i want to learn how to feel the holy ghost without tampering with my emotions i do not want to keep telling my self over and over jesus jesus ! or seriously telling my mind to believe in something because that would be manipulating my self.

i just want some over whelming feeling something powerful and spiritual to come within me without me tampering with my emotions to do it. i want it naturally to happen so i can actually believe it my self i just some type of spirit to know for sure that there is really something out there sometimes when i pray i just think am i talking to my own conscious i even laugh sometimes because i feel weird. i wish there was a way i can be answered to very clear so i know hes here

Hi DennyMack,

I think we all have felt like that at times, however, be careful that you are not chasing a feeling rather than a knowing.

What is there is scripture that would lead you to believe the Holy Spirit can be felt?

God's spirit is not a feeling.(I'm not saying you can't feel it) but it is by faith you have it.. God said he will never leave you. Old Testament God's spirit was only visitation judges 16:20
Then she called, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and thought, "I'll go out as before and shake myself free." But he did not know that the LORD had left him.

Samson didn't even know it left lol

New Testament is habitation meaning its there always. Living in you my brother

Read Acts 2:1-17 I guarantee you the occupants of the upper room felt the Spirit(Holy Ghost). Onlookers thought they were drunk! I have experienced this also, wow what a rush! any body else want to share their Holy Spirit baptism experience?

Hi Masterman,

I don't think anyone is saying that you can't feel a move of God. Rather, feelings are not a sign of the Holy Spirit dwelling or guiding.

You are making an outright assumption. What the onlookers thought does not equate to the experience of the disciples at Pentecost. Your experience is exactly what you wanted it to be.

When I was baptised in Holy Spirit i felt very energised all that day. I felt strainge feeling in my stomack. Few minutes before I was baptised I had already known and believe what actually was going to be. Oh, that was amazing! My lips begun trembling, I was so excited and very happy! Than I begun to speak in tongues! Thanks Jesus that he saved me! Thanks Holy Spirit that he leads me! Than was the one of the days when I undouptedly and truly believed in Gods will!

,1 Cor 12: 3Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed"; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

Now, you tell me, is Jesus the Lord? If you say yes, you have the Holy Spirit. That simple.

Trying to 'feel' the Holy Spirit isn't a goal in itself, but a means to an end.
We should be open to Him, literally inspired, to truly hear God's voice and do His will.

For instance, we should always pray the HS for enlightenment first, before we read our Bible,
only by being open to Him it becomes God's Word.

This to me, and anyone with a history of occult knowledge or experience with the deceptions in the charismatic movement (ie toronto blessing), sounds like sorcery. When you "knew and believed what was going to happen" you MADE it happen.

Your salvation comes through a relationship with Christ, not through a second baptism, which by the way was only for people who had the baptism of John but hadn't heard the Gospel yet. They laid hands on them and prayed. That's it. So since all those people are dead, there is no such thing, therefore if you do it anyway, you are in a state of deception and at risk of losing not your salvation, but your discernment and even your sanity.

Is your faith resting 100% on what Jesus did for you on the cross, or is it resting in the ability to feel something?

Denny this is the cry of the soul, so you are most definitely not alone. Some will immediately shun your desire/request because they were raised in such conservative cessationist environments that the very idea of "feeling" is unbiblical. This creates a lack of emotional intelligence though, IMO.

What you are asking I believe resides in this verse from James 4:8, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." And I believe we begin by reflecting, "How much am I drawing near to Him?" I believe we should constantly work to let go of worldy things, fasting always, and living in full submission to God...growing upward in maturity.

God wants sober followers. How small is Pentecost when viewed through the full spectrum of scripture? There are supernatural gifts that obviously give an individual a deeper, personal edification that is unique to their existence with God. This is amazing, but it isn't something we can bottle up and sell. Yet there are full denominations and views that chase this experience and treat it as a product of God to be obtained. They chase it. I do not in any way deny God's power today, but I acknowledge that the Holy Spirit fell and rested on them in the upper room, not because they willed it, but because God did. In the modern era a lot of people push, force, and cause things to happen, possibly in their own flesh. We will all find out in the end...

Denny -- I think your heart is right, especially since you are questioning your intent. I have come to a place of thinking, "Lord, I want to see myself coming a mile away." I think I tamper with myself all the time, therefore I want to see it, know it, and cast it down before I bend to my own will, own thought. Easier said than done. Do not go to man, but keep pressing Him, humbly asking, "If you are willing?" I know of no other process of faith that is more powerful than waiting and trusting in God.

All I know is that i FEEL peace when I know everything 100% rests on what Jesus did for me, and not on my ability to feel stuff. It's odd how we can lose our peace simply because we're trying to feel somethin or other. Find contentment 100% in what Jesus did for you, and you'll be.........content!

The Spirit is The Truth...the use of two definite articles (The) and a (be) verb identify the two as interchangeable as in the following...
1. The Spirit is The Truth
2. The Truth is The Spirit

To be sensitive to the Holy Spirit is to be sensitive to the word of God and what it instructs us to do. To be led of the spirit is to be led of the word of God. To be sensitive to the Holy Spirit will (move) you to obedience and points you to Jesus Christ as the source of all things biblical unto the believer. I have found in my own life through observation, trial and error (by results) that my first premonition is, the majority of the time, the Spirit's prodding if you will, and when I go with it, it seems to work out better for me than if I second guess myself.

With prayers that strengthens your relationship with God. When it comes a natural part of your day to day activity having this strong connection with God, you will feel the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit speaks to you, it's always clear. You'll find yourself doing things beyond your expectations and doing them so smoothly. Such as loving your enemy or forgiving your offender and so on so forth.
God bless :)

One thing that has helped me immensely is the realization that there are things beyond my control. When I finally matured enough to know that I cannot fight (all) the battles, and that there are things beyond my control such as, the health of my loved ones, son etc. coupled with the thought that I am not going to worry about something that has not happened yet, gave me great peace in Christ. Love (chunks) fear out the door HAH and Jesus gives us great peace and joy when we finally put it all in his hands. Thanks for your post.

Yup it's all so simple really.
Maybe that's what bothers some?

Conversation...

So do I need to feel something 24/7?

Nopes, all you need to do is trust that everything rests on Jesus 100%.

But doesn't that leave you feeling empty?

Nope, because empty is just a feeling. It all rests on Jesus.

Yeah but what about joy unspeakable and full of glory?

I'm pretty content and joyful knowing all rests on Jesus and not on my ability to feel joy unspeakable.

But there has to be more!

What else is there other than all resting on Jesus?

It's just soo simple. I'm not at peace with that.

That's weird, I'm at peace knowing it's so simple.

But isn't it unspiritual to not want to feel more?

I already have all I need when I trust it all rests on Jesus.

So I may be creating less peace and less joy for myself by demanding more than 100% resting on Jesus?

It looks that way.

Acts 13:2

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Psalms 91

My Refuge and My Fortress

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

God bless
