why argue with an athiest whos purpose is to instigate christians? and create some kind of doubt about things he doesnt believe to begin with?

read the intro to the post "why do christians" and then " youre obviously not free..."

Why?

Because we are Christ to the world. And we don't always know if the inquirer is truly seeking for answers or not.

And even if he's just playing with us, the Lord can still speak to his heart through us as we show Him God's love by loving him with the only love that is truly love.

All you have to do is understand people to bring out their beauty.

Thank you for lying to me for 18+ years, I'm going to go and enjoy some porn.

Ban me if you wish.

If you've already made the choice why are you here complaining to us? If we're all a bunch of liars why would you come to us for answers? Eat,drink and be merry. Just be sure you made the right choice, because if you're wrong you lose everything.

And yet, your deal is to bring out you for all to glory in. What's that say about how well you understand anything?

I play on-line scrabble with a guy. Started about 2 years ago via someone I play with as well said to him play with Bill.

The opportunity arose for me to tell him I was a question.

Turned out he was an atheist. Many a conversation has been had. If I could stick the gospel where suggested I stick it my eyes would be watering.

Anyway now he is an agnostic and actually now asks for prayer, in fact many a time I have prayed with him over the phone and he has been in tears.

In fact last year when I was struggling with eye issues he actually sent me a prayer over the game. I kept it as a picture, shame I can't upload it to show you.

Anyway as you say we don't know what's going on.

atheist to agnostic to ??, we just have to be faithful to those God had bought into our lives.

The freedom Jesus Christ spoke of is a "freedom from sin."

The Pharisees could not perceive that they were enslaved...

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Jesus clarified their slavery in the context of "committing sin."

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Jesus then claimed that it is the Son whom can set them free from committing sin indeed...

Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

We see this reflected in the words of Paul...

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Paul then states that "freedom from sin" is wrought through "obedience from the heart."

Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

This is why Paul taught that the Gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ was made known to all the nations for obedience of the faith.

Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
Rom 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Jesus is basically inviting all people into union with God through the Spirit of His life. This union is true freedom indeed because all our works become alive through the Spirit, thus we are no longer slaves to sin, nor are we in bondage to the law, for our hearts have been purified and we simply walk by a faith that works by love in the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ.

It is a beautiful thing and it is true freedom.

You should read Romans 6 carefully to understand what God's view of sin is.

Romans 7 talks of Paul
- once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, he died (i.e. as a child he was free from the law, but once his conscience became aware of the transgression (for example as a 13 year old, or any age of accountability according to God, it slay him that very moment). It is that same conscience that caused Adam and Eve to hide from God in the Garden of Eden.
- Paul was a devout Pharisee. He had a love for God and the Law. Yet in his zeal he found that he could not uphold the law. Because he in his mind knew that the law was good but he found that the power residing within his flesh overcame him and he was not able to uphold the law. All the good he wanted to do he couldn't, and all the bad he wanted to avoid he couldn't.
-Paul calls out in desperation ---- who can save me from this body of death? (This is Paul's REPENTANT mindset). If Paul was happy in his sin, then this is NOT a REPENTANT MINDSET. Paul had a repentant mindset (knowing the law was good, and wanting to uphold the law) --- who can save me from this body of Death?
- The solution: Thanks be to JESUS CHRIST (HE IS THE SOLUTION)

Romans 8: Now we are able to live godly lives through the Spirit. Because of Jesus, and what He did on the cross.

Why do Christians claim they are free, but accept they are slaves to Christ? Are not those two concepts contradictory in nature.
When I think back to those believing days, I can't say I was actually free while following Jesus. I mean If I am letting my feelings, thinking and actions be effected by someone else's feelings, thinking and actions, I can't say I am free.

Because freedom would be to feel, think and act as a separate unit.

But I digress

Why do you think you are free, when you have to follow certain stipulations, apply and conform yourselves to a rule book?

You're obviously not free from sin, or sickness, or satan, or death.

So my question is, what actually are you free from?

We are free from the law of sin and death (if man sins man dies). Jesus said in order to rob a strong man's house, you must first tie him up. Jesus was like Robin Hood- stealing back from Satan that which once belonged to God (us). He freed us from satans prison.

I dont know if you watched Shinler's List, but during the holocaust he saved many by having them work for him. In the same way, we serve God because He saved us. We only have this lifetime to work, to show God that we love Him too.

We are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness. If you choose righteousness, you may work now, but in heaven you will be free of every hardship.
