We are not in a civil war within our selves. (Our identity now is in Christ) We have our old "manner" of living where we learned how to conduct our lives through our flesh without a spirit. But now our old nature has been killed on the cross when Jesus died., we died. We have a new nature made in the image of God.

Now our task is to no longer live according the the dictates of our old flesh habits as we first did as humans born in sin. We now are to walk in newness of life re born in the Spirit. Being changed by the renewing of our new minds in Christ. We were once dead but now are alive. There is no dead corps hung on us. But we do have those memories of how we lived and breathed and had our being. We are to trash that and walk in the Spirit.

I will tell on myself here a little, I found out about the flesh nature rather abruptly when I was about 19 years old and in the Navy. I was an odd sailor indeed because I read my bible every day and thought about God all the time. While attending a worship service at church, I was in such a spiritual state that the only thing that mattered in my life was the Lord. Anyway I was walking out of the church with my head down and thinking of the Lord when I glance up to see a rather attractive young lady going up the stairway. In less then three seconds my mind went from being completely on God, to being completely on the young lady, that is the flesh nature and we can control it(with effort)but cannot do away with it.

When we were not born again., we were ruled by our flesh and in ways we didn't even know. It went deep within us causing us to think and do things we would not want anyone to know about. The shame of it all can cause one to stumble if they don't understand who they are IN Christ. There is murder in that old manner of living. We once were murderers guilty and condemned to Hell.

But because of Jesus we no longer have the condemnation and guilt of that old man any more. Because we are not that old man anymore.

Yes., our old manner of living is ingrained in our memories because it was how we survived and lived. We have to have our minds renewed by the Spirit. We need to learn how to access faith believing and we do it by grace through faith. We work out what Jesus worked in us. Until we relearn how to walk, we will be sort of stumbling around like babies wondering what is wrong with us!!!??? How could we think to do such a thing? us being a Christian and all!? We are responsible to work "out" by faith what Jesus worked in by the power of His resurrection.

your are still ruled by the flesh, you have to eat and have food.

you do not pray 24 hours a day 7 days a week. etc

in simple terms were are combined etc

by the renewal of the spirit teaching us,little by little, bit by bit etc

how god thinks, to understand god voice and god leading us from the start to the finish. in the plan that he has prepared of each individual believer. etc

when we are saved what has to happen is the renewing of our flesh thought process aka " the mind " by the Word of God

Rom 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Eph 4:23:

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Phil 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

this is what we are able to do under grace while in the sanctification process . You are saved but your mind has to be renewed by the Word of God why? because the brain is of flesh and will gravitate to the thing of the flesh. But the Holy Spirit in you, will prominent you not to listen to it . The mind has to be renewed to hear the word of God and not the fleshly mind. This takes time and God is patience with us.

Unlike people ... aka Pharisees.

We put it to death daily by declaring our death to sin through the Cross, and our "living" in resurrection power to God "today". Today is always the day of salvation.

Yesterday is gone...tomorrow not here...one day at a time. Is so restful to learn.

Paul said the flesh is circumcised from our heart. And we are given a new heart or a new nature.

Faith being the power for grace to be active...is that correct?

you mean this one?

never heard this 'I have no more flesh nature' until I joined this forum

sometimes people take it so far to the spiritual left that you wonder if they have left the earth
if so, please explain what you mean?

Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).
Total KJV occurrences: 151

Col 2:11 In union with him you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without human hands by stripping off the corrupt nature by the circumcision performed by the Messiah.

We have had an instant change of nature when born again...and we know it. Peter and Hebrews speaks of purging.

Theres a scripture in Colossians that I want to find....speaks of "something" being taken from our midst by the Cross of Jesus..

I like Etheridge for this scripture..

Greeting
2Pe 1:1 SHEMUN PETROS, a servant of Jeshu Meshiha, to those who by faith the same in preciousness [Or, honour.] with us have been made equal, through the righteousness of our Lord and our Redeemer Jeshu Meshiha.
2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
Confirm Your Calling and Election
2Pe 1:3 As He who all (things) which of the divine power are unto life and godliness [Dechalath Aloha, the fear, reverence, or worship of Aloha.] hath given (us), through the knowledge of Him who hath called us unto the glory of him and of virtue,[Or, excellence. B'teshbuchtho dileh va-damyathrutho.]
2Pe 1:4 by annunciations [Nunciatio, promissum: from, to know, make known.] great and precious which he hath given to you, that by them you may be partakers of the divine nature, while you escape the corruption of the lusts which are in the world;
2Pe 1:5 So, with this, bringing in all diligence,[Or, gravity. Shekoltano.] add to your faith virtue; but to virtue knowledge,
2Pe 1:6 but to knowledge perseverance, but to perseverance patience, but to patience godliness,[Dechalath Aloha, the fear, reverence, or worship of Aloha.]
2Pe 1:7 but to godliness brotherly kindness, but to brotherly kindness love.
2Pe 1:8 For while these are found with you, and abound, neither slothfulness nor unfruitfulness will stand against you in the knowledge of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
2Pe 1:9 For he with whom these are not found is blind, and seeth not, and hath forgotten the purification of his former sins.
2Pe 1:10 Upon this the more, my brethren, be careful, that by your good works your calling and your election you may confirm;[Or, make sure.] for, while you do these, you will never lapse ; [Meshtarin, from shara, lapsus est, deliquit, transgressus est.]

Word studies will show that we are purified by the Cross. Most of us have no idea what we have been given at first. So we grow in faith and understanding to a point where we don't forget who and what we are...spiritually minded.

We all have our own speed for this.

Make sense? Or is it confusing?

ummm

do you have the Reader's Digest version?

I wanted to understand what you were saying in response to my post

word studies are fine, however the same words can be used different ways and English is famous for it

I am not speaking of an issue of forgetfulness and I have a good grasp of what spiritually minded is, but I am not understanding the points you are making with an obscure author that for some reason you have chosen to use

hope you understand what I am saying here. I'm not arguing and I am pretty direct, so not trying to be confrontational either

maybe I should put that in my tagline or something :p

Readers Digest version by Holy Spirit...

Whichever nature you place the most faith in, is the one that will rule in your life.

Grace7

Etheridge is a translation from the Aramaic. I like his translation more and trust it more than Lamsa because I "heard" that Lamsa didn't believe in the divinity of Jesus. Don't know if this is accurate though.

While you are on Kauai (or all of Hawaii for that matter), you may hear references to the “Aloha Spirit”. This is one of the largest signs that Aloha means much more than hello/goodbye. The Aloha spirit is what we strive for in life, and is a good guideline for treating people around you with love and compassion. It is something that we emulate every day on our tours of the Na Pali Coast, which is why we get so many repeat business and people referring us to their friends and family.
The best part of Aloha is that the more you express your love and compassion for yourself and those around you, the more it comes back to you. That is why it has become such a part of everyday language in Hawaii. That is why people say it when greeting or saying goodbye – we want to perpetuate the feeling so that the Aloha Spirit continues throughout the day.
So we encourage you to make Aloha part of your vocabulary, but please do it knowing the true meaning, so that you can say it with significance and sincerity.
With that, we will say “Aloha” to you and your Ohana!

The last time I was in Hawaii - 2 years ago I was there for a month and I went to a wedding and the preacher talked about Aloha and the spirit behind it. It was cool.

Found it. It's a transliteration or going from one alphabet to another.

What does that mean? lol
