I Pursue Righteousness!

PS 38:21 Septuagint
"They Repay me evil for good, Slander me because I Pursue Righteousness!

I want to take this time to commend those few who can see through this myriad of lies and deception, and who are actually pursuing righteousness in the fear of the Lord.
Many who sit under and accept the strong delusion are very sincere people, as you can see this in their diligent desire to please God and obey Him, but they fail to see how they are not only slandering the few preaching truth, but also mock those who peruse righteousness, as commanded by God in His word!
All through scripture we are commanded to lay aside all filthiness and wickedness, and hunger and thirst to do what is right.
Now doing what is right is much more than being a good citizen, or doing good outer dead works to appease your conscience, no it is walking in faith and obedience to the truth that purifies the soul
We again are commanded to seek after righteousness, holiness, purity of heart, and guarding it against the wiles of the devil, which can only come from a truly repented heart, now crucified with Christ, seeking the things of God over the dead world!
Rom 6:22 But now, being made free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So who are the righteous? And who are the self-righteous?
The righteous:
The truly repentant soul…
The obedient few who obey God from their heart
The ones who have forsook the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
The brave few defending and contending to keep the truth alive in a dead world and church set in their own ways and traditions.
And those who just do what is right by obeying God and His commands!
The un-righteous:
Those who claim to be the Romans wretch, chief of sinners, who brag about sinning each day in thought, word, and deed.
Those who are clean on the outside, but have never repented of their vile sins, leading a dark and double minded life, still in great bondage and addiction.
The pundits who line the popular churches today who preach the wide road to destruction telling the ignorant and undiscerning members, they can sin and NOT die.
And those who come against the crucified saints calling them prideful and self-righteous because they have actually crucified their flesh with Christ as commanded, and stand aloof of the saved IN sin churches, and stand strong against the onslaught of lies and deception.
But to be honest with yourself as you can conclude that the narrow way to the cross has been replaced with a lukewarm, fun and games mentality in the church, where the pop culture of today is the primary interest, over repentance, holiness, purity and obedience to the truth, they love their vain attraction and funny stories, in place of the powerful words of God, to drive them to their knees, cut them to the heart, putting on sack cloth and ashes, seeking the mercy of God, and assuming nothing from Him!
Isa 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said the LORD.
So who are the self-righteous? Those who are pursuing holiness, godliness and separation? Or those who slander us who claim to be right with God!
Psa 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, Jehovah will not hear;
Psa 66:19 Surely God has heard; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Psa 66:20 Blessed is God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.
God’s mercy falls on the righteous, undefiled saints, seeking after doing what is right, and guarding their heart and mind from the corrupting influence of the world!
Tommy 2-9-13
Mal 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Well tommy, all you posted is true but don't forget the only way to truly persue rightiousness and be pure is to seek god's heart. Faith in god is not about how much scripture you know or how obedient you are because without love this means nothing. So for us who truly know his heart it's our responcibility to save and help those who are unrightious, we must be a light that shines brilliantly. But yes, above all seek his love and his heart and then everything else will fall into place

Excellent thread.

Though how could you possible post all that without a nod to:

Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

I Pursue Righteousness!
I receive God's gift of righteusness:

"A righteousness from God has been made known. . .This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. . .all have sinned. . .and are justifed (made righteous) freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ." (Ro 3;21-23)

"He received a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith. . .he is the father of all who believe. . .in order that righteousness might be credited to them." (Ro 4:11)

"how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision. . .of the gift of righteousness reign in life through Jesus Christ." (Ro 5:17)

You do not apprehend God's latter-day revelation by his Son (Heb 11-2).

No it does not, it comes from a loving relationship with the father

The law could not forgive our sins or give us grace nor could it love us with a fiery passion

Romans 4:2-8 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Our righteousness is a gift from God through faith. The only righteousness that really matters, anyways.

So your beef is really with Tommy's 'Law as the means to righteousness'?

Beef? No i have no beef with tommy or his belief in the law, i was just agreeing that we are not saved or made rightous through the law as popclick mentioned. The true way to god's heart is by faith and love thats all there is to it

Tommy, I get to statements of judging others in your quotes and I just can't go on.

And I find all this priddle praddle on grace, sin, faith, and obedience others add isn't helping, most of the time. What is said about grace is right on. Same for sin, faith and obedience. What is almost always out of whack, here, is that knowledge of each of these is not enough at all, it is how they fit together.

When I make a study in the bible, I do not pick out a verse here and there. Sometimes I study book by book. Or I pursue one subject such as law, and read every verse OT and NT pertaining to it. A verse here and there seldom is enough. Sometimes a complete point is made in one verse, like when we are instructed about what we are to keep our minds on in Galations, but usually it takes finding all God says on a subject or it gets out of balance with one point having more importance than another. Understanding any point means seeing it in it's fullness.

I get your point, that we must obey. One of the lessons I have learned about that is in how disobedience plays out as shown in history given in the OT along with the prophets telling us God's reaction. I think obedience is a major message from our God. We need to know, also, how grace, faith, and the blessed, absolutely wonderful atonement that we are offered through Christ works together.

What I understand to be truth is that the entire law is divine, it is of God. The foundation of the entire law is love, and through the Holy Spirit we can follow this. We are to see how God means this to play out in our lives by reading each and every piece of it. We are to put on the whole armor of God.

Ok, just a sorta minor point...you do realize 'love' is a commandment as in 'The greatest commandment is this, "Thou shall love the Lord with all thy heart etc." So are you saying by saying "The true way to god's heart is by faith and love" that it is by faith and keeping the law? Or are you using 'love' in the sense of it being a fruit of the Spirit? in which case the true WAY into God's heart is by faith as we bring our fruit.

Love is what brings out the fruit, the closer we get to god and when we know of his love our hearts begin to adore him. When this connection is made everything else falls into place. Be it obedience to the law or faithfulness or a thankful heart all the things that is jesus's nature begins in the heart and a heart full of gods love is the connection to god's heart. Our hearts begin to speak for us, even when we cannot find the words our hearts cry our adoring feeling for him.

Look up 'fruit of the Spirit' Love is included. Now if you want to speak of God's Love then yes, that is the source and faith drinks deep at Calvary.

Well all i am saying is that jesus did everything- every last action, every prophesy fulfillment every healing and teaching out of love. You want to know who god really is? Love. that is who he is, I only know his heart because he revealed himself to me. in that instant I knew exactly who he was and i want everyone else to know too. You can believe me or not but as i said in another post in another thread i am dusting my feet and walking away. I do not belive in arguing over such things

Blain, when you say the Lord's prayer you address it to "My Father", you don't address it to "My Jesus", yet you say Jesus did everything. How do you manage to pray the prayer our Lord Jesus told us to pray?

to answer you question i do not say the lords prayer, i pray by peaking to him as if he was right beside me. There is no specific way to pray the lord looks in the heart not words. I always speak from my heart to him, and jesus and the father are one jesus is i am, so does it it matter wether i pray to the father or to jesus or even to the holy spirit? No it does not because while they are three unique ppl for each a different role they are still the one and only god.
