Oh.........hmm, don't know why I thought you lived in Cali...........

Oklahoma has some good fishing I am told........you just have to determine to spend a hundred dollars on equipment, locate a Pond, Lake, River, be sure to buy your License......and GO FISHING!

(don't forget to take bait)

There's a reason they call it fishing...and not catching

View attachment 179774
Blain is right, you're going about it all wrong. Though I've had a monster on the line that broke away just as I was pulling it to shore, I really didn't want a catfish anyway. I was determined that I wanted to catch a bigmouth bass, even though the only stock seemed to be bluegill. Okay, so it probably barely weighed a pound, maybe two, but still...

I support what you want to do because the hobby of my whole life is fishing, and since childhood, I have gone fishing with my father early in the morning. It was a wonderful experience for me, and now my friends and I can afford to go fishing once a month. We do it just for fun. I recently learned about a new method of fishing. Now I'm reading articles about bowfishing for muddy water. Therefore I think that next time I will buy a special bow for fishing on Amazon, and I hope it will give me great pleasure from my fishing. So, I wish u the best of luck, my man!

Christian ethics doesn't prohibit hunting, he said, but it sets clear guidelines on the hunter's responsibility to wildlife and the environment. "God created human beings in God's image and gave them dominion over all things. For example, I believe in God and regularly go to church and communicate with the pastor about my hunting adventures. He never said that I was doing something prohibited. I am always searching on https://archerytopic.com/ for great places for hunting, and I am always hunting during the allowed seasons.

I must start by saying that I probably process information a bit differently than most...In another thread some folks were joking about perch, which is a a fish to me, though they meant a place to sit. Anyway, that got me thinking about perch so I googled it and there was a story of a young girl who caught the current world record perch. I think it was 3 lbs. It was on a hunting and fishing site and that got me thinking about both sports.

I love both but I love to fish the most. I know there are many places in scripture where both are mentioned but I was wondering about a place where it is not...

Isaiah 65:17-25 17For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.18But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
20There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
23They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
24And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

Looks like there will be eating, planting and building....wonder if there will be fishing...again, just odd things I think about when I read these wonderful forums!
I plan to go fishing today. One of my favorite things to do.

I feel fortunate to have grown up in a family of fishermen. A nearby free-flowing stream with limited access has provided decades of adventure and float fishing. It is a small stream with trees and stumps that require pulling the boat over. I also have permission to hunt much of it and our family has always cleaned and cooked whatever we catch or kill. After about six decades of adventures I have slowed down, but my young grandsons really enjoy the rustic adventures we go on as I teach them how to limb line for catfish, learn how to read sign in the swamps, and avoid cottonmouths.

I write stories for an outdoor magazine that include some of my river trips, along with photos. My grandson’s pictures have been published in a couple of the articles and they get a kick out of seeing theirselves.

WE are stewards of all the earth’s resources and many have lost that connection that growing some of your own vegetables and harvesting game and fish for the table brings.

I use artificial lures rather than live bait. Its easier on the conscience.

This has been a great thread to read. I hunted as a child and we always ate what we shot. We also followed biblical instructions about handling the blood of the game we took. Fishing has been a life-long passion and again, we did not fish for animals we did not eat.

Lev. 17:13 “‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among you who hunts any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth...

Here is a more difficult issue. A few years ago there was a threat made by the government to outlaw hunting prairie dogs. PETA was ecstatic. Prairie dogs are one of the few animals carry plague. In addition, the ranchers have an interest in controlling the population as they destroy grazing land for cattle and lower beef production. Hunters kept the prairie dog population under control and kept existing towns from spreading. This form of population control allowed the animals to thrive. (Prairie dogs are one of a few animals that will eat their young if food becomes scarce). In response to the threat many of the ranchers put cyanide pellets in the dog dens killing all the dogs and destroying the towns.

Do you enjoy the occasional medium-rare burger; work to keep mickey out of your house and support rat control efforts in your city?

I eat what I keep and release almost everything I catch. I also clean and eat any animal I hunt, and I do not take a shot unless I am sure I can make a clean one. I used to bow hunt for everything except birds so my range was limited. I do not believe in hunting for fun or sport and I probably need to choose my words better.

Jesus seemed to like fish and fishermen.
When I was growing up we had a Boston Whaler and would go fishing when the blues ran. That is the only fish I would fish for out of the ocean. We had a freezer and I would completely fill that thing up and then all year we would eat that fish regularly.

However, in the mountains we would fish for trout, that also was a real treat.

I agree the thing I love about fishing is the water, nature, the calmness, the peace. I have never done catch and release, but on the other hand I have eaten 100% of what I catch.

Even though we do not know what the heaven will be like, we can be absolutely certain there will be no death, pain, hunting etc.
But we also know that Jesus liked fish. :p

You've got me thinking about the old days with my dad now. I miss him and the time we spent together out on the water. The song "Time for a cool change" is going through my head now. :)

Fishing and hunting will keep some people alive during the famine.

It's always interesting to hear about how different people process information, and I'm glad that a conversation about perch sparked your curiosity about hunting and fishing. As for your question about a place in scripture where hunting and fishing are not mentioned, I'm not sure myself.
