Balance in the middle of the road... not too far to the left and not too far to the right
One is the believer who is concerned with the legal side of the scriptures - the dos and don'ts... the law. They know the scriptures back to front, they are quick to find fault with others and condemn. The Pharisees were like that.
The other you are describing seems to be disregarding the importance of obeying the law. It's very important to know what is right and wrong, according to God, because those who do not obey God will perish.
So it can be confusing to understand the balance. I think personally... whatever revelation you have, you walk in it to the best of your ability. What you cannot do, God will help you with. He will not give you a revelation that you cannot keep - without His strength.
And God will reveal more and more of His Word as you walk in the light that you have, step by step, He lights up the way ahead, with just enough light to walk in for that hour.
As if you were walking down a road, everything behind you, you are now understanding. You build on that understanding in the steps ahead.
