According to many Christians, the anti-Christ is not going to show up anytime soon.

For there must be a falling away (apostasy) in the 'church' first before he can be free to take over.

The power of the gospel truth in the lives of believers would hinder him.

The truth and power must be taken out of his way.

But most Christians claim absolute truth is alive and well in Christendom.

To them, there is nothing out of order.

There is no error or false doctrine in play, or any traditions of men making void His word in their little circle.

All is well in Zion according to them and their beloved pulpiteers.

There are no wolves or hirelings or false prophets or false teachers or false apostles or heresies or arrogance or greed in their precincts.

So party on. By this analysis, the anti-Christ is way off down the road somewhere which means Jesus return is to.

Anybody who doesn't realize a very real, present day apostasy in the overall church is quite possibly part of the apostasy themselves. I say "quite possibly" because there are presumably a lot of new converts who haven't yet too much knowledge by which to rightfully discern the same and, therefore, they're somewhat excused. For the rest of us, there's simply no excuse.

What, in your estimation, began the apostasy 500 years ago?

I suppose one could argue that the apostasy started about 300 years ago during the Enlightenment, when man's reason began to take the ascendancy over God revelation in His Word.

The bible says there will be a falling away but it doesn't say the church will fall away. The church is not falling away... the religion of "Christianity" is falling further and further from the truth, but the church is Rock solid.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

[SUP] [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

My bible tells me that these two things (among several things) must take place before the body presence of Christ and our gathering......

1. The MAN of SIN, the SON of PERDITION be REVEALED
2. The complete apostatization (my coined phrase) of humanity...<----the apostasy

Those who say there is no apostasy within the ranks of BIBLICAL Christianity are blind and or ignorant of the truth........

Can I fall out of my truck if I am not in my truck? Can I fall off of a horse if I am not on the horse? You cannot apostate from the truth unless you are in the truth......

I disagree. The denominations used to be a lot closer to the truth than they are today. They have left the principles of the bible and now teach basically new age religion.

The church is the blood bought body of Christ and will not and can not fall away. That's the way I see it anyways. We belong to Jesus and Jesus said he would not lose one that the Father has given him.

Disagree all you want...falling away from the truth does not indicate lost.....

I don't view it that way at all......people every day in this country have some difficulty like the loss of a child or a car wreck that kills a family member and they get angry at God and blame God and quit church or because God does not answer a pray request the way they want it answered they quit praying.......make no mistake.....after 43 years in church and 26-27 years of intensive study like 20-60 or more hours a week I will go to the ground fully confident of eternal security and the fact that the bible teaches that based upon verb tense, context and the very God inspired definitions of the words used to write the bible...

I agree, falling away from the truth has nothing to do with being lost.. it means falling away from the truth like most churches have done today.

And I would agree...they have become social clubs and entertainment centers offering everything under the sun except a solid biblical education and a true spiritual fellowship.....the word has been sugar coated and dumbed down and most are concerned with their beautiful building, how high the offerings are and the boast in numbers......I always say, win someone by the truth and they will be kept by the truth...and if you want entertainment..go buy a movie ticket!

From history, the apostasy started with Diotrephes in 3 John. Paul said after they throw the last shovel full of dirt on his body, wolves WILL rise up and start the clerical/laity heresy. Lo and behold!

i agree also that they are still saved, those that have been hoodwinked by all the deception. However, it sure keeps crashing hem back from God's full intentions and spiritual and physical blessings.

to follow history, it would be the last know log, or written word. not a bit out of the middle.
ware people are hoodwinked and getting history mixed up.

however the new testament is about belief in jesus christ.

making statement about deception or false prophets is one think, but giving no example to your meaning, is an other thing.

anti christ, is someone that dont believe in jesus christ. and as most christian believers know is the heart of the new testament, and new covenant. very little has changed there , because jesus is still the saviour, and death has been conquered. and the holy spirit has been given. all marked by history account in the bible, yet some try to magnify parts, out of context to a complete work of jesus christ. would it be the cross v the spirit being give,so what is the sign of a complete work. for there to be an end.

6 he says:
"It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth."Isaiah 49: The Servant of the LORD
