What kind of work will you get rest from? All your life before you came to Jesus ,you were a worker of iniquity , burdened down in your spirit with all your sins. He will unload those sins in your spirit, make you a new creature and you have rest from all your sins. Your work is done when you come to him. I hope you understand this.
i get rest not from any work i do at all, but from a single, perfect work that the Messiah did.

He says that if He sets you free, you are
free indeed

there seems to be 'another kind of freedom' that isn't really freedom at all. i don't need the counterfeit: it doesn't come from Him

Now Now Endo,

You replied to a post and completely ignored it's context. You made the following comment:

"He came not to break the Law"? Completely changes the meaning of the scripture, so I called you out on it. How is that "hate"?

I was giving examples of Faith, "Like 300 men winning a war against thousands."

And you post some history lesson, seemingly down playing the Bibles account, ending with this;

I can only go by your words.
Quibbling!!
Break and abolish are synonyms in this usage. Try again.

You asserted the 300 as a faith example. In fact 7000 Greek warriors were sent including 300 Spartans. At that point in history the Spartans were the best and fiercest warriors in the world. They were able to defend the pass easily at the narrow point and with a short wall to help. Some Greek warriors were sent up the mountain to defend their rear. The rest were not needed and sent home. The ones defending the rear of the Spartans stood aside and betrayed the Spartans. This to their disgrace later.

what about this tho:
For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works,
as God did from His.

(Hebrews 4:10)

that's not '
future tense' it's aorist, indicating action that has already taken place
That is a good point and we can't single out the verse I quote or the one you quoted if we are being honest right? Thank is how I think, so all verses concerning this must be taken into consideration.

What is the rest in context? and how could they already ener the rest when Rev 14 says it is only after physical death (in eternal life)?

On the surface we have a contradiction but I dont think there is...

Look at the very next verse after Heb 4:10..

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Hebrews 4:11, "Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience."

Still future?

the writer of Hebrews is in chapter 4 using enterance into physical Israyl as comparing to the Kingdom and the 7th day Sabbath as comparing to the 1,000 yr reign of the Messiah...

I can post my view of the entire breakdown of Hebrews 4 if you would like to have a serious conversation, I am about to log off in a few minutes but will be back on later, let me know if you want to speak on this matter?

Stupid 5 minute rule. Too short especially with the things I always have to fix. Double words, white space, mis corrected words with the SwiftKey keyboard predicting line mis stated. I catch most before posting but several are missed. I only have this problem on this site. Needs to be fixed or a much longer editing time be given.

Here is a brief snippet, Hebrews 3 shows context, we must go back and look at the verses the writer of Hebrew quotes from the "OT" and look to all the Scripture that explain the principles he builds upon...

a more full study is here:

and even more could be added to this fuller study...

The 7[SUP]th[/SUP] day Sabbath represents “Sabbath millennium” or “the 7[SUP]th[/SUP] day”;

Psalm 90:4, “For a thousand years in Your eyes Are like yesterday that has past, Or like a watch in the night.”

2 Peter 3:8, “But, beloved ones, let not this one matter be hidden from you: that with יהוה one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

If you add up the genealogies in the Scripture, from Adam to Yahshua it is about 4,000 years. We know Yahshua came about 2,000 years ago. This shows we are around the year 6,000 nearing the “Sabbath millennium.” This would mean that the Messiah would come in the “4[SUP]th[/SUP] day” using the a day for 1,000 year principle in 2 Peter 3:8 and Psalm 90:4. If we look to the week of creation, the sun was created in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] day;

Genesis 1:14-19, “And the Mighty One said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years, and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth. And it came to be so. And the Mighty One made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars. And the Mighty One set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And the Mighty One saw that it was good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fourth day.”

The prophet Malachi spoke of Messiah as the “Sun of Righteousness” that would “arise with healing in His wings;

Malachi 4:2, “But to you who fear My Name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings. And you shall go out and leap for joy like calves from the stall.”

If we look at the fact the literal sun was created in the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] day in context of Malachi’s prophecy this was a foreshadowing of the coming Messiah, that would come around the year 4,000, that we see did “arise with healing in His wings.

Matthew 9:20-22, “And see, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the tzitzit of His garment. For she said to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I shall be healed.” But יהושע turned, and when He saw her He said, “Take courage, daughter, your belief has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that hour.”

Matthew 14:35-36, “And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding country, and brought to Him all who were sick, and begged Him to let them only touch the tzitzit of His garment. And as many as touched it were completely healed.”

It has been around 2,000 years since Yahshua came, thus;

Hosheyah 6:1-3, “Come, and let us turn back to יהוה. For He has torn but He does heal us, He has stricken but He binds us up. After two days He shall revive us, on the third day He shall raise us up, so that we live before Him. So let us know, let us pursue to know יהוה. His going forth is as certain as the morning. And He comes to us like the rain, like the latter rain watering the earth.”

Again Yahshua came 2,000 years ago that is why Hosheyah 6:1-3 says, “...After two days He shall revive us...

Mat:29-31, “Immediately, but after the tribulation of those days will the sun be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His malakim with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of earth to the other.”

Revelation 20:4-6, "And I saw thrones – and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them – and the lives of those who had been beheaded because of the witness they bore to יהושע and because of the Word of the Mighty One, and who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not receive his mark upon their foreheads or upon their hands. And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years and the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended) – this is the first resurrection. Blessed and set-apart is the one having part in the first resurrection. The second death possesses no authority over these, but they shall be priests of YHWH and of Messiah, and shall reign with Him a thousand years."

So the first 4,000 years was Adam to Yahshua, 2,000 years later Yahshua returns and reigns for 1,000 years, at the end of the 1,000 years the eternal Kingdom of YHWH is established forever.

Hosheyah 6:1-3, “on the third day He shall raise us up

During ths 1,000 years satan is bound and peace, the teachings and the guidance of YHWH fills the land;

Isaiah 11:1-9, "And a Rod shall come forth from the stump of Yishai, and a Sprout from his roots shall be fruitful. The Spirit of יהוה shall rest upon Him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of יהוה, and shall make Him breathe in the fear of יהוה. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears. But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and shall decide with straightness for the meek ones of the earth, and shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and slay the wrong with the breath of His lips. And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and trustworthiness the girdle of His waist. And a wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and a leopard lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child leads them. And cow and bear shall feed, their young ones lie down together, and a lion eat straw like an ox. And the nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the adder’s den. They do no evil nor destroy in all My set-apart mountain, for the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of יהוה as the waters cover the sea."

No exegesis of Hebrews - just a mishmash of texts from all over in a vain attempt to justify a false imposition of meaning..

I asked you where the WRITER OF HEBREWS makes the connection that you claim...
Yet again, you are incapable of doing this...

Jesus made it plain the law is still in force. If we say we sin we are acknowledging the law is in force. What Jesus did was to pay the penalty for our transgressions of the law. If we accept him as our savior he removes our sins from us and takes them on himself. Thus being our Unblemished Lamb of God!! Those who don't accept His sacrifice will stand at judgement under the law. Woe are they!
That is as maybe, but we were talking about the law that is still in force, how we keep it, and how it affects us.

Jesus taught that we are to be a light to the world and if we are not, then we are like salt that has lost its savour and is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

We do not want to be discarded by the LORD like salt that is no longer fit for purpose. Rather we should seek to show the beauty of the LORD reflected in us and shining through us. It is not sufficient that we refrain from killing others as we are commanded in Old Testament Law, instead, Jesus taught us to go the extra mile and to open our hearts to other people, helping them, and being there for them in love and kindness.

Oh, come on...

The answer is self-evident!!
I asked you to provide evidence from the Book of Hebrews for your claim - and what do you do?
Quote texts from everywhere except Hebrews!
Pretty obvious what the problem is I would say....

What Scripture would you like me to provide to make my point?

He loves it's gentle warble.
He loves it's gentle flow.
He loves to wind his tongue up.
He loves to let it go.

In your case it's typing.

The priests were allowed to "work" on the Sabbath, being blameless in their sacrificial duties. They also carried out circumcisions if the 8th day fell on the Sabbath.

And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof: This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. (Num 28:9-10)

This was the LORD'S work and as Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, he did essential 'work' that was beneficial to a loving God (himself) who cares for His people. Such work would include the gathering of sticks and grain and Jesus made his point in the parable of the Good Samaritan. We ourselves are expected to follow in the masters footsteps. This is in accordance with his two commands which are to Love God and to love our neighbour. In a nutshell we should love others while humbling ourselves and putting the love of God above all things.

As Jesus said, "Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?" Mat_12:5

So PS if we look at it they did nothing wrong according to the Torah, right? So what laws were they busy breaking? The Jews got two sets of laws, the one is written Torah (Torah)and the other is the oral Torah (Talmud). Jesus accused them of not keeping theTalmud not the Torah. Jesus himself said that His yoke is easy and his burden is light, Him being the living word of God would be contradicting himself and lying to us if He had to change the rules because the first burden was too heavy. God cannot change and cannot contradict himself.

It is exactly the same with Paul, Paul tells you the law is good and then the law is bad… where Paul confused or lying to us. And if the law was so bad why did he keep on keeping it after he came to know Christ… most of us will say he was a hypocrite by today’s standards. The fact that people are not growing in this knowledge is mind boggling.

So, you are back to muddy the waters with your legalistic nonsense...

Nothing you mention about Paul is accurate...

Why don't you just get circumcised and become a Jew and get done with it - you clearly have no interest in Christianity....
