Apostle Peter baptized using the name of the Lord Jesus:acts 2:38-Apostle PETER, having been given the keys to the Kingdom, commanded the JEWS, saying, “REPENT everyone of you and BE BAPTIZED in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38) “and you shall receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.”
Yet Jesus tells the disciples the following in matthew 28:19:[SUP]19 [/SUP]Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
There is something that has been hidden here which goes in accordance with what Jesus prayed in matthew 11:25:at that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
It is evident that the name of the father, son and holy ghost is in fact Jesus Christ which is why the disciples did not EVER baptize in the name of the father, son and holy ghost which are just titles.
These apostles knew what most religious leaders of today FAIL to recognize.
First: That the NAME of the Lord Jesus Christ is the FAMILY NAME of all Christians both in heaven and on earth (Read Eph.3:15).
Second: There is NO OTHER NAME under heaven whereby we must be SAVED only in the Name of JESUS (Acts 4:12).
Third: That the FULLNESS of the Godhead dwelleth BODILY in CHRIST (Col. 2:9).
And fourth: That BAPTISM must be performed in the NAME of the CRUCIFIED (Read 1 Cor. 1:13).
The Bible tells us that “Whatever you DO in word or in DEED, do ALL in the NAME of the LORD JESUS CHRIST” (Col. 3:17). JESUS even taught us that “REPENTANCE and REMISSION of sins should be preached in HIS NAME, beginning at Jerusalem, unto the uttermost parts of the world” (Luke 24:47).
Father, Son and Holy Ghost are THREE TITLES. Yet there is only ONE NAME. It was revealed unto the apostles that salvation alone goes in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST (Acts 4:12).
My question to any christian is what are the consequences(if any)of not being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ?
Will your sins be remitted and will you receive the Holy ghost if you are not baptized using this specific formula?
Is it a risk you have taken or are willing to take?
would you be open to being rebaptized in the name of Jesus Christ if your previous baptism was different?

nw2u good question.we have to remember Jesus only submitted to baptism to be an example for us.
He was sinless but we need baptism in his name in order for our sins to be remitted according to acts 2:38

Gotta be immersed in God's tears, men.
Gotta feel His joy and pain.

The water, the dove, and the name are teaching tools.

[h=3]2 Corinthians 11[/h]King James Version (KJV)

11 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

1John 2
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

It does not matter how one is baptised. as long as they are baptised. Getting into semantics is just what satan wants.

We are all cleansed by the baptism of the HS anyway (if we are truely saved) so how one is water baptised would not matter

eternally-grateful that's a really nonchalant and dangerous way of looking at baptism.
The disciples took it very seriously to the point that even after a group of people had already received the holy ghost they still commanded them to be baptized in Jesus Christ name.
Did Jesus or any of the apostles say it did not matter?

Please tell, are you saying that if one was or is baptized in The Name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, that is a false baptism?......and the true method is only in the Name Of Jesus?

Who said I was mocking baptism? I do take it seriously. Everyone should be baptised. But you will notice, salvation came by the baptism of the spirit to those people. Not the one in water..

I am just saying, thst is the important one. If we are not baptised by the spirit. water baptism means nothing.

I wonder why the Son of God had to be baptised  sarcasm

Matthew 3

13
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

John tells us why :rolleyes:sarcasm

John 1: 31..I (John) Did not know him, but that he should be revieled to Isreal, therefore I came baptizing with water. And john bore witness, saying I saw the spirit descending from heaven like a dove and he remained upon him I did not know him, but he that sent me to baptize with water said unto me, Upon who you see the spirit of God descending like a dove and remaining on him..this is he who baptizes with the HOLY SPIRIT. And I have SEEN AND TESTIFIED THIS IS THE SON OF GOD.

As a testimony, that he is the one prophesied to come.

we're baptized with the Holy Spirit!

water baptism is nothing but an outward sign for people, by people, a rite & ritual of the earth pointing towards a true
baptism of the spiritual.

it is the Spirit of God! & He and the Father are one. this is true baptism. don't confuse the ritual of the old covenant for the covenant that we have now - things changed at Pentecost.

i'm not saying our common ceremony of water baptism (sprinkling, immersion, water guns, whatever) is evil, but that it's only a ritual and a sign to others of the true baptism of the Spirit. baptism is verb with definite object - we are baptized unto God, through the Spirit - just as before the Holy Spirit came into the world, those that believed John were baptized unto repentance according to the word he taught & preached. this also was a sign for others & a rite of dedication. the act itself is meaningless without the change within.

posthuman it was in fact right after PENTECOST that the jews.after being pricked in their hearts by peters testimony, were told that in order to be saved they needed to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins and then they would receive the gift of the holy ghost.here is the account IN ACTS CHAPTER 2
2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
LATER IN THE SAME CHAPTER

[SUP]37 [/SUP]Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[SUP]38 [/SUP]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
WHY CANT PROFESSING CHRISTIANS JUST ACCEPT THAT BIBLICAL BAPTISM IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF ONES SALVATION?
JESUS AND THE APOSTLES DID SO WHY CANT WE

[h=2]All these different kinds of baptism are man made. There is only one baptism.

1. Hear the Good News[/h] Romans 10:13 shows us that we must hear the gospel so that we know how to obey. We must first receive the good news through the teaching of God's word. [h=2]2. Believe[/h] A personal belief in the gospel is essential to God's plan of salvation: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:17).

But belief in what?

Firstly, we must believe in the one true God of the Bible, who is sinless, just and all-knowing.

Secondly, we must believe that his son Jesus was sent from heaven as a once-for-all sacrifice for the sins of the world. We must believe in his sinless life, death on the cross, resurrection from the dead, ascension into heaven, and eventual second coming.

Lastly, we must believe that the Bible is God's word, delivered via the Holy Spirit to Prophets and Apostles. We must believe that the original manuscripts were free from error, and that its teaching is vital to our salvation. [h=2]3. Confess[/h] The Bible teaches that the Christian must confess his sins. What kind of confession accompanies a man's salvation?

Romans 10:9 states that “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Many teach a confession of sins prior to the point of salvation. However, the Bible teaches that we are to confess Jesus as the Lord of our lives. [h=2]4. Repent[/h] The Christian walk requires a complete 180-turn, away from a life of sin to a life of righteousness. The Bible calls this act repentance.

The word repentance literally means "a change of mind and of action." When a person commits his life to Jesus, he must turn away from their old ways and habits in order to follow a new Master. [h=2]5. Be Baptized[/h] The Bible is very clear regarding the necessity and role of water baptism in the plan of salvation. We are told: "repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins" (Acts 2:38).

Through our submission in waters of baptism our sins are washed away by the blood of Christ, and we put on Christ like a garment (Gal. 3:26-27). We do so to share in Jesus death and resurrection (Rom. 6:3-5). [h=2]6. Rise to walk a new life[/h] Just as Jesus was buried and rose from the dead, we must also rise from the watery grave of baptism to walk a new life in Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:27, Rom. 6:3-4). [HR][/HR]

Your taking a horribly translated verse and trying to make a doctrine.

Peter did not tell anyone to be baptised to be saved, He told them to repent to recieve the forgiveness of sin (spoken to everyone) and to those who repented (and them only) to be baptised,

As for rom 6. This is not water baptism, It is spiritual baptism into the death and burial of CHrist. Gal 3 speaks of being baptised INTO CHRIST, not water.

Baptism is a verb,, the subjects of the verbs are Death, Burial and Christ.

trying to add the word water to those passages is adding to the word of God.

The practice of baptism as a religious symbol did not begin with Jesus. Baptism , which means literally the immersion in water, was practiced among the people of the Old Testament as well as the people who belonged to pagan religions. The universal meaning of baptism is that of “starting anew,” of dying to an old, way of life and being born again into a new way of life. Thus, baptism was always connected with repentance which means a moral conversion, a “change of mind,” a change in living from something old and bad to something new and good. Thus, in the Gospel we find John the Baptist baptizing the people as a sign of repentance in preparation for the Kingdom of God which was coming to men with Christ the Messiah. Christ himself was baptized by John not because he was sinful and needed to repent, but because in allowing himself to be baptized he showed that indeed he was God’s “Beloved Son,” the Saviour and Messiah, the “Lamb of God who takes upon himself the sins of the world” (See Mt 3, Mk 1, Lk 3, Jn 1-3). In the Christian Church the practice of baptism takes on a new and particular significance. It no longer remains merely a sign of moral change and spiritual rebirth. It becomes very specifically the act of a person’s death and resurrection in and with Jesus. Christian baptism is man’s participation in the event of Easter. It is a “new birth by water and the Holy Spirit” into the Kingdom of God (Jn 3:5). Baptism in the Church begins with the rejection of Satan and the acceptance of Christ. Before being baptized, a person—or his sponsors or godparents for him—officially proclaims the symbol of Christian faith, the Creed. Because the godparent speaks on behalf of the child, sponsors his entrance into the Church and “receives” the child out of the baptismal waters into the Church and cares for his spiritual life, the godparent himself must be a member of the Church. After the proclamation of faith, the baptismal water is prayed over and blessed as the sign of the goodness of God’s creation. The person to be baptized is also prayed over and blessed with sanctified oil as the sign that his creation by God is holy and good. And then, after the solemn proclamation of “Alleluia” (God be praised), the person is immersed three times in the water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Through the act of immersion, the baptized person dies to this world and is born again in the resurrection of Christ into eternal life. He is clothed with the “garments of salvation” symbolized by the white baptismal robe which is the “new humanity” of Jesus himself who is the new and heavenly Adam (See Jn 3, Rom 5, 1 Cor 15). Thus, the words of the Apostle Paul are chanted as the newly- baptized is led in procession around the baptismal font three times as the symbol of his procession to the Kingdom of God and his entrance into eternal life: “For as many as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Alleluia” (Gal 3:27). In ancient times this procession was made from the baptistery to the church where the newly-baptized received Holy Communion at the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. Baptisms were normally done in connection with the Easter Liturgy; our present procession around the church building on Easter night is nothing more than our remembrance that we are baptized, that we have left the life of this world to enter the eternal life of the Risen Christ in the Kingdom of God. This new life is given to us in the life of the Church, most specifically in the Divine Liturgy. Before the baptismal procession and the reading of the Epistle and the Gospel is fulfilled in the reception of Holy Communion, however, the newly- baptized is given the gift of the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of Chrismation.
