This is something that takes spiritual understanding to understand. Spiritual understanding comes after we accept Christ and we are born again.

The Lord created the earth and man in His image, so many physical things has a spiritual side. Another way of looking at this is to look at symbolism in the bible. Our physical mind can better understand spiritual things through our understanding of the spiritual.

We understand that the food we eat feeds our bodies, our body needs it. God explains the spiritual words of scripture as feeding our spirit in the same way. God uses this for our understanding. God gives us the Holy Spirit so that we can understand spiritual things. When we understand spiritually, we know God is spirit and has no need for physical food. We can also understand the spiritual meaning of scripture that talks of physical things.

John_S is right, God is spirit and has no need for food or drink. While Jesus was here on earth as Human/God, He did eat. I think:confused:
Of course Jesus needed to eat while he lived on earth as a human, but when he ascended into Heaven, he didn't stop being God/man. So Jesus remains God/man to this day and forever more.

Does Jesus eat in Heaven ?
I suspect we all do, for enjoyment and for the glory of God (not because it would be necessary to live - it wouldn't at that stage).

Sorry, that should be "I suspect we all will", not "do".

No God does not need to eat. He is Holy and that means that He is whole and needs nothing outside of Himself. Jesus did eat with the disciples after His resurrection. But I believe that is done out of fellowship and since all things created here from Him I see no reason that He cannot consume them. Oh and the trees by the river that flows from the throne are for those that did not make the rapture and lived through the trib in these flesh bodies and leaves are used for medicine and the fruit for meat, because during the reign of Jesus the lion shall lay down with the and they shall beat there swords into plows. There will be know killing and therefore no meats.

Food and fellowship were the manner in which Abraham communed with God (in this instance).

Yes, if we try to be too spiritual with everything and only say the spiritual things matter, we risk believing Gnostic ideals (eg. anything physical is sinful and evil). Those Gnostics were a crazy, non-biblical bunch.

Saints (all followers of Christ) receive eternal life when Jesus returns a second time.

Jesus christ is God the Son! Creator of all things, under the direction of heavenly Father. In the new testament, after His resurrection, He came to His apostles. They thought He was a spirit! He told them to "touch Him, a spirit doesn't have flesh and bone as I have". They still must have had doubt; then He ate, to show them He had a body. Not long after, he ascended into heaven (with his body) He didn't lay his body down again! He was to only die one death! So as you should see, he can and does eat. Jesus is the express image of His Father!
