This morning I was reminded of Psalm 91 and as I re-read the Psalm, verse 11 stood out to me:

Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

And how about verse 15: He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

This is OT reality. Does God do less under new covenant?
This doesn't excuse your personal responsibility towards God. It didn't excuse you in the OT, nor does it excuse you in the NT.

I havent lied about what you have said.

My question was -- who denys ungodliness and worldly lusts?
Your answer was -- its all God.

My response:
So when you continue in your sins (for he does everything from henceforth), you can then blame God.
That is your gospel.
How is that a gospel?

The question still stands.

God calls you to obedience. God empowers you to obey through His grace.

However you still make the choice. If you choose the flesh you will die.

Your doctrine is faulty.
p4t is a die hard Calvinist who believes in election and predestination. Save your breath.

Why do you insist that I "sit back and not do a thing"?

How many times have I posted that we all agree we are to walk in light of the good works which God has ordained we are to walk in?

Just because I rely on Father to safeguard life everlasting does not mean I do not follow His instructions in His Word. C'mon Meggido, you're grasping at straws if you think your good works are what keep you safe.
you are the only one suggesting I am talking about good works and I am not. I have asked you 2 very direct yes or no questions and all you do is dance around the topic.

It is also quite clear based on this answer you have zero knowledge about practical ongoing sanctification<<<<which is not works at all.

Not an answer to the question, Chris1975.

Why do you so adamantly refuse to acknowledge that it is God Who keeps you secure?

Why do you so adamantly insist that you are the one who keeps yourself safe?

You posted Romans 2:16 (In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men). You might want to spend some time with Father and allow Him to search your heart concerning your obstinate refusal to acknowledge God's willingness and ability to keep you from falling ...

I am beginning to think DC and renewed believe in election and predestination. Nothing else can explain their theology.

It is also quite evident that very few understand God is and always been a Covenant God.

Why not ask what I believe instead of assuming.......here I will tell you..

GOD predetermined before the casting down of the world that ALL who come to him through Christ will be CHOSEN and adopted into his Kingdom as sons and daughters.......

that is what I believe about ELECTION and PREDESTINATION

Thanks, as I thought and this explains why you believe you can have Christ and then sit back and not do anything but collect the heavenly reward.

Congrats for falling back into the lying category found in Proverbs 6.......FIND and POST a direct QUOTE to the bolded or be found a bald face liar!
Hey you say all the time that it is nothing you do its all Jesus....which is it man? all Jesus or part of you or what?

I am only saying what you tell people, that there are no works involved in salvation or anything else. Its all Jesus and if you claim that works have anything to do with anything, you are saying you can lose salvation.

If someone else suggests works, you blast them with being a works based salvation heretic. You are now saying I am a liar, for simply calling you out on what you keep saying...

It is never works of anything but Jesus, so that tells me you got your ticket , it's punched and you are just waiting until you die to experience it all....In a recent post, you said that God looks at us as totally complete and perfect, but we are just bound by time in this life until we get out of it , then he can realize our fullness or something silly like that.

Whether you like it or not and no matter what little stupid internet rebukes you come up with does not change the single fact that you believe you do nothing, it is all the works of Jesus in us....

save the Proverbs 6 rebuke for some knot head in your church you think you have control over.

Well no need for a Saviour.....we can do it all.

What a shame that God went through all that trouble when we were more than able to save ourselves.

Faith saves- true
Confessing saves- true
Repenting saves- true
Baptism saves- true
Obeying saves- true, because the obedient are the group of people God chooses to give grace to.

Many things save, but not one of them saves alone- you must have all. Therefore, choosing just one to prove by scripture is irrelevant.

Here, read a few verses on from Hebrews 6v4-6

Hebrews 6v8
[SUP]8 [/SUP]but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

So the end of such one who falls away is exactly as I have previously addressed.
Bu they are the bad ground. They do not 'fall away', They were always bad ground.

No, I am calling you out on the bolded....go find a direct quote or be found a liar....end of story....

1. I have posted MANY times that the works done are the RESULT of faith and the salvation one possesses in Christ
2. I have posted numerous times that a believer will bear fruit or do the works prepared "Ephesians 2"
3. I have posted numerous times we are saved UNTO WORKS NOT BY WORKS
4. I have posted numerous time the works are the result of Christ in us as a living sacrifice
etc...

Your bolded is false, has never been said or implied by me or any that I have seen and the ones I have dealt with over works have consistently pushed a works and faith blend of salvation which is FALSE......

Bro, relax, he's well known for accusing without any facts. He has done this to many persons here, yes, it is called slander/lying. He's never going to concede or provide facts, you're wasting your time asking him.

I tried to "like" this posting, but the button wasn't there. So consider it "liked" :)

In very simple terms it boils down to "Conscience". Do you have a clean conscience before the Lord.

Anyone living in a continual state of watching porn regularly for example, or someone who lives in a state of unforgiveness towards a brother --- just two examples --- these cannot come to the Lord with a clean conscience.

When Adam and Eve sinned, and ate from the tree of good and evil, their consciences were birthed (con- with; science - knowledge). Only the blood of Jesus can truly cleanse our consciences (Hebrews).

If we are serving the flesh, our consciences testify against us. That is why it is so important to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit when He is working with you on a matter that is displeasing, and your response is to forsake these sins. Ask forgiveness, have a change of heart, and leave them behind. And His blood washes you clean. You are then in right-standing with the Lord. And should He return at any moment, your conscience testifies that you are innocent before Him.
To me it's saying to God, I got it wrong I need you, please help me.
I don't anticipate sinning but to be honest I know I could but ask God to help me not to before I do.

Does that make sense and to you is it forsaking even if we muck up?

Ps I found my like button:)

I responded to your comment in Post #95 wherein you stated:

You and others seem to think that ongoing sanctification means you can sit back and not do a thing and it is God doing it all.

To which I replied in Post #97:

Now, because you do not like what I have to say, you accuse of ignorance on my part concerning sanctification in Post #123:

Meggido said:

Then in response to something dcontroversal posted, you reply in Post #137:

You can't have it both ways, Meggido.

You can't claim that those who trust their safekeeping to God just "sit back and not do anything" when it is told to you over and over and over that we follow the same Instructions from the same Instruction Book (and Instructor) you do.

That you do not comprehend that it is Christ Who works within each and every one of us does not mean that I "sit back and not do anything" nor does it mean that I have "zero knowledge about practical ongoing sanctification". What do you have to say about Colossians 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

if you know and choose to sin before you do IT, and do IT anyway, and then expect
God to 'pardon' you, then, just where are you coming from?

oh God, pardon me while I sin and don't hold it against me, set me free from the
consequences and let me do what I want??>...

Greetings to all,

Well I am in the background the last few days a little sick with the flu just doing a little reading in the forum here and there with the occasional post. Reading some sections of this thread I was a little disappointed however.

It seems to me as a new observer to this website that when the Word of God is presented and it goes against what someone believes is correct, instead of correcting someone through the Word of God and giving a reason for the hope that is in you, certain people like to attack the messenger of God's Word instead of replying to the Word of God.

I am not accusing anyone here of this as this is not my job. It is just an observation and those of you doing this know who you are. We should always remember that it is not us who convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of the Judgement to come. This is not our work. Our work is to sow the seed (The Word of God). It is God's spirit that is to do the accusing (the conscious) if we are in the wrong.

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged." (John 16:7-10)

Attacking the messenger is to be expected however because this is what happened to Jesus and it will also happen to those sharing His Words. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

"The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matt 10:24-28).

again...

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hates me hates my Father also." (John 15:19-23).

God's Word reveals sin to bring us to Jesus. Let us be careful, as those who claim to follow Jesus, that we don't find ourselves kicking against the pricks and be found fighting against God. How much better would it be for everyone if we focus on giving a reason for the hope that is in us from the Word of God with meekness and fear lest any of our actions be found turning someone away from God.

God Bless you all

Makes a lot of sense. Its about your heart condition. If you believe you cannot stop sinning it remains your master. If you in full dependence on the Lord commit your ways to Him, knowing that He is there to love and carry you though, deciding in your heart to forsake your sins, considering yourself dead to sins (as required in Romans 6), and considering yourself alive to Christ ---- then tremendous power is available through God's grace for you to live in victory. And you will never fall from his grace. He will, like so many say here, carry you through.
And if you "muck up", like you say --- God is there to forgive a repentant and contrite heart. God doesn't overlook the sin, and simply turn a blind eye. He wants you to hate your sin and turn to Him wholeheartedly. He is in the business of cleaning you up. Sanctifying you. Setting you apart from the world. That's His will.
God bless brother.
