappy I am moving around being unsettled. All year we have had very comfortable accommodation in rural areas where it is safe ( a major contrast to the year before)

Yet I complain about how lonely I am following my husband with his work as I can't work because we move every 6 weeks.

So 2 days ago I was in the city centre complaining to my husband and I prayed in my head to get me out of this state and instantly this homeless man came up to me, I was shocked and didn't know how to react as he asked for £2.50 for one nights accommodation in a homeless shelter ...I looked in my purse to find an array of £20 notes and one five pound note.

What did I do? I gave him the £5 ( yeah exactly not very good)

This is what I should have done

I should have said. Hey I don't have change, but you must be hungry, lets go to a store and you can choose whatever you want, then after buying him food I give him at least a £20 anyway. I should have spoken to him and heard his story and show interest and be christian.

Needless to say that mere £5 was the world to him and he hopped skipped and jumped away in delight knowing he had 2 nights shelter. So there's me complaining about my luxurious accommodation in a rural area ( yes lonely but) this guy has to sleep on the streets, he lived for the day grateful knowing he had 2 nights accommodation and probably thought, I'll worry about the accommodation in 2 days.

So thank you God for slapping me in the face that day and making me realise how selfish I was !

I wish I did more though :( if you read this, please pray for me to forgive myself as i'm terrible at bearing grudges on myself lol .......

Over the years we have raised literally Billions of Pounds here in the UK to send over to third world countries. They keep telling us that for a few pennies a day we can save a life, but how come the situation is exactly the same as it was 30 years ago even after we've sent over all this money. Why are people in these awful predicaments still having children? It's not food we should be sending over, they need Sex Education and contraception instead.
