We see in the book of Acts the Christians selling off all of there property to give to those in need because they WERE the church... not purchasing property that everyone needed to pay for and calling THAT BUILDING the church.

Off to work. God bless...
So you don't attend church? I would be lost without church fellowship, teaching and collective worship. I also give to the needy but I'm not going to go into that - it's between the Lord and me, however I'm happy to give back to the God what is His anyway - He blessed me with a job and I get to keep some back for myself and my family. It's win/win.

It is great that you do what you are doing but the church must not die out. Do you really want only mosques in your neighbourhood?

Churches can make it easier on their flock by showing the accounting sheets on the business. It would go a long way to keep the flock intact. It becomes a problem when we see the pastor & church staff exhibiting expensive lifestyles, materialistic goods, with the churchgoers living paycheck to paycheck. I doubt very much churches will open their accounting books for public view.

Every church I have been a member of has held a monthly business meeting where every dime was accounted for.....there are some exceptions to the rule.......just saying....

That's good to hear but there are those who will "cook" the books. It is not very hard to do and usually takes an accountant to find the "baked goods."

I would agree with that...and will add....the (treasurer) is changed and voted on yearly and the spot has been held by faithful men and sometimes women and never to be held by the Pastor......Usually a deacon......but not always....!

Two members of our finance committee count our tithes and offerings and record each member's (who request it) contributions because we must provide members a statement of their contributions for the members income tax. We do this because a member requested a statement several years ago to support an audit, and we did not have an audit trail to support his request. It doesn't matter to the IRS that you trust your treasurer or not. They want a paper trail.

When it comes to whether you tithe or not, that is between you and God. We personally believe that all our money belongs to God. We will always tithe ten percent, and we will contribute all we can to any of our ministries that need it. When we see the results of what we do with what little we have, we are blessed. Pinch every penny if you must, but remember that God may take you home tomorrow. I promise you one thing, you will not take a penny with you.

I wasnt speaking about accounting...I know ..the government.......I was pointing out the fact of members being
concerned about where their money goes...but sitting there trusting their teaching....
...it came from God in the first place.....goes right back to Him......I really don't concern myself with the churches appointment of my tithe......God says do it...
Why isn't that enough....any money I have given to others
I never suffered the loss of it........usually the opposite...I get more...
That's how God set it up to be.......peace........jo

I guess I look at giving a little different than some on this thread. I say to myself What has God given to me? EVERYTHING... without Him my heart would not beat, I'd have no air to breathe, I would be lost as God gave His Son Jesus to die for my sins that put Him on that cross. Then I think about what little I have to offer God in return and I ask for forgiveness for being selfish and at times resenting giving money as I have no right to even feel that way - my reward that I deserve is DEATH.

But I have found that when I do give to God - tithe or offering He always returns to me much more than I even thought about giving. I have a wonderful place to live that I and the bank own, I have an almost new car, and He has even given me a man to love this year. I don't deserve any of it But God Is So Good To Me I owe God Everything I have, own or am. This year I have given myself to God and am in process of listening to Him for His direction each day.

I have learned I can never out give God.

God believes in sharing out of His abundance. You are deserving of everything and you share of your heart. I am listening to Him too...

Well, you got me there... no receipts. But here is what the back seat of my car looks like... good enough ?

.....................
Don't mind the mud on the seat... I took some brothers fishing.
I see some books that have your opinion of what doctrine a person should learn, is what it looks like, but no bibles.

I have no quarrel with the fishing part.

Lol some people like to point pastors and churches as lovers of money, sure a small minority are but these accusers are more concerned and talking about their money more than anyone else haha ironic!

FYI they are ALL bibles. New testaments... except a couple of tracts. Why are you always so negative in your posts ?

Look, Everything I own is God's. If you feel like God wants you to give to your local church, great. I simply explained what I do and my opinion on it.

1 Corithians 16:2 is why. We are to give to God according to how often and how much we prosper. The percentage that we give is whatever we decide in our heart- those who sow much will reap much and those who sow little will reap little. God has always commanded a sacrifice. If you chose not to obey Him- that's between you and Him. As far as what is done with this money is between those who deal with it and God.

You said, "Why should I? To pay the electric bill?..." and I was saying you should because of what 1 Corinthians 16:2 says.
