I was wondering, is it bad for a preacher to be rich? Looks like the preachers of LA are very materialistic, Or am I seeing it wrong and are they just extremely blessed by God?

I'm Sorry - I don't watch the show - and probably never will.

Which TV preachers have not been rich?

Hi there Dalisa, it may not be necessarily a bad thing for a preacher to be rich as long as he has earned that wealth through honest and diligent Labour.

Keep in mind that money is not condemned in the Scriptures but it is the love of it that is condemned. Money is to only be used as a tool and that is it. Money is never to replace devotion, worship, and trust in God.

Let us read what the Scriptures say regarding this matter:

1 Timothy 6:3-12 KJV
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; [4] He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, [5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. [6] But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. [8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. [9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. [11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. [12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Notice that 1 Timothy 6:5 concludes that they suppose that gain is godliness. Just because you see a preacher who is very rich and wealthy and who has a huge church building, that does not mean that he is blessed by God. In fact, I would be more inclined to question whether or not that preacher is even genuine.

Another reason you want to stay clear away from any "rich" preacher and one who has a mega church is because his lifestyle is to totally foreign to the pages of Scripture. Especially in regard to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ the Lord, and His apostles ( Paul, James, John, Peter, and the others). Where do you ever find an account given in the Scriptures of a rich and wealthy apostle or preacher?

If a preacher is preaching the true Biblical Gospel, then that preacher will not be popular, nor will he have a mega church or a lavish ministry.

I do not believe Jesus and the 12 were not poor and destitute, in fact they were probably very wealthy.
In Luke 5.1-10 we read the account of the nets breaking because of a great catch of fish. In fact, it was so much that Peter had to call for a 2nd Boat to help them and both boats nearly sank under the weight of the catch.
When Peter reached the shore, Jesus told him from now on you will be fishers of men.

Now lets look at this closer, Peter had been out all night and Jesus commanded him to go back out, that went against everything Peter knew about being a fisherman, but NEVERTHELESS at thy word Lord I will go and BAM! He got the greatest catch of his life. Peter obeyed Jesus and it took 2 boats to bring it all home.

What is a Biblical truth for those that want to see it in this account: Jesus wanted Peter to follow him and be a disciple and through obedience to what Jesus said, Peter's entire ministry and his family were given provision, so that he could follow Jesus and be a true fisher of men.

Plainly put: Through direct obedience to what Jesus said, Peter got such a catch, that his family was taken care of and his ministry of being a fisher of men was instantly financed.

We allow ourselves to become shallow thinkers about stories like this one. We don't study to show ourselves approved.

Peter, James and John were not 3 guys and a canoe.... these guys had more in common with the guys on the Deadliest Catch, they guys were wealthy fisherman, who had a business. If you care to study this out any, you will find that being a Fisherman in this area at this time was considered one of the greatest and most prosperous ways to make a living.

You should study out the other disciples and their backgrounds, before posting such nonsense that a Preacher is destined to be poor and not have a thriving ministry.

Humility is not an outward sign of anything, I have known many supposed outward humble men of God, that were not at all what they appeared to be. Humility is part of the Fruit of the Spirit and doe snot mean pastors should be destitute or that their boards should enforce that.

Jesus was not woe and poe. Everything he did that resulted in overflow, were carried out in humility, meekness, temperance and compassion and for the benefit of the lost and dying.

When you ge tot a place of understanding in the Spirit, that not anything you have is ever your own and it is all God's is when you begin to see the very true biblical principal of overflow activate.

The Gospel of woe and poe is actually unmitigated PRIDE. Just like dress codes and forbidding women to do things in the Body...God looks at the heart not outside motives.

The Fruit of the Spirit is something that the Spirit gives on the inside and is not at all tied to human emotion.
