First of all to explain him what is hell u must understand what is meaning of hell.Hell isn't a place and Orthodox fathers do not watch on it like a place but rather a stage of soul.
Hell or Heavens can be tasted in this world.We are all witnesses of that.
Tasted Heavens in earthly life mean to be rewarded with a Grace of God.Nothing alse isn't mather to that soul,sufferings,attacks from others,matherial things are nothing to them,they do not need anything even this earthly life.Those were and are Saints.
Hell also could be tasted and u can see it as madness or sadness,psychological derangement.Those are hard stages of soul and,as Judah Iscariot,it is mostly finished by suicide.Hard sins one person must have to be rewarded like that.And behind of all that are passions lust or greedy or any other.
