Imagine if an extremist in the future went back and assassinated someone of biblical importance? How would the landscape of religion change?

Bibleman read the bible please. If you can keep those commandments without fail. Then I will bow before you. because you will have done what no man in history or present has done. Therefore I place my faith in the work of the cross. There i am justified. There I am sanctified. When I arrive in heaven the cross will give me freely a robe of righteousness and nothing that I have done or kept.
As far as I know it, no man can do that. But at the same time, Matthew 5:48 appears to say that keeping the commandments without fail is the exact requirement for anyone to stay out of Hell. It says; "Be ye therefore perfect, just as your Heavenly Father is perfect." To me, that is the exact same thing as Jesus having said; "Keep ye therefore every single commandment in the entire Law (Moral, Mosaic, Ceremonial, and all) without fail, just as your Heavenly Father has done so and expects you to do the same."

Actually in a science fiction novel that could happen. But in real life if there was a time machine, there really would be no way to kill someone and the landscape of beliefs would not change. You are very intellectual. Anyway, that is my answer.

As for the question, if I had a time machine, I would go to the times of the Old Testament and the New Testament and see the miracles of Jesus, the crucifixion of Jesus, and the resurrection. That would be cool.

You are caught up in legalism. I was enjoying reading the comments on this thread till I read you say we had to keep all the 663 laws or however many the Pharisees thought were the right number to attain righteousness.

Instead, it is time to read the New Testament and find the grace and mercy of God.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [SUP]9 [/SUP]not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Eph. 2:8-10

"For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ" John 1:17

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [SUP]24 [/SUP]and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, [SUP]25 [/SUP]whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins." Romans 3:23-25

GRACE - unmerited favor. If we could earn our way into the Kingdom of God by keeping the law, we would not have needed Jesus to die on the cross for us.

PS. If I had a time machine, I would also choose to go back and follow Jesus around Judah, Galilee and other places, during his 3 year ministry. I would love to be healed of Rheumatoid Arthritis, I confess, but only if it was God's will. So far, he has done amazing things through my sickness, and I would never want to lose that closer walk with Jesus that being in pain and sick can bring.

Yeah time travel fries my brain. Imagine if I wanted to go back and stop 9/11 from happening.. And I was successful.

That would mean that it never happened and I wouldn't have to go back in time to stop it... If you know what I mean lol

Yes, I would love a time machine. I would go back to high school (ugh! what a thought!) and appreciate it! I would have gone to college, studied my buns off!

And I would have found God long before now.

I try not to dwell on it because I know God's plan is perfect, but I do regret a lot of the past, before I found Jesus. I made very stupid decisions, had really messed up priorities. (nothing illegal or dangerous, but certainly not what God would have wanted).

It appears to actually be mentioned somewhere on the Internet that there may likely be in fact closer to 613 trillion laws and commandments that one has to keep to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It even has apparently been mentioned recently that there may be only about 300 people going to Heaven and staying out of Hell out of the hundreds of billions of people who have walked the Earth since Adam and Eve.

Just recently, I came across a guy named Jan Boshoff, author of a website called "finalcall07" who claims that he had a heart attack, and despite being born again, that he went to Hell. And now he is preaching that, in order to have a chance of going to Heaven, we have to be absolutely perfect in our own strength and obedience. At the same time, I came across another website that has managed to list 1,050 commandments from the New Testament. Throw in the 613 commands of the Mosaic law, and you have a total of 1,663 commandments from Genesis to Revelation! Now, I know that we are supposed to get rid of sin from our lives, but I keep getting told that we all stumble at times. Mr. Boshoff likes saying that true Christians never, ever stumble at all; they live absolutely perfect lives, they have long since committed the very last sin ever of their lives. And he even likes to preach as if true Christians are arrested, beaten, scourged, and executed even in the United States of America, even where supposedly people who harm Christians would, themselves, face jail/prison time. Or even as if he may as well think the entire Earth itself is owned and ruled by North Korea.

That guy Jan Boshoff loves nothing less in fact than to preach that staying out of Hell totally requires perfectly keeping all 1,663 commands from Genesis to Revelation without fail.

That's a nice thought, but no matter who it was, or the situation, we all sinned, so sin still would have entered the world.

I would go back and do my life over again knowing what I know now. But first I would keep going back to find the perfect place to live, around the perfect people to live by. I would find my perfect mate, then go back and do my life over.

I would know that you don't have to be around abusive and toxic people. I would get a good job and save. I would never start using food for comfort, I wouldn't be around mean people that I would need that comfort anyways. I would learn a bunch of talents, I mean skills, you can't learn talents, either you are born with them or you are not. I would be born to different parents so my dad wouldn't choke me at four years old, and I wouldn't have damage, and would be able to sing beautifully to God. Would never touch a cigarette, strong drink, or drug, I would of kept myself pure in every way. I would have perfect teeth, I would have not fallen down those basement steps and chipped my two front teeth, I would know exactly how I want my hair. I would put neat features in my house, like a hamper fastened over a hole so that laundry drops to the laundry bin in the basement. My house would include an elevator for all floors, and a big hill for sledding.

I would mostly look at the positive instead of mostly looking at the negative.

I would go witness Jesus teaching His sermon on the mount. I would have waited till a time He is alone and go talk to Him.

Additionally, the path (back) to eternal life is narrow and not many people find it. Also, the path to destruction is wide, broad, and many go down it. I can't possibly see it as being God's will that man should have fallen and end up having only a cramped, craggy and narrow path found by few as a way to get back to eternal life and reunion with Him. Not to mention the broad path destroyed by sin and leading only to eternal destruction. To put it simply, it's like before man's fall, man and God were together, both paths, broad and narrow, used to lead to eternal life, everything was perfect. But when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, sin entered and created a huge fiery chasm. The broad path, or highway, was destroyed, and Jesus could only fix the narrow path. To make matters worse, even the Bible apparently indicates that, after the physical death, it will be too late to repent, and that any type of repentance in Hell will never be heard or accepted.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

The wide road is men trying to get there by their own will and strength.

Faith in God and His Work is the narrow road.

Romans 4:3-5
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

I would love to have one. I would go back to the time of Jesus listen and record all his teachings and interview all the Disciples then I would come back and call a meeting of all the heads of churches and theologians making them listen and settle all the arguments. I would also sort out my life and cancel all the wrong decisions and mess ups myself and others have made concerning me.

I would go back to the time of Adam and Eve and stop them from eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. And especially if my time machine were that flying car in "Back to the Future", I'd also do 2 additional things to make sure nobody ever tried to eat the forbidden fruit. First, I would haul that serpent out of the garden and dump him into the middle of the Pacific Ocean. And then I would trim the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil so that only it's highest branches remained, hopefully making it impossible for anyone to reach that tree's fruits, and then I would haul away the cut off branches and dump them into Kilauea's crater. And to make sure Adam and Eve did not try and eat the forbidden fruit, I would put both of them in the back seat and lock them in until my entire job was finished.

Anyone else imagine what they might do if they could go back in a time machine to Adam and Eve?
Just burn down the whole tree with root and all and bake the snake.

If I had a time machine I would be breaking the laws of physics, since time isn't physical and cannot be traveled in.

So since I am already breaking the laws of physics I would fly around the world and watch the worlds historical events and try not to get myself killed in a war somewhere

It is something personal. Either it would be in 1952 when my sister was born. Then I could probably cope with what almost happened in 1969. I would be all it and ready
