I have done posts on divorce and remarriage but never on marriage its self. From scripture this is what I have learned about what God view is on marriage.
1. Marriage is between one man and one woman Gen. 2:23-24
2. The words used for them are cleave and one flesh which means to adhere firmly and closely or loyally and unwaveringly, to become closely attached, attachment by affixing or by being glued together, a growing together, and stresses strength of attachment.
3. Husband is to honor his wife and love her unconditionally 1Peter 3, Col 3:19, Eph 5:25
A man's prayers can be hindered because of how he treats his wife.
4. The wife is to submit to her husband in all things. Eph 5:22
5. Both Husband and wife submit to each other Eph 5:21

In keeping these in their proper context the marriage is a strong bond which cannot be broken but by one spouses death.

I love how Paul associates our own marriages to our relationship with Jesus. Thank you for covering this from throughout the word.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Marriage is a picture of the conventional unbreakable union God has with His people.

I believe that one problem is people do not take marriage with this kind of seriousness therefore we have so many marriages that fail.
