It's true, you can. Modern women seem to need more than words, though.

'You think I need to change? Well you're an idiot and I don't agree with you'.

How do you correct someone who shrugs off words?
You find someone who you can refrain from hitting.
If you don't like that they shrug off your words find someone who doesn't.
Hitting your wife need not be apart of a relationship....
Are you married?...

2 days ago, I was at my g.fs house, her hubby was yelling at her telling her to shut up etc, and I felt so uncomfortable. It was just reminding me what I have walked away from in my life.
If her hubby is a believer, unless he repents, he will be in for a rude awakening when he comes face to face with our Lord Jesus Christ for mistreating His sister. On that note, he needs the Lord helps to repent and not just asking Him for forgiveness. Pray for him, but scripture do give guidelines for verbally abusive husbands & other things to be a witness in the world and not just within the family home.

1 Peter 3:1Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;[SUP] 2 [/SUP]While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;[SUP] 4 [/SUP]But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

I believe when it comes to men and woman, there are times to be silent, but in the ministry, I believe woman can be teachers, councilors etc. But not pastors.
Outside the assembly and the church, I would agree. I believe this area of ministry is seriously lacking in these latter days whereas women should be seeking to fulfill their roles outside the church in bringing people in as well as teaching Bible studies from their homes or other public places where believers can gather together and by doing so, draw more in.

That's just what I believe. I'm not going to force my beliefs on anyone, I'm old school. And men being the head of the house, God would not have put that in his Word, just to take it back. Men are not Superior to woman. It's a beautiful thing for men to be a protector, but because of how our world is, it's hard to comprehend that what God wants, is beautiful. Humans have corrupted everything that is good for evil.
It is unfortunate that some men will take a verse out of context or apply it wrong as a power trip and an ego trip for abuse, but they are supposed to be submissive to Christ in all things just as the women are to be, just as they are to love their wives as Christ loves the church in giving up His life for her.

Ephesians 5:[SUP]25 [/SUP]Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;[SUP] 26 [/SUP]That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,[SUP] 27 [/SUP]That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.[SUP] 28 [/SUP]So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.[SUP] 29 [/SUP]For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:[SUP] 30 [/SUP]For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.[SUP] 31 [/SUP]For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.[SUP] 32 [/SUP]This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.[SUP]33 [/SUP]Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

In all respect to God's commandment for women NOT to teach in the assembly or church, the flip side of the coin is that God is commanding men to teach and be engaging in the ministry in the assembly and in church.

It is amazing how I have heard women complaining about men taking the back seat towards everything extra curricular in church like youth group and stuff like that and yet some of the men find time for freemasonry wherein the initiation oath denies them of being in the Light as in being in Him every time they take it. They make excuses for it that they do not really treat it as an oath even though they are swearing on the Bible in doing it, and God says He takes it seriously in His words as He hates false swearers. Talk about misplaced priorities.

Leviticus 19:[SUP]12 [/SUP]And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

Malachi 3:5And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.

James 5:[SUP]12 [/SUP]But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Matthew 5:[SUP]33 [/SUP]Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:[SUP]34 [/SUP]But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:[SUP] 35 [/SUP]Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.[SUP] 36 [/SUP]Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.[SUP]37 [/SUP]But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Men have no business identifying themselves with freemasonry when it is ecumenical by embracing all religions as of God.

God commands them to be involved in church and in ministering and in fellowship and be more engaging in the Word of God that they should not have any time for that organization of the world which denies Him.... but yet they do.

They can create a men's fellowship without all that swearing in christianity apart from freemasonry, but they haven't yet.

Sorry state of the church in these latter days where culture dictates the norm and not the Word of God.

Hitting someone and making them scared to even say anything to you out of fear they say something wrong is not right.
You are not trying to follow scripture you are trying to hit a wife into the mold of a woman that you want....

Who is those that are called enemy? Are they not the ones that are disobedient, hurt us, or anger us?
Good observation. Do you think this is why God tells us to love them? Forgiving people is a commandment. Sometimes people carry on doing what they do and need correction.

Hi, Desertsrose

Regarding loving chastisement, and your disagreement with the seriousness of sin, I simply ask you to consider this chapter

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers+16&version=KJV

Disobedience was met with horrible punishments. If you asked which I would prefer, a few bruises on my legs or the horrific end to these people, I'd honestly take the bruises.

Please note that all of these people were Israelites.

They weren't the bride. They are part of the chosen nation only. Not the bride!!! They had no faith. They were a nonbeliever.

What church did you grow up in? Is this how they treated you? Were you beaten as a child. Did you have a bad marriage?

I agree with you, God is love, kind and gentle and patient.

But when God does get angry at His people, He corrects them using unbearable punishments.

People even during Lord Jesus' time were living biblical lives, correcting children and disobedient wives.

The thought of hitting a child seems absurd these days, because it is the world view.

God's scripture says it's better to beat a child to correct them and drive the foolishness out of them so that they don't grow up and bring shame and calamity on their family and people. That's the point, people would rather choose bruises than death if they had knowledge of the 2 options.

Nobody is advocating abuse, it seems people are misinterpreting beating to mean being cruel and abusive.

Here's a different example, would you feed someone close to you lots of food until they weigh 600lbs and get stuck in a bed? Feeding them more unhealthy food is abusive. Sure, it feels good and looks supportive when they cry and beg you for more donuts and KFC, but it's harmful.

Is a person who starves them for a month until they are light enough to stand up and visit a doctor a cruel and abusive monster?

Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
You're not even in the same ballpark.

Please don't fit all women of today in that category, it is not correct. I am living proof, and my husband would disagree with your statement. He does not even have to raise his voice at me

The problem with this is that the wife is now scared to even speak up...
She's living under a roof with a dictator. Whatever he says goes, and if she dare disobey she will be getting a mark on her face or her bottom.
Relationships aren't just one sided..... a wife can not live like that.... she has needs to, and what ends up happening is those needs are ignored because "the Bible says wives are supposed to submit to their husbands"

And yes, they are. But that doesn't mean they submit so much that they become their husbands little doll that he can shape because he doesn't like that she does this certain thing...

'You think I need to change? Well you're an idiot and I don't agree with you'.

How do you correct someone who shrugs off words?
Look at the women in how they are to win their husbands over when they are not obeying the word. Then read on as it is to be the same for the men against abusive wives.

1 Peter 3:1Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;[SUP]2 [/SUP]While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.[SUP] 3 [/SUP]Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;[SUP] 4 [/SUP]But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.[SUP]7 [/SUP]Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Reads to me giving honor unto the wife as unto a weaker vessel would mean no hitting.

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: [SUP]11 [/SUP]Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. [SUP]13 [/SUP]And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? [SUP]14 [/SUP]But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; [SUP]15 [/SUP]But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: [SUP]16 [/SUP]Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

If you consider our exhortation in how to deal with a mean and disrespectful boss...

1 Peter 2:[SUP]18 [/SUP]Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 19For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. [SUP]21 [/SUP]For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: [SUP]22 [/SUP]Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: [SUP]23 [/SUP]Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: [SUP]24 [/SUP]Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. [SUP]25 [/SUP]For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Jesus has set the example for both spouse when dealing with a believing but abusive or disrespectful spouse.

When it is a unbelieving spouse, NOT counting the one that stops believing in Him for that would be considered a former believer, but a spouse that never had believed in Him, there is liberty when a unbelieving spouse depart as Paul spoke.

1 Corinthians 7:[SUP]10 [/SUP]And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: [SUP]1 [/SUP]But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. [SUP]2 [/SUP]But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. [SUP]15 [/SUP]But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. [SUP]16 [/SUP]For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? [SUP]17 [/SUP]But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

Good post. We are definitely to be patient and loving. We have to remember that these women in scripture were biblical and not modern day career superwomen femininsts who don't need no man but love alimony. Concerning "giving honor" I take this to mean looking out for, to guide and care for. I don't believe the women of the bible were anything like the women here.

I believe forgiveness is because, God sees everything, as we do not. Plus, we all make mistakes. I once was angry with my son, because he did not help out for buying food for the household. I later found out he helped someone in greater need, so I felt Jesus led him in compassion. Yes, there are those that continue..but where is our endurance? Knowing God said we will see these things in our lives.

When being Christian becomes against the law, you'll understand. When someone turns you over to the authorities for doing something illegal, maybe you'll think back to this moment.

I already said in this thread it is illegal to live a godly biblical life. To beat the nonsense from children like in the bible, to have God-fearing and obedient wives who you can correct. To teach children truth and wholesomeness at home. It's all illegal. Rejoice. Go feminism! :)

I am really astonished to what lengths Enow will go to to discredit a manifestation of the Spirit.

In the beginning, God created woman and man and he gave THEM dominion. Eve was Adam's help meet . . . They would have worked in the garden hand in hand - each making the other better. A perfect union, a perfect marriage. When Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil - things changed and man became head over woman. This did NOT mean that Adam beat Eve into submission . . . Eve lovingly put herself into Adam's care.

In the OT, which strictly excluded women from public ministry in the Tabernacle and Temple, acknowledged that women could prophesy or lead if they had the spirit of God upon them. Mirian, Moses' sister - Then Miriam, the prophet, Aaron's sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. Exodus 15:20
Deborah was one of the Judges of Israel - (Judges 4 and 5) Now Deborah, a prophet, was leading Israel at that time.
Hilkiah and those the king had sent with him went to speak to the prophet Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the New Quarter. She said to them, This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: . . . (2 Chronicles 34:22,23a)
There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher . . (Luke 2:36-38)
In Acts on the day of Pentecost - the prophecy from Joel - I will pour out my Spirit on all people, Your sons and daughters will prophesy . . . Even on my servants, both men and women . . . Includes women doesn't it?
Acts 21:9 - Philip the evangelist, had four unmarried daughters who prophesied. In 1 Cor. 11:5 - every woman who prays or prophesies needs to have her head covered . . . Ask yourself with the evidence of women prophesying - why, all of a sudden, are women being told to keep silent? Ask yourself Why is God contradicting himself now?

The above alone should make you question the insertion of 1 Cor. 14:34,35. Many scholars have commentaries regarding this section of scripture being inserted . . . Alan F. Johnson, PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary, (The IVP New Testament Commentary Series; 1 Corinthians (interVarsity Press, Downers Grove, IL< 2004) p. 271 Simon Kistemaker, 1 Corinthians (Baker Academic, Grand Rapids, MI, 19913), p. 511; Richard Horsley, The Abingdon New Testatment Commentaries (Abingdon Press, Nashville, TN. 1998), p 188; Anthony Thiselton, Professor of Theology, The New International Greek Testament Commentary: The Epistle to the First Corinthians (William B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., Grand Rapides, MI 2000), p. 1150

Could you please edit your post to include scripture?
1 Timothy 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. (NASB)
