Forming to the image of the beast is a dead spirit. Carnal man's perception.

I think God still calls the beast nation/system .."Babylon".
"How is Babylon become a desolation among the nations! "

The "nations" is a phrase for "Gentiles." Doesn't the beast system include all Gentiles? Hm? From that, you obviously can tell that it's single isolated entity which has a land somewhere.

No, Babylon rides upon the beast nation/system:

Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
@pittsburghjoe
Above is a good point. In 17, moreover, the angel said the beast and the 10 kings hate the prostitute (Babylon).

What do you think "carry" means? Could it be what powers the beast nation/system?

It means they are two different things. The beast is an empire consisting of ten smaller kingdoms within 7 areas of land...military and governmental authority. The woman is a false religion and those who are belong to it...religious authority.

No, Babylon will worship a false God, the Antichrist, so it's a new religion though the antichrist may claim to be Christ so it might mimic Christianity to a certain point.
I don't see the beast hating a false religion

I can't tell you because I don't have the whole picture. However, my view atm is the whore and the beast are not friends-friends, and the woman (Jerusalem) is going where it goes. (I'm not sure if the woman is leading it or the beast.)

If there is a religious Babylon ..it would probably be Catholics. Not sure.

I don't think I've seen a definite answer to what it will worship, but since the beast carries it, their religions could very well be the same until the beast hates her.

We might be able to glean some info on that from history. The year 70 A.D. had an event where the Jews revolted against the Romans due to heavy taxation, and it led to the temple and city destructions. And the Roman soldiers apparently then brought sacrifices including a pig and worshipped their gods there. This was, as everybody knows, after the Babylonian Exile. If there is a parallel with this event, it could be that Jerusalem representing Babylon is because believers (perhaps Israelis and Gentiles alike) are given a high position in Babylon (US) just like ancient Jews were well treated during their exile, and afterwards, just as Babylon was defeated by Darius of Media and Cyrus of Persia, they (again US) will be destroyed by her enemies, and the believers (people of Zion) dwelling in Babylon will have heard from prophets that Babylon will be taken, but since they won't believe it, they will instead kill the prophets warning to flee out of Babylon (again US).

Jer 4:5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem, and say: 'Blow ye the horn in the land'; cry aloud and say: 'Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.'
Jer 4:6 Set up a standard toward Zion; put yourselves under covert, stay not; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction
