You do know that All Hallows Eve or Halloween or All Saints Day Eve is a Catholic Christian Holiday and not a pagan festival right?
I do now. I guess I'll run right out and buy a big barrel of candy :)

I stated before in another thread,,Be true to Jesus Christ. From what I can understand about pagan festivities throughout history have included worshiping a false Deity (i.e. Baal, Moon God, Allahu, etc.).

For the life of me I have seen no children that are dressing up, worshiping false gods. Yes, to be sure there are some, Satan Worshipers, Wicken, etc. use this night for their devious and satanic rituals. But unless you are part of that, I see not problem with it.

BE TRUE TO JESUS CHRIST in your Heart!

Some other scriptures that I have heard anti-halloweeners bring up are based on the principal of being a separate and special people who need to show the world that we are now different than we used to be:

(2Cor 6:17 [KJV])
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,

(Lev 20:26 [KJV])
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD [am] holy, and have severed you from [other] people, that ye should be mine.

(1Pet 2:9 [KJV])
But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

(1Pet 2:10 [KJV])
Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

the Bible says to renew the mind. be holy bc He is holy. when I didn't know I could belong to a Kingdom and have a different life with blessing and goodness to look forward to, I did everything that the other lost and roaming souls did. looking for meaning and significance in traditions and parties and mimicked actions that are a shadow of what God gave His holy people to do.. He came up with all traditions and celebration. The enemy and the lost had to come up with their own to fill time and add significance to their lives.. the lost mirror and mimic everything Gods people do. Its truth revealing that God exists and they acknowledge it without trying... I choose not to substitute the truth for a lie. I find and receive no fulfillment in anything outside of Christ, so I choose to not take part... is it a sin to? im no the judge of that.
Amen, and a warm welcome to CC Holly!

I don't pass out candy, I pass out watermelons. The greedy little kids see this big watermelon and with bright eyes and smiles from ear to ear they open up there bags and potter drops a 15 pound Melon in.....can you guess "the rest of the story" :D

We have always taken part in Halloween in some form... the kids always went trick or treating. My wife enjoys it more than I do, I think.

Our grand girl is going as a "my little pony" this year. She was Ariel last year, and a giraffe one year. Pretty satanic....

We give out candy to the little kids that are out having fun.

We also participate in "trunk or treat" at our church building parking lot.

It is what's in your heart that matters. Participating in a national "fun" holiday should not create the heartburn that it obviously does with some people.

Would Jesus participate? Well.... would he participate in a wedding feast where people were getting drunk?

speaking of Halloween I think it's near time I bug our blue lady bug about how eating halloween candy makes her a satanic heathen:b

I believe it was two halloweens ago that she and I were attacked severely because we eat candy on Halloween and I love to mess with her about it every year lol
That reminds me of a childhood sweet we had here they were called Imps. (little Devils) They were very hot and I have no idea what was in them but they were hellish to eat.

I don't understand why any Christian would participate in Halloween - unless it's to give out tracts with sweets. Unlike Christmas and Easter the origins of Halloween remain to this day the reason it's still "celebrated". It really is the polar opposite to Christianity and all that it stands for.

As for those celebrating it being "sinners" well we are all sinners - period so I don't condemn those who choose to participate but I think it's unwise to do so.

I think it's HOW you celebrate a holiday, that makes it good or bad. Like doing satanic blood sacrifice rituals on Halloween. Or woshipping the tree and presents at Christmas. You can either celebrate it how the pagans did, or you can use it to glorify God. :) jmo

BE TRUE TO JESUS CHRIST in your Heart!
I agree with this sentiment to an extent. We need to be careful that the folks who say something like this aren't doing so as a justification for doing whatever they want in the name of loving Jesus. God wants people who will worship Him in spirit AND in truth.

That's why I look at Scripture which says not to have anything to do with pagan gods, holidays or traditions. And I see no Scripture that allow the participation in these things as long as they're done innocently or without connection to those original days. Nowhere in Scripture does God redeem a pagan god, holiday or tradition but instead speaks vehemently against them.

Would Jesus participate? Well.... would he participate in a wedding feast where people were getting drunk?
I think this is an important question to answer.
ahhh, but you left off my "answer" to that question....;)
A question in response to a question isn't really an answer.:p

Anywho,

I don't think Jesus would be a part of Halloween.
He was part of a wedding where people most likely got drunk.

Those are 2 very different things.
