I don't know how many people have heard of Justin Hines. Until my trip to South Africa, I have to say I did not know the name. I did not know his music. I did not know anything about him except his fruit and love by the people he had touched. He with a group of four other individuals organized the renovation of 10 different schools last year. Helping to install working plumbing systems so that the toilets could actually flush.

Something most people seating at their computers screens right now would take for granted. So I learned of his love first and then heard his music and then saw what most people would comment on upon first meeting. I wonder if you notice?

If you truly understand these verses:

1 Corinthians 1:26-28
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.

I went to South Africa to teach and learnt far more from the children than I taught them.

I leave you with a song. May God bless and keep you.

Isn't that always the way?:)

If my children had ever learned as much from me as they have taught me, they'd be making Einstein look like a newborn kitten.

I always learned more about life and about the Lord from the children to whom I taught Sunday School than I taught them, too.
How quickly they said I'm sorry...
How easily they forgave one another...(and forgot the offense)
How sincerely they believed the Word...
And how gratefully they received it...
How pure their faith was--- :)

Many times ,too, the young ones here at CC startle me with the beauty of their faith. :)
Shining examples to me, all of them.

Ariel, the video you posted with those gorgeous children all dressed up,
in 'wedding clothes' (how stunningly appropriate!)
singing (in another thread) brought tears to my eyes.

I can't imagine how the Lord must feel, looking at their hearts. ♥

The innocence of a child is having a conscience that has not been clogged up with all kinds of norms and standards of corruption and mischief. But it is quite another thing for a man to have his conscience purged from these things and be free from them because of the blood of Christ. We love the innocence of a child and always want to preserve that innocence for as long as possible. But innocence will pass and the conscience will take on the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life and then the Lord will have to purge the conscience with His blood. Children will always go astray from their youth and that is why we are to instruct and lead them in the way they should go and if they depart they will return as a promise from God (Prov 22:6). Parents we have that promise of hope, so get them while they are young before they become set in their own ways. Sunday school for children is always a good program to have in the local church, ALWAYS.

No disagreement with me on this Red. I've never had to wonder why Christ said "suffer not the little children to come to me for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these" :)

(need to upload more when I get a chance)

It was great to see how the parents got into it and were no afraid to talk about God in school and give praise to Jesus for allow their kids the education and the opportunities to rise above the poverty and ignorance around them. I hope and pray I can maintain the connections I made there and visit again in a few years with a group of volunteers to minister and help them achieve their dreams. I believe their trust in God and His love will help heal the wounds of aparthied and allow people of all ethnicity overcome the stereotypes and anger surround the injustices of the past. I just hope God shows me how I in my limited capacity can be an ambassador for Him and that He give me the wisdom and courage to do whatever lies in the future.

I would really love to take a group of students over with their chaperons to do some cultural awareness activities, community service, with a culminating visit to Almakala game park to see the elephants, zebras, giraffe, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, etc.

Want to go back to South Africa with me in a few years?

they have a preschool at the combined Christian South African ministries that would love a few new Sunday school lessons :)

ok now to write three more papers...sigh

Our mind speaks, but it is our heart that should be the first to act. The Lord leads. :)

Yes, unless one becomes as a child, they can not enter the kingdom of God.

To me that speaks of one word: : love.

And, little kids love EVERYONE.

I always thought that being lik a child was all about their innocence.
Then one day, while thinking about how scripture speaks to our being born unto Jesus, His Spirit.
I saw that its all about trusting the parent and the teacher.
Just as when we were born into the world we had to learn how to do everthing, from simply walking and talking to running and knowing how to live.
We are born unto Jesus, His Spirit, and must learn from Him, everything one needs to know to live in Spirit, and trust in God Our Father for everything needed, from provision and protection, to His love.

:)I do believe Ive finally made it to the crawling stage, and now learning to walk :)

God bless

I actually still have some of my old lesson plans from the many years I taught Sunday School. :)
(I had to be told to get up to the service from time to time...I was having a little too much fun with the little ones, especially as our children got older :) )

ABeka Book, a homeschool curriculum provider, used to sell these beautiful, large illustrations that came with the paperwork for telling the Bible story they pictured.
The most fun was having the kiddos act it out after they had learned it.
Hilarity ensued, and often tears as I saw the Lord working in their hearts. ♥
