That was divinely inspired and much appreciated. However, we can't use that message to dismiss the simplicity that is in Christ through a child like faith. Conviction of the Spirit through the cross is what separates humanism from being a born again christian. Personally, I am convicted that the gospel is to be preached as the power of God unto salvation and to get man's attention away from the world and unto a living God. If I was to get up and preach the gospel, I would want you to give me 100% of your mental assent and attention as to what I am going to say. I have to trust that God will bring conviction into your heart so that you will be able to go from mental assent into the faith of Christ and believe with all your heart. Only God can do that and it must start with getting our attention through mental assent. In other words God is saying, 'Do I have your attention', 'Are you listening'? If He does not have our attention then we will not hear what he has to say unto us.

i hate my internet - Paris reedhead is the speaker, it has some Leonard Ravenhill - mostly decisional salvation where people have no indwelling of the Holy Spirit at all, and walk away eventually - that is humanism - unless God gives the faith - salvation doesn't happen

Thank you for the correction. I thought that the speaker was Tozer. I should have checked more carefully.

The video was talking about decisional salvation based on what people can get out of it. We can't deny that there is a lot of that out there today. "Name it claim it," etc... It seems that there are even different views and teachings today (about what people can gain in this world), even since the time that this message was given, but it's the same principle.

Rather than the pure message of Christ Jesus and the HOLINESS of GOD being taught.

Hi BradC,

I don't think that he was speaking against preaching the gospel of Christ. It seemed to me that he was leaning more towards the thought that much of what is being taught is more of a selfish doctrine and it becomes the center of what many denominations teach. The prosperity doctrines would be one example of that.

I agree that the gospel being preached is the power of God unto salvation and that faith comes by hearing the word of God.

God reigns in heaven for the happiness of man, God became a man for the happiness of man, All the angels in heaven are for the happiness of man

Humanism - the idea that man is sovereign

That I simply went to preach the gospel to someone to improve their life, because I felt sorry for their living situation, or the lack of opportunity
