You also have the gift of help. Probably don't want it most of the time, but got it anyway. ;)

I have the gift/calling or what have you of teaching children. I revisited a church last Sunday and had dinner with the pastor and he asked me to be a Sunday school teacher because he knew how much God used me to bless them when I did it before, it was a touching moment....but yes some are called to be teachers:)

The gift of helps teaches us to give without expecting back. And as for the holy spirit opening doors and eyes and ears wow...what my wife and I have gleen from it is more than one could every pay.
From making meals for the disabled to the new moms that need a rest, fixing up a house to driving someone to their appointment, to be a little part of someone's life in helping is truly a blessing. To sit with the saints and share , learn, having opportunity to bring the gospel to those in need. We made some wonderful friends and still do.

Thank you. It just began with an anecdote about how I responded to a group of people I knew (not here) boasting about their spiritual gifts. But almost everything turns into a debate, it seems.

Kind of tired of the three gifts always debated on here are tongues, prophecy, or healing. How about the other gifts? How about the gift of helping? How about administrative?

Anyone want to debate that one to death too?

1 Corinthians 12:28English Standard Version (ESV)

28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.
When people sit around boasting about their gifts, and then turn to me and ask me what my gifts are, I say, "I don't have any gifts."
res,
what you just said, I can't make hide nor hair out of it...I must have missed your point...

first, when you are called,.,.we can be appointed to be whatever Jesus needs us to be at this time,
there's lots for Him to choose from, but we're put where He wants us,,, after we totally surrender
our own will over to Him, God The Father, Jesus Christ, He becomes our Master/Leader,
we His followers and doers and ETC,.,. yes, it is definitely a choice, but it is one that we both
cannot imagine even comtemplating...
It's not healthy for people to sit around boasting about their gifts. Rather than joining them, I chose to simply to say, "I have no gifts," when asked what my gifts were. I sing in my church choir, but singing isn't one of the gifts Paul mentions, is it?
Edify! It really really means something. And it is done through our gifts not boasting about them. And yet you still insist on not knowing how God gifted you? Kind of like not opening your Christmas gifts but complaining when others open theirs that you got none.

Seriously, dude. God gave you a gift. He probably gave you more than one. Open it up and find out what it is. I can guarantee it's a good'n and seriously needed for your church and on here!

I got help, administrative, and encourage. Does this really sound like a boast? Most people don't even know what the first two are, and don't believe me on the third. ROFL
It's unhealthy to boast about our gifts.
Thank you. It just began with an anecdote about how I responded to a group of people I knew (not here) boasting about their spiritual gifts. But almost everything turns into a debate, it seems.
You might want to start figuring out what the OP was saying before you jump in. And, honestly? When you jumped in, all you did was point to yourself on how much better you are because, not only don't you boast, you put down others for asking. Then when it was time to talk about the other gifts, your invention was "it's unhealthy." Since when does God give us something unhealthy? What's the use of having a gift, if no one knows you have it when they need it?

So, really. You don't contribute and boast about that.

Flying spiders. Let me explain. My family got together to rake leaves in the yard when I was a kid. Each year, we'd get out our red wagon, rake leaves all around it, and then dump the leaves in front of the spot they'd go before winter -- in front of some hew bushes. And we had an understanding. Once they were all dumped there, the kids got the rest of the duty after we had our fill of jumping into the leaves, making forts out of them, leave fights, etc. Just genuinely enjoying a big pile of leaves as kids before raking them under the hews where they'd compost to give the hews much needed insulation for the winter followed by more nutrition for the following summer.

I'm a girl. Always have been, so spiders are icky and frightening. I saw spiders flying between the handle of the red wagon and... well no where. Nothing close enough to believe there was a web they were crawling along, so they looked like they were flying. I freaked and shouted, "Flying spiders."

Mom thought I was trying to get out of the work, so she sent me to my room, and I didn't get to jump in the leaves. So, now, my family just shouts "flying spiders" whenever they think someone is trying to get out of any effort.

And frankly, your big claim that you aren't gifted at all strikes me that it's just you trying to get out of any work.

I AM the OP. Reread the first post again. (And I copy-pasted it onto this response knowing full well, if I didn't, you would come back with either "What OP?" or "I don't get it" and leave it at that, because that is your MO. You try very hard to place your unbiblical opinion in the easiest way possible and then flit away feeling better about yourself for the lack of effort.) This IS BDF where people debate scripture. BUT you are above it all, so what are you doing on this thread since you are supposedly above it all?
