Jesus said that He and the Father were one. He was claiming to be God. He also said, "before Abraham was, I AM." You can't get much clearer than that. God called Himself, I AM to Moses at the burning bush. So Jesus claimed to be Yahweh.
Paul said in Acts, "Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood."
Hebrews 1:8
But of the Son He says,“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.

Well sisterclaudette, if Jesus Christ ran around the landscape and said the words to the Jews, "I am God" would you believe Him? In fact, if you would open your eyes the Jews crucified Him for claiming Him claiming He was the Son of God. Just read Matthew 26:63 where the high priest Caiaphas said, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether your are the Christ/Messiah, THE SON OF GOD." The high priest is asking Jesus to "swear" to God as to who He is.
When Jesus said at Luke 22:70, "Yes, I am" look what the high priest does at Matthew 26:65, "Then the high priest tore his robes saying, He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy." So sisterclaudette since you have read the Bible so many times can you please tell what was the blasphemy?
