If we made a covenant in the Biblical times we would take an animal and spread the blood on the door posts. I was always under the impression they would take a bit of blood and spread it on the side of the entrance and that is it. The fact is the blood was spread from top to bottom and in the door there was a bowl with little grooves that flowed into the bowl.

If I accept the covenant I would enter into your house and we would say "if we break this covenant may we be torn apart like this animal" (like you can see covenant was serious in Biblical times :) ). But then if we did not enter into covenant I would refuse to enter into your house and if I want to insult you I would trample on your doorstep and walk away.
didn't know that.... totally cool!

I am going to tickle you all now. My heart lept when I read the title of the op......actually misread it. I thought this was a Hebrew language class, and I was all set for a refresher course. No matter, it iw a great op as it stands, but if you would like to teach me more Hebrew, here I am, but just a very little at a time please.

Yes, but you know a lot more on what is important to the lives and the living of family in Jesus Christ, and this is paramount to all. God bless you for your wonderful works here always............j

This study has been started because some have voiced an interest in a serious study of the book of Hebrews. Those who have asked for this study do not want this to be a debate thread. All are welcomed to follow along and even offer comments but if it is your intention to argue every single point that is made and become a disruption to the flow of this study then please go somewhere else. You will not be welcomed here. We want to keep this study on a courteous and professional level. I hope this study will be beneficial to you.

May the Lord extend his blessing upon this effort.

It is a characteristic of humanity. That is the state of man. While in the flesh, man is a lower creature than angels in the created order. When Jesus became flesh he accepted this temporary state.
